    Just ordered the Karoo 2 as a replacement for my Edge 520, and enjoyed hearing your comments about the Karoo 2. What made me subscribe was your comment about an upcoming review of the Classified shifting system as I’m looking to install that in my next bike. Keep up the good content!

    Great Video. I was curious about whether I should upgrade from my 830 or Bolt V1 and I think I'm going to stick w/ those 2 for now, until SRAM releases the Karoo 3.

      I know there have been some predictions about the new Karoo- I’m sure it’ll be awesome. Other than making it smaller/slimmer, I’m not sure which features would really move Karoo 2 owners to buy an update.

    I’ve happily used a Cateye Velo 7 for 10 years on my Brompton for 9,000+ plus miles. For mapping I use my iPhone as and when needed.
    Having watched a lot of reviews, I like the mapping and touchscreen of the Garmin, the screen legibility in sunlight and the simplicity of the Wahoo. Though you’re overpaying for the potentially unnecessary features (watts, VO2 and cadence) and frequently superseded models after a year (I’m looking at you Garmin).
    So what do I want? The Velo 7 already has: clock, speed (current, max and average), distance (trip and total), pacer arrow (for above or below average speed). In addition I’d like: accurate mapping, gradient info and altitude/height. Q: What device fits that criteria?

    Any idea of how to disable the "Auto Reroute" feature? If not how to you deal with it as is without being tempted to through it off of the next 5,000 ft high cliff you come across?

    • @outdoorbros_

      Haha, unfortunately, I rarely use the navigation on it.

    • @philipcaldwell3187
      @philipcaldwell3187 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wish these guys would not market these things for navigation, even the best of them are really just high end stop watches and data loggers. No aviation nav system would be allowed on the flight panel if they endlessly autorouted the aircraft when there was a course deviation from the programmed routing, they default to advising the direction and distance of deviation. Garmin makes nav aviation avionics - you would think that fundamental concept of navigation they apply for aviation and marine equipment would be simple to implement as the default for all nav products. Yet here we are, it is as though fundamentals of navigation are elusive for bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles. It isn’t just Hammerhead, the entire industry is a victim of marketing group think.

    How did you get 6 hours riding on 40% battery used? Did you have only navigation and screen off, no HR, no power? Otherwise, that's impossible.

    • @outdoorbros_
      @outdoorbros_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not impossible. Battery seems to work well when you turn down the brightness.

  • @jrjinaustin

    I have been using a karoo2 from 6 august through 19 august, and i am giving it back to the person who gave it to me. the syncing of workouts is beyond tricky. i follow the instructions and it just wont load the workouts. the help messengers reply in a resonable time frame but ignore what you write in your description. if you don't use workouts from a coach it is a fine machine. if you are on a team, and you have tohers to check on the set-up , you will do okay, otherwise i would sure skip it. also, the default threshold power is 225, aso watch out for that.

  • @Magnum0peth
    @Magnum0peth ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm sorry but that battery life statement just feels wrong. Are you sure this wasn't a sponsored video?
    40% left after a 6+ hour ride?? How many sensors did you had connected? You can turn down the brightness but then it becomes practically unusable and you're defeating the whole selling point of this unit which is the amazing screen 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @outdoorbros_

    Has the Strava Live Segment screen been improved after updates?
    It was initially showing so much information that in the middle of a segment you could not read anything at all!
    Unfortunately this screen could not be personalised. That was a deal breaker for me.

    Wow... That screen configuration mode looks great (compared to the clunky Garmin interface for doing the same job). Do you think that part of the reason people don't switch from one of the other brands is "device fatigue"? Like, ah man, I don't want to deal with a whole other system... I'm just gonna use what I have.

    • @altern8tive
      @altern8tive 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don't see what new significant things can be added. Heatmaps have been good and Predictive Climber was a major addition that lots of people were asking for. Aside from more accurate navigation the unit is good, bug fixes are pointless if you're not having problems and battery 'optimisations' aren't quantifiable by the user.
