Chanyeol's rap part in Lightsaber is legendary
You chose to react to one of my favorite sections of any concert they have ever done, is insane how high energy Exo songs AND choreo are ,they are superhuman for keeping that up for hours and have the nerve to sound just like the CD
It's actually the other way around. Star Wars producers saw exo's concert performance for ElDorado on youtube and decided they wanted a collaboration with exo for the latest Star Wars franchise in 2015. It was quite a huge gig, since exo also had the permission to produce their own lightsaber merch and become one of the promotional team in South Korea for the movie that was released.

As you saw in the concert performance, all the EXO members are singing in "Lightsaber", but in the MV you only see Baekhyun, Kai and Sehun. I'm not sure why SM chose to only include these members in the MV, but I am sure it probably has to do with EXO's storyline. As you may have noticed, they seem to be on a mission. For example, we see Sehun in the hotel and he is walking down the hall with all the doors on both sides of them. As part of EXO's storyline, it is thought that EXO uses doors as portals to other dimensions or ways to travel throughout history. So theories speculate that one of the things the members are doing is searching for the right door that will allow them to escape or travel to each other, etc.
Did you read the sign on the wall of the club? Do you know why Sehun had to turn in his lightsaber before entering the Jedi club? The sign says something like, "This is a lightsaber free zone, all weapons must be checked at the door." ;)
I also think that the scene with Sehun on the motorcycle is connected to the fact that we see Sehun sitting on a motorcycle in EXO's "Tempo" MV and also in their "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV.
Also, at the very end we see the lights come back on in the dark hallway of the hotel. I think this is showing Baekhyun using his power of light. He may have turned the lights off to conceal something, then as he exits the space, the lights pop back on.
EXO have so much influence on international pop culture that big western companies, such as Disney are coming to them and asking them to partner with them. "Lightsaber" was a collaboration between Disney, which owns the Star Wars franchise, and EXO as a way to help Disney promote the most recent release, at that time, of their Star Wars movie "The Force Awakens".
So, SM came up with the song "Lightsaber" -- which is sort of a remake of a song SM already had also called "Lightsaber" which we heard used in Kai's pre-debut teaser video -- and EXO's accompanying MV.
Those lightsabers are official Disney brand lightsabers given to them by Disney, so they are as close to authentic as you can get without being the actual movie props.
One of the reasons why SM agreed to partner with Disney on this project was because it fit so well with EXO's storyline and concept. As aliens from Planet Exo, it makes sense that EXO might be Jedis as well. :D
And like everything that EXO does, flowers even play a part in their live stages. Flowers are a central part of EXO's storyline, so we often see flowers in things to do with EXO. Although I am not sure yet what the significance of blue roses is, blue roses seem to have an important part in the story as well. For example, we also see Sehun with a blue rose in their "Love Shot" MV.
You also see during "Lightsaber," leading into the rap section, on the floor they show an image of swirling flames, which is the combination of Chanyeol's fire power and Sehun's wind power, which are the two members who are the main rappers of the group.
And yes, they built a huge rain machine and moat special for this concert tour. They had water elements in a lot of their songs during this concert. You don't build something that large and expensive and only use it for one song. LOL ;)
This concert is in Japan, and if you notice for "Lightsaber" they are singing in Japanese -- "Lightsaber" is one of EXO's Japanese songs, so that is why the MV is so short because traditionally, most Japanese MVs use an abridged version of the song. I think It's part of Japan's marketing strategy to make you buy the song or album in order to hear the full song. So, most of the time, to hear the whole song you have to see it live in concert like this. (As you heard in the MV, they also have a Korean version. And like most of EXO's songs, they have a Mandarin version of "Lightsaber", as well.)
Rumor has it that an executive from Disney happened to catch EXO's performance of "El Dorado" at one of their concerts -- in which EXO also has choreography that uses lightsaber-like lightsticks -- and that's how they were inspired with the idea to ask EXO to collaborate with them on this project. Also, as one of the big 3 Entertainment companies in Korea and around the world, SM has had a relationship with Disney for a long time now and SM has partnered with Disney to produce programs for Disney Channel Korea in the past. Many of the members of NCT got their start pre-debut as members of Korea's Mickey Mouse Club and they starred on the well known variety show which aired on Disney Channel Korea.
I never quite understood why this concert video was set up the way it was, these performances were all at the same concert and part of the same set, so they were all performed one right after the other without any break, but for some reason this compilation video was put together with these performances out of order. So, "Transformer" and "Overdose" actually came before "Lightsaber," that's why they were wet at the end of "Lightsaber" but dry when you see them in the next song.
Fun fact: In the middle of "Transformer," when EXO makes that picture in their dance, if you know what you are looking at, you will notice that they are using their arms and bodies to "transform" into EXO's hexagon symbol and they spell E-X-O.
If you think these performances are amazing, just wait until you see a whole concert. Kpop concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform this intensely while singing live pretty much the whole time. In this concert they probably performed 20 to 30 songs and they never took more than a 5 minute break in between sets to change their clothes and set up for the next set of songs. So, what you experienced in this video is only a small snippet of what you can expect for the whole concert.
Now you see why EXO concerts sell out so quickly because everyone wants a chance to see them perform live. EXO are one of the top selling world artists. Their concerts sell out some of the largest concert venues around the world and they are one of the hardest tickets to get. They hold the record for selling out 230,000 seats in 0.2 seconds. The mad dash to secure a ticket to one of their concerts often crashes ticket selling websites even before tickets go on sale. And that is not an exaggeration. They literally sell out in the blink of an eye in every country they tour in. They are world artists on a whole other level.

Every time he says Kai-a, I start laughing. EXO was on a radio program, doing some skit, where they took on other personalities in funny voices. Kai answered in this high pitched little old lady voice , I’m Kai-a. He brought the studio down.
@@judycasley108 Jong-in does do it at times in intros adding ah/ya... I'm EXO Kai-ya... It's faint but sometimes you hear it. ABtheKreator is just messing with us when he adds the A at the end.
