    It would've been so easy for the Kennedy Center to just award Lin, but they recognized how the collaboration between the four is what made Hamilton a masterpiece. This interview is such a great lesson in that it takes a village, so if you're struggling creatively are artistically, meeting the right collaborator can make all the difference.

    Even in this interview you can see how much they are a well-oiled machine. They listen when one of them is speaking. It's like their brains are tuned in to each other, even just to find the next sentence that's going to be spoken to answer the question. Most interviews are like a back and forth, question and answer, sort of set up but this feels like a genuine conversation, like we're all just sitting down and chatting about how incredible this phenomena we call Hamilton has been and will forever be. Seeing them all flow like this, it's no wonder how this musical became what it is. They are all so skilled and work so well together, I genuinely hope they collaborate on more projects in the future. They are the dream team.

    Hamilton has a FANTASTIC soundtrack kudos to all these guys. However, the lighting in Hamilton REALLY helps with telling this story. I feel like that is one of the things of this show really gets overlooked in some places.

    • @SandraSaysStuff
      @SandraSaysStuff 5 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Benjamin Martis I'm so glad to hear someone else point that out. I just saw the show for the first time in Puerto Rico and I came in totally blind (the only song I'd heard/seen before was the opening number) and I was BLOWN AWAY by the lighting design for the show. It does such an excellent job at visually highlighting all the elements of the story. Personally, I simply hadn't experienced a show where lighting was such an integral part in the storytelling. It just made every moment on stage into a beautifully composed still image.

    I love the part around 21:00 where they're talking about the sum of their experiences. I still haven't seen the show and have only listened to the soundtrack (about a dozen times so far) but when Hamilton says "Sit down, John!" I squealed with delight because that's from 1776 - I read the screenplay in the mid-70's and got the album (showing my age) just a bit later and pretty much wore it out. I wager I'll do the same to the Hamilton DVD when I get my hands on it. So many little "Easter eggs" in this show - so much fun to find them!

    I feel like through this interview (and many others, of course, but this one in general) you really get the sense of the fact that they didn't think this was going to be as big as it got. Nowhere NEAR as big as it got. But in the deepest corner of their mind they always knew. They always knew it was going to be great, going to be different, going to be something that helped shape a generation. But this couldn't have come about in any other way. It had to be this way, and this way was the perfect way it came. And I think that thought is beautiful.

    I've had the opportunity to watch this movie or play twice and every time I watched it it was more and more exciting. It seemed like it documented history but then it also made you wanna go out every search history more and understand what our forefathers really were thinking and how they develop this country. I thought this rendition was superbes I can't believe that Disney was kind enough to put this on live streaming. I can't get enough of it . The songs blew me away, they seem to come together with ease. And I literally felt the participants were really reliving the parts as if it was about to them.
    Definitely worth the watch, it's worth your time of 2 and a 1/2 hours, I can't get enough like I said.

    These four men are legends,each one of them made Hamilton what it is today.But to me,Lin and Alex are the best,not because they are better at their jobs or something like that.But because they were part of the creation of the songs.Lin with his amazing hability to write,rhyme and create really touching and smart lyrics and Alex being the incredible musician creating beautiful and memorable melodies with all that instruments together.I love all of them because they brought Hamilton out of Lin's head😅But these two are really what i personal appreciate in art because i want to do something like that one day.They're such in inspiration to me.

    I hope that I be one day in the room where it happens, untill that moment I listen to the soundtracks (with voice and the instrumental album) to discover every single beat and secret of the show, also I have the source metarial, the book by Ron chernow. I've never seen the show but I'll consider myself a huge fan, if not a huge Lin-Manuel Miranda fan. he's really the greatest writer of the 21st century AKA the new Shakespeare

    When Alex talked about the American pride that welled up in him, I can relate to that so much. Watching this musical makes me realize just how incredible America's history is, and what a unique and special thing we have here. It's worth fighting for. Makes me wish we had leaders like that today.

    So refreshing to be a fly on the wall listening to this great collaborative
    Q & A first off I got the Director Thomas Kail and Alex the Sound Composor mixed up ... What a Handsome bunch .... What Thomas said describes Hamilton's success pulled the painting off the wall into the present day and made them Human again ..although Hamilton made them really cool too!

    I really think it says something great about Lin that he uses "married" to mean being lifelong collaborators making decisions together.
    People use the "fighting like an old married couple" idea so much, I dont think I've ever heard someone describe something as being like a marriage in the sense of what a successful marriage should actually be. What a breath of fresh air he is.

    John, I'm wondering about the length of this interview....39 minutes+ minutes...Is this a standard way of doing interviews for "This Morning?".....condense the best from a long interview? Do you tell your interviewees ..."ok...we need you for an hour " These guys must of had time restraints no? .What a treat to experience this long form....Thanks you for posting
