    That was one of the best games I have ever seen. I like simple straight deck! No difficult long combinations... I really like how you explain more game strategies and possibilities! Now I am playing Roaring Moon but as soon as my children get the Palkia and Calyrex league decks from Santa, I am going to work on them😉🤣🤣

    Been running Palkia / Ice Rider on the ladder for months, so glad to see it getting attention! Earthen Vessel really made the deck work. I'm running 3-3 Palkia 2-2 Rider with Energy Switchers and Turo to remove the damaged Rider before they take 3 prizes.

    I'm playing palkia along with gyrados ex. My list is definitely not figured out yet, but it's really fun! What is league rank if you don't mind me asking?

    I'm new to Pokemon, if I am understanding 'ROTATION' correctly: This deck is losing Mew, Mew Ex, Ice Rider Calyrex V/Vmax, Melony, Escape Rope, Cross Switcher, Battle VIP Pass... That leaves 42 cards left in this deck that will be 'legal'... Can someone help me understand this, am I looking at this right? 30% of this deck will be rotated out come April? I just bought all these cards, and while it is fun to play it is a bit disheartening.

      All cards with an E is rotating out

    • @InThirdPerson
      @InThirdPerson  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mew ex is NOT rotating out.
      However, Celebrations Mew (1), Ice Rider V (1), Ice Rider VMAX (1), Suicune V (1), Escape Rope (2), Cross Switcher (4), Battle VIP Pass (4), and Melony (4) ARE rotating out of Standard format. That's 18 cards rotating out and the other 42 are still Standard-legal.
      Pretty much every deck is going to lose cards in rotation. Its impact will vary between decks. Some decks are disappearing entirely, such as Mew VMAX and Rapid Strike Urshifu. Others may only lose a handful of cards that can be easily replaced with other cards currently in the format or with new cards that actually make the core deck better. Only time will tell on that front. Don't know what the future holds, but Palkia as an archetype survived a devastating rotation in 2023 because Palkia on its own is just that good. My guess is Palkia will find a way to stay in the mix post-rotation.
      Rotation happens every year and it's simply part of the process of maintaining a presence in the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Once you're familiar with the concept, you can plan ahead and make those choices on what cards to buy based on your goals with regards to playing the game. Heck, Mew VMAX will disappear entirely on April 5th in IRL play (March 21st on Pokemon TCG Live), and there will still be players buying those cards because it's a deck they want to play online or for their next IRL events and that shorter lifespan doesn't matter.
      For the time being, make the most of the cards you have!

    Do you prefer to play as first or second with this deck?

    • @shinyocelot04archive
      @shinyocelot04archive ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Second to obtain resources with Irida.

    • @swrodgon

      I mean you’re giving up any chance of attacking first, I’d say it’s more matchup dependent. You don’t want like Miraidon decks to donk you if they go second (which it can easily achieve), probably don’t want to give Roaring Moon ex the initiative to attack either if they go second so I would opt to take those positions if you know the matchup. Otherwise I’d say going first offers a more beneficial advantage in other matchups since it means you can vstar if needed or otherwise hammer away attacking first.

      If you go second you can attack with suicune.

    Personally I don’t get how it succeeded in taking 3rd without a lot of luck and/or favorable matchups. Or it could’ve been a weak meta I guess, didn’t stall-lax win that one? Granted stall-lax is a thing and had some other t8 finishes and will probably continue to see a few more, but Palkia Vstar, just don’t get what it’s even favorable against besides weaker basic ex or single prize decks, it just doesn’t have the damage to KO the beefier stage 2 exs and even some stage 1 exs out there.
