I was able to see her several times already and everytime I‘m amazed once again. I‘ve been to many European cities and saw a lot of famous sculptures and statues but I think la Victoire de Samothrace will always be my favourite. Merci beaucoup au personnel du Louvre
As a Greek I want to thank you France for take caring this magnificent piece of art and place it in such a great spot inside the Louvre. I don't want the statue to return to Greece for various reasons which I won't mention here. It represent Hellenic civilation for millions of people around the world and you deserved to have it in your museum.
I am sure one day it will return, and I support that. But not today or anytime soon. Even the Elgin marbles should return at some date in the future where all others are returned home to their countries as well--say, in 2320
Another one (from hundreds/thousands) ancient Greek masterpieces.
Up until I laid my eyes on her - I was fatigued, jostled by the crowds & was completely disoriented trying to figure out how to make the 3D audio-visual guide work. In my haste to get to the over-hyphed Mona Lisa - can you believe that I failed to notice!
I will never forget the moment I looked up (from the side top of staircase) & beheld her form in motion....my head cleared instantly & my jaw dropped!!
In a way - I was so glad I had never heard of her existence (except for branded Nike shoes & Rolls Royce emblem) - bcos it is one of those moments I will never forget...!! This was back in Oct 2018 - my first visit ever to Louvre & hopefully past Covid19 - there will be many more :) :)
Superbe

A découvrir ici : th-cam.com/video/dsOP1B1H2Zs/w-d-xo.html
So the Louvre do not have the money to pay someone to add some captions?... and, not only in French, but other languages as well... :(
not all, but some people is interested in more than images.
im mexican so i speak spanish and im watching and understanding this in french, as i do with many english videos of enterprises that have the money to pay for translations. why you english speakers all the time think that everybody has to undertand your language but you never learn another language?
✌💛
anyone can tell me the name of the music when nike appears?
This magnificent piece of art belongs to Greece, it is a pity that the Museum doesn't have the intention to return it to its country...
your comment is a pity
she was in pieces in greece
french saved her, french keep her, that's more than fair
PIERRE CAZETTE Yes, sure, educate yourself. Typical answer from someone with the attidute of a French colonialist. I am glad that the majority of people from France do not share the same opinions.I suppose you believe the same for the Parthenon Marbles in the British Museum.
Greece is a french colony? since when?
Who must be educated? We didn't stole the statue. Greeks didn't give a shit about his heritage until french or british saved it and placed it in museums. Samothrace was lost for centuries before a frenchman saved her. Greeks are incapable to build a strong country and save their art, who's to blame? French? British? Or Greeks?
Nobody in France wants to see samothrace leave the louvre, that's only in your dream. There are many french cloisters in the MET in NY because of our negligence and we're not whyning...it's our fault. Americans saved those french masterpieces and we don't blame them.
PIERRE CAZETTE The majority of Greece was under the turkish occupation, so when this piece of art was found, the Frenches asked permission from the Sultan to take it.Educate yourself a bit, even from wikipedia! When i use the term "French colonist", i don't mean it literally, but metaphorically, for the person who thinks that everything belongs to him
i know for ottoman empire and i know that french and british saved lots art from greece because greeks were not enough strong to make it. Everything doesn't belong to france but samothrace does.
👏👏👏
@@user-ob2zb7yp3p j’ai l’air de parler grec ?
BRING HER BACK, WHERE SHE BELONGS, WHERE SHE COMES FROM!!!
she was in pieces in greece
french saved her, french keep her, that's more than fair
We thank them for that but we have a great museum now, so it is not fair my friend.
Je fait sa a l'ecole
Watch a cool version of it being made here! th-cam.com/video/DjQgarMo1z4/w-d-xo.html
that is a flood body of the flood the bible speaks about to me
Martinez mauvais directeur
come on. how about some english subtitle so that PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD can understand what the babble is all about. who the hell speaks this lingo anymore, beside Francistan??
Mmmm yes, why the hell would French people speak French? Lol
oh, so they are the only PEOPLE on the planet. gee, I wondered why the garlic wiff was so strong in the air. TH-cam reaches the world. only tribes and tribally-minded people place things on TH-cam to reach their own tribal folks alone
@@TWOCOWS1 you do get my point right? Perhaps their target audience of whoever paid them to create the video was merely their fellow countrymen, so they didn't bother to do any extra work than what they got told. But who knows. Lots of non-English TH-cam videos exist without English subtitles.
it is clear now. yes i get ot. thank you. i was saying that it would be so easy to make everything accessible around the world by adding the option to have an english subtitle. but yes, i do get your point. thanx
