I served the Kwaio people in Malaita as a volunteer doctor from PNG nearly 20 years ago and didn't get a chance to observe how kwaio people prepared at those swamp taro as well as mangrove dishes. Those local dishes tasted great. Watching from east coast USA.

That sugarcane - like plant is called pitpit in PNG 👏 delicious in coconut cream/ milk. I also use it instead of breadcrumbs when I make mince patties/ rissole... Yummilicious 👍🌺

Solomon, as we are brothers and sisters from our Pacific Islands, we are very lucky and proud of our ways of life in the Pacific.
    We don't pay rent,
    We don't pay for food,
We don't pay gasoline for our boat,
We are truly living free on everything compare to the rest of the world and I thanks the LORD for all that. So, think very carefully about your relationship with CHINA because whatever might affecting your Island in the near future, will affecting all our Pacific Islands in the nearest future.
    They don't care about us,
They don't care about our children and their children,
and they don't even care about our natural resources.
Your not the first country that they bribes !!!!!!
PLEASE, LETS ALL STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT FOR OUR PACIFICA !!!!!
PEACE ✌LOVE FROM CHUUK FSM :)

Great work! Awesome organics , in Tuvalu they call it PULKA , they plant them in sandy soil pits, and it takes 3-5 years to mature before they are harvested. The soil in Tuvalu is very sandy, not very fertile like the one in this video. Reminds me of our plantation in Madang PNG. Em Nao ! Too Deadly. Great video, keep them coming.tank Yu tru! 🏝🌴🐋☮️😎✌🏽🤟🏽

I don't know what you call that sugar cane like plant that you eat but in fiji it's called duruka and it is now in season . It is something we always look forward to eating. And the swamp taro, , not everyone in fiji eat it, but I love it , especially I love it with grated coconut.

I grow up from Navolau and they called vico but all different name to all different places in Fiji but whoever lives in Fiji call Fijian they call duruka. I think that swamp taro we called via or viya not dalo ni tana. When cyclone hit Fiji and damaged all casava, and other food like taro, yam, kumala and the rest, so we all go in the bush and get the wild yam and that taro we called via or viya.

I have kakake as you wantoks at Solomon calls it. I have it on my island in, Madang PNG. we don't plant them as I saw you replanting after the harvest. They grow wild but we don't eat it. May be some parts of PNG they eat it. Ating Bai mi traim. And the other like sugar cane plant .. we in PNG call it pitpit goes well with tulip and coconut cream or roast over the fire which really give a real taste of pitpit. Love it.

In our region, here in the Philippines it is called galyang. It's eaten boiled. But it is more delicious if it is pounded mixed with sugar, grated coconut, grounded peanut and milk. We called linupak. The young leaves is cooked into a delicious viand
