So fantastic! Binged it last night bc I couldn't stop watching it. Hilarious, tense and the chemistry of the characters is so believable. Left us with a cliffhanger so I sure hope there is a season 2.
My wife, friends and I just finished season 1 and I must say it was really good and brilliant, on top of it you get to learn more about the insane politics in foreign relations. The series was funny, dramatic and thrilling. Also, Rufus Sewell as Ambassador Hal Wyler is our favorite character, we love the chemistry between his character and Keri’s as the main role, it is bold and cute which is humorous and enjoyable to watch which I think makes the series even better. Rufus’ such a charismatic great actor and is perfect for the mysterious politician character of Hal. I hope he stays up until the coming season. Overall tho, we loved it 💯
Fantastic series. Most sophisticated writing I have experienced about foreign policy politics. Rufus's speech. in the last episode, was fantastic, and could have been drawn from an international relations textbook. Need more!!
Binged-watched last night! Ive been a fan of Keri and Rufus for a long time. I haven’t seen this actors-pairing yet… thinking I might get bored… But just at the 1st epi, I was already hooked! Can’t wait for the next season.
OMG! I loved, loved, loved Keri and Rufus in this show. What a complicated relationship they portray. And the writing, the dialogue is so good, so smart. Can't wait for season 2!
re: that "tussle" - best part was the 2 body guards watching from a distance and discussing whether they should step-in to break it up because "Hal" was getting clobbered by "Kate," saying, "We're not his detail, we're hers," (or some-such). Very dry, British moment that made me howl with laughter!
Why was it hard to watch? I have finished it all and none of the episodes were hard to watch... can you kindly explain? I am wondering if i missed something 😅
This is really interesting, as before watching this I was just telling my son that I wasn't sure about this show until I got to episode 3 and 4, and then it really piqued my interest. Currently on ep 5 😊
I watched two episodes and couldn’t get past the F word every ten seconds. I just don’t think people in their echelon of society would speak like that.
I know what you mean but I guess one has to suspend disbelief for most dramatic shows - and both Kate and Hal are supposed to be mavericks. So far I think it well-written and I enjoy the actors, so am prepared to accept some slightly preposterous stuff.

But, c’mon, a candidate to be one-heart beat away from the nuclear trigger not having control of herself in a professional setting and getting into a dust-up with her hubby. Please. That is not good writing. In fact, it’s quite pathetic. A viewer, in my opinion, deserves better given the type of talent on the screen. Keri, hustle up some of "The Americans" writers.. If you’re going to give 4/5 years of your life to this project, demand the best.

He would regale us with stories of drugs, sex scandals, gambling, etc. Political appointees who needed help tying their shoes. Career people ready to step on their lifelong friends to get a promotion. It's amazing that we haven't all blown ourselves up yet. By the way, the creator of The Diplomat is Debora Cahn, who was a key writer on a little show called The West Wing. Have you heard of it?
