Following the steps laid out in this guide will help you to get the achievement "Bad Romeance"

I'm doing that one now (on Beta). I was in a good position at the start of Barbarossa but some things went weird (historical on). Japan lost to China, Italy took the Suez Canal and no Allied invasions have lasted. I was intending to invade Russia and then take enough industry and population to use in a back stab on the Axis, then use that to get the Allies. With the failure of the Allies, I am having to attack a very powerful Axis. I have started my attack (in 1945, to get access to decent tanks and aircraft) and have regained German held Russia and the Suez Canal. I'm just holding in the Balkans and am about to do a big push into Germany. I think my strategy was fine but the poor performance of the Allies has left the work to me.
Edit. Expand the Saadabad Pact fails unless you have already created a faction. Do it before the focus completes and all 3 will join (I boosted opinion but not sure if it was needed).
In my playthrough I liberated Moldova in the Romania peace deal and I gave it Bucovina and the Soviets didn't even justify on them, more than that I took southern Bessarabia for myself and they didn't get a claim on it.

after you take dobruja you could built an airport there, giving you air superiority and a little bit extra cas damage to push
Note that you can befriend the communists later once you turn fascist. This allows you to get the Army Regrouping guy and a political advisor with recruitable population increase and garrison buff.

I find attacking Bulgaria and make them a puppet easier. I do this before going to war with Turkey. When Turkey is out of the fight I can focus dealing with Romania. I find it annoying how the Soviets, Hungarians, and Bulgarians will take Romanian territory with key events. Especially, when you have control of the land.

well for me was a defense war against soviets, i join axis, win the war with 40%, then i leave axis to go war against italy, join allies who kicked me several times xD but i win with 60% war score.
maybe you play greece again for "this is madness" and the other achievement who require win civil war before 1937.
I have tried this 3 times on present updates and dlc. i cant get one tile from turkey

Tip: disable Death or Dishonor and No Step Back to keep Romania and Russia at an IQ of 3, plus without it Romania cant form the Balkan entente and ruin your run
But it doesnt garantee turkey either

For me, Turkey doesn't attack my line :/ I managed to do this 2 times, and since then every run was weird.. August of 37, romania brings all of it's troops to the line.. Like WTF

It's probably just me not being good enough at the game yet but first run the whole comintern helped turkey through romania on non historical before I could break through and 2nd time the axis came to fuck me over... I guess I'll stick with playing as Mosley for a while a lot easier
That's why I don't make guides for non historical. Because the world goes crazy and nothing can be predicted. Just follow the guide on historical, that's how it was intended

Non-Historical singleplayer game as Monarchist Britan, and Greece finished it, carves up turkey in one of my first games, and lets me have the kurds and turkey as a puppet.

It only never completes when Greece cooperates with the EEE. If they don't, then it proceeds as normal for the correct time.
Does anyone have any tips for following the guides from the previous game version/previous expansion? I've tried but I have found that it can be challenging because of how many things get changed with each expansion.
Could you please make a guide for Republican Greece.

Ended up doing a world conquest as Byzantium in the few days after this DLC released, just activated the Beta, signed in and got the Achievement! :) thx bittersteel ;)

A thing I've always wondered: how come Greece doesn't have a core on Cyprus? Bulgaria has a core on Northern Macedonia on top of a core of an independent Northern Macedonia. The same should happen in Cyprus.
You get a core on it through the Themata decisions (from which you need more teritorry to take the decision, Triumph over Levant i think) or if you purchase it through the Non-Aligned branch of the focus tree "Achieving Enosis".
If the game were more historically accurate, Greece should have claims and cores on the Dodecanese, Cyprus, and Western Anatolia

@@duvarduvar387 The Greeks believe much of Western Turkey and the Aegean to be historically Greek lands, so allowing Greece to re-conquer parts of Anatolia/Turkey and claiming them as cores makes historic sense especially in the context of what Greek ethno-nationalist irredentists would have thought not in our current timeline but in 1936 in the aftermath of the Greco-Turkish war of 1919-1922 which would have been a recent living memory for those living in the 30s/40s. Allowing options for acquiring cores on once historic greek lands before Ottoman and Turkish conquest makes a lot of historic sense from a nationalist perspective.
@@duvarduvar387 There was a greek population until the 1920ies. Then Turkey drove them out of the country. In the coastal regions only, not in the hinterland. It has been living there since ancient times.
Little advice: dont use the highest attack dmg general for your army, use the default one that cna get the makeshift bridges trait, to reduce river crossing penalty by 90% via command power. Its way more dmg than if you have a attack 5 general, even tho it costs command power. but 7 days are way enough to cross a river, route the enemy and encircle them.
Also, that 10% movement speed that you can get is a huge bonus. So much easier to overrun enemies, or maneuver around and surround enemy units.

I recommend using "crush the fascist" before negotiation with them. Its free stability and war support, and they become friendly anyway later on.
Also, it allows you to befriend communist later on for this juicy 15% facttort.

