I remember seeing this on a comment on another video where the news reports were very quiet, that being that the quiet news reports fit in with the lore and the idea that they're supposed to be hidden within the game to make it seem like an actual puzzle to determine the killer. I also think the Vinny/Somari part could also be fitting in a sense of it being a bait and switch on the killer's part to throw off the player briefly, like the initial intention was to make the game look like it was based on Somari/Sonic NES Rom Hack, only to take that away with the reveal of what the game has actually been telling us this whole time

The one and only problem is the news reports are to soft volume in a loud song
