    Hi from an ex wine country boy.
    I enjoyed your video. I've just started to get into resin this year (UV resin)
    I grew up in Napa. California's wine country is beautiful.
    I think I'll check out mica powder for my bext project. I've only used glow in the dark powder so far.
    If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out thermoplastic beads. They're a lot of fun, and have practical use as well, due to their high strength and easy moldability.
    Cheers!

    Born and raised in CA wine country, so had to click the link from Zac Higgins video. So glad I did! You have fantastic colors and your videos have been a huge help. Just getting started with resin and have some specific ideas what I want to do. Just need to get familiar with resins and colorants and figure out the how to...have SO much to learn and will have fun doing it. Hard part is waiting for the mica powders to arrive! Looking forward to seeing more videos from you and more powders.

      Heather, thank you for your order! I grew up in Sebastopol, and my wife and I just bought a house in Santa Rosa! What a small world.

      @@CaseyMartin707 Congrats on your house! Received the mica powders today and they are beautiful!!! You shipped them the next day and out of curiosity I added up the miles the package traveled to be delivered roughly 15 miles from where it was sent. It traveled 200 miles!!! From Seb to Burlingame, to San Francisco to San Mateo to be delivered to Santa Rosa. Again, colors are beautiful and Hope to use them this weekend!

    Thanks for this video. I've been looking for final confirmation as to whether or not I could mix Mica powder with dye. Any tips for using it in a wood dye to get a slightly metallic look?

    • @CaseyMartin707
      @CaseyMartin707  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alumilite sells some great metallic powders that works well for that. My royal gold works well. But there’s a lot out there if you search for metallic mica powders

    Is it acceptable to apply resin over mica powder?...a method of a tack glue to brush on mica, then apply resin.
    It may hing on the bond strength of the tack glue, but is it likely to have good bonding, compatibility?
    It may get stepped on & abused.

    Hi Casey, thanks for posting. I got some good info from this. I’m just getting started with all of this so it’s helpful. If I had to give you a critique I would have like a kind of starting point for the amount of mica for say a pen blank or a larger block. I do understand that it depends on the look that you are going for. Although for those just starting out a number would be helpful. Say if you want this look add 1 gram then adjust if needed. When it comes down to it we all just need to experiment. Keep these coming!

    • @CaseyMartin707
      @CaseyMartin707  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say 1/4-1/2 teaspoon should be plenty for anything 200 grams or less.

    I am a fan of your work, the problem is that I do not speak English, very little, it would be interesting to make the video with Spanish subtitles since there is a large community of Spaniards who value their work. Thank my Lord

    Thank you so much because I've been so confused about mica powders. I do fluid art and I don't want to use them for the coloring I want use the powder when I resin my art pieces just to add a little extra sparkle. I have been searching for days to try to find something on TH-cam for what I want to do. So, is it possible to use the mica powder in the resin just to add a little bit of sparkle?

    • @CaseyMartin707
      @CaseyMartin707  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is totally possible!

      @@CaseyMartin707 I have never used resin before. So, please, tell me do I just put a very little at a time? I am embellishing a piece right now and then I want to resin it and just add a little bit of purple and blue mica powder in the resin. Not a lot at all just enough for when the sun shines on it a little sparkle will show. I am not a glitter girl. I just want the shimmer. I still want my artwork to be visible. 😊 I don't want to mess this up. I reached out to so many people and nobody has gotten back to me. So thank you from the bottom of my heart. If this works you will have a new customer for life.
