There is one thing that cannot be denied, about FF8: That game had one of the best soundtracks in the series. Maybe THE best for the fact that Faye Wong had such a great love song in the final scenes of the game. Absolutely great battle theme for the random encounters.
It's a story about a group of war orphans trained from a young age, being sent to fight the same wars as their ancestors, killing soldiers and assassinating world leaders being manipulated by a sorceress transcending time and space to gain power throughout history. And this is the battle music for such a story.
I can imagine the FFVIII remake have MMO gameplay to it via the SEED missions. I've always felt that the SEED mercenary aspect of the game had so much potential in making the game have more things to do. I hope the remake will flesh it out more.

That is some daaaark dark epic shit and nothing else hits like that. Granted they haven't chosen to go that route again (dark) as far as composition, but still. Either way, FFVIII will always have a special place in my heart.
I feel like I should be watching a western with sci-fi elements spliced in, and the characters are doing some massive train heist on robot horseback, while being chased by a large tornado & half the Galbadian army. This is that level of epic.
I mean there is a train heist and you get chased by a mechanical spider that could wipe out half the Galbadian army. Meanwhile you're having weird visions as literal time and space coalesce around you and you face all this with a crossbow, nunchuks, a whip, your fists, and a sword that's also a gun.
this is perfect for my dungeons and dragons campaign. I am going to have a full soundtrack to my campaign using traditional classical music like Wagner, Mendelssohn, Griegg etc and also video game music. This one is set to a boss battle against a giant Land Wurm in the Gteat Plains of Argoth.
this orchestral arrange for Final Fantasy VIII overworld normal battles is very inspiring. I wish TH-cam had a Repeat function. HEY @TH-cam! ADD A REPEAT FUNCTION!, or is that just a premo feature?
I mean there's a way around the issue though...I just gotta get my hands on the OST .mp3 file, and do some creative editing to try and recreate it, which I kinda really wanna do anyway.

Song doesn't even start till 1 minute in ... Funny thing is I remember the song SO perfectly ... and I never beat the game, never will (terrible battle system compared to other FFs). I still wonder how the story went ... I hope they remake this. Oh and I hate this game a lot, lol. I don't know why but I'll always dislike it.

If they nailed the battle system it probably would've been hailed as the best ever. Maybe my theres a hint of nostalgia in that assessment, however. It was my first FF, but I loved it so much and couldn't understand why everybody hated it. Long after I beat the game, I kept finding new ways to refine materials and junction interesting combinations. One fault of the junction system was that it really doesn't really do much until late in the game and after an extraordinary investment, but it was amazing by the end. Its hard for me to objectively compare it to other games since I was young and it still holds so much nostalgia, but I still have very fond memories about the mind-bending ending.
