Like your channels. I live in Shallotte, South of Wilmington. I don't have a fence around yard and the deer eat everything but rosemary. I've started growing microgreens inside now. Keep up the great information. God bless you
I'm curious, do you know how good the germination rates of carrots as the seeds get older? Wasn't sure if they're like onions where I have to buy seeds every year.
I love your channel. It's 8' outside, but thinking about the garden makes me happy. I grew the half longs last year and they did great and taste wonderful.
The funny thing about seed packets you get in the big box stores from the Burpee stand is those varieties are often not on their website! Nantes Half-Long had the same attributes, so I'm guessing it's either same same variety and they re-named it, or it's so close that they've substituted the variety.
I specifically do not give my carrots any liquid fertilizer, or any fertilizer, really. I’ll sprinkle some 5-5-5 organic granules over the trench after I sow the seed, but after that, I don’t give them anything. They seem to do best in soil rich in organic matter, but not actively fertilized.
THANK YOU!!! I have always had trouble growing carrots. I now realize that it's because my raised beds are about the same height as yours. I will be trying the Nantes Supreme this year (N.J.) Thanks again.

one of my 2025 goals is to grow carrots better in my clay soil!! Thanks MG!

I’m growing half carrots in containers! They are very easy to grow and my dog Gibbs loves them😅 they got sweeter as the weather got cooler
wow thats a good variety!
Thanks. I've always struggled when I've tried growing carrots.

You're welcome!

"Nantes Supreme" isn't found on the Burpee website. Is "Nantes Half Long" the same thing?

I tried growing nantes carrots but they only grew green tops and never rooted. I might need to amend my bed.
For growing carrots in a container should i look for varieties that would potentially reach the bottom at maximum size, or go a few inches shorter?
I would definitely get varieties that grow several inches shorter. Give them a nice buffer.
@@2MinuteGardenTips once again, thanks for the tips! Love the channel!
Are the huge carrots I see in Taiwan a different kind of carrot than the US? The ones in Taiwan are as big as large potatoes.
I read the other day that too much nitrogen can make your carrots fork. Is that something you’ve heard?

I think the closest thing is the Nantes Half Long, now. I linked to them in the video description from Burpee.