I think the Hellas/Byzantine path of Greece is my personal favorite out of any Hoi4 paths atm.
Trying this with current DLC, doesn't go favorably.....
No supply hub up north so need to build 1 with rail network of lvl 2 to capital, or a dock in the region, to make an attack their viable.
Then, Turkey either goes for Baltic security calling in Yugo, or Romania forms it's pact and calls them in....
Need a new strat with the current game state to make it viable now :/

Could someone help me with turkey. I dont think this guide works anymore, because i cannot get window to attack istanbul, because turkey keeps pushing my lines. They lose a lot of their army but so do i. And I also have a lot supply problems so my troops in turkish border are always low on suplies. This guide was made before this new supply patch. God I only want to get good at this game and conquer turkey as greece

don't forget that there's a port in Gallipoli now.
They typically dont put too many troops on the south of edirne though so pushing them out and encircling them again is quite easy

@@SasafrasYT in ww1 the ottoman empire and the UK had a fierce battle at the cliffs of Gallipoli. Many british young men died there (and the ottomans defended their sandcastle). Sabaton, a swedish rock/metalband made a song about this, named cliffs of Gallipoli.
The event was actually almost a breaking point for the british public war support (ww1)!
@@gt-battlezone7135 i had heard of the event, i just didnt know it was on cliffs, i assumed it was a port or beach. guess it was more of an Okinawa situation than a Omaha one.
I think this might not work as well as it used to with NSB, mostly because the AI is a fair bit smarter and Romania will stack troops on all their coastal tiles, making naval landings impossible. Maybe if you rush Bulgaria before Turkey and puppet them (but don't call them into the war) that'll make them park more troops on their southern border instead. You also want to build a lv1 port in Alexandroupolis for supply's sake (much cheaper than rail/hub).
I did this a few days back. Declaring Byzantium was almost the last thing I did, which gave me manpower problems throughout. I was keen to see a cleaner run.
Edit: I did it on WTT (since the Wiki said it didn't work on BotB). It worked but the process was very different (no guide was effective due to changes in the base game).
I've had a game where Venizelos died in 1942
First time I tried Romania joined axis super early, on historical.... second time turkey naval invaded, I hate my luck
Keep the Turkish navy at bay with strike force, you should have the naval supremacy to prevent landings
Do a me and let turkey invade Greece. Naval invade back onto Athens from Crete and spend 70% of the time fighting them in the hills and mountains while they struggle to push in Thrace for some reason, run out of equipment and then you steamroll them with 10 divisions.
Yeah it was bad, but it was MP, so it was fun.
This is the only guide on TH-cam that actually has my armies being as effective as youtubers armies. 10/10 learned a lot
Hahaha! Never surrender! I was at war with Turkey. They were at 56 percent capitulation. Romania with Turkey of course... But then I see, "Yugoslavia is now your enemy". I pause the game, yell out "f*ck this shit". I swore never to give up. I took over half of my divisions to the Yugo border and started to fight for my fkn life!
I started to fall. Enemy troops were already at Ioannina. Then suddenly by the grace of Zeus, Aries, and all the gods above, Turkey capitulated as well as Yugoslavia. As the icing on the cake, Bucharest signed a peace deal. Remember my fellow greeks.. Never surrender, for the motherland!

Draculas Revenge is easy if u go the "Splitting Yugoslavia path", get guaranteed by France and GB, declare on Romania and only call in your Transilvania puppet, giving them the territories :)
Czechmate is actually rather easy too, if you just want the achievement. You only need to control Munich, not own, so basically stick to democracy for the juicy defensive bonuses, get the forts up, defend your borders and make a paratrooper division, land on Munich, bam achievement done :)

Every game oct Turkey forms the Balken Entente and I get fucked. Is it just my shit RNG or is it just unplayable? Tried it 3 times now.

Had an amazing run and bam Soviet invasion through Anatolia. Troops were in Italy fighting and in Yugoslavia holding the Germans back. Soviets puppeted me :( Was fun though

A good guide as always, but it bugs me out why in my runs hungary joins the axis early and romania gives up everything in january 1940. too much rng
No Step Back has REALLY buggered this. The Greeks have never heard of the train it seems so supply is atrocious. Supply is so bad at the Turkish border that they will push you back because they have a port to supply from.
I am about to say with No Step Back this is impossible. You just can't break the Turkish line to even do the cheesy way of defeating them. Not even with 27 width 9-3 infantry and sitting on a port.
EDIT: Unless there is some trick you can do this is now impossible w/ No Step Back. You just can't break the Turkish line and you don't have enough industry / manpower to out muscle Turkey. Even with 27w Inf and SFP you will get CLOSE to breaking the line but then it starts reinforcing from the adjacent tiles and you de-org. I've even tried CAS to break it and it just wont. Even if you get the Trickster general to get makeshift bridges you can't do it. The Turks just have better supply in that region and your offense grinds down to a halt. The Turks also refuse to attack my lines so I can't even wear them down that way.
@@timothyhouse1622 build 1 civ, build a port near the frontline. research train somewhere before the war and use the decision that gives you 15 trains, it worked for me

I think that if you get the beta now (or wait for the full patch) and reload that save you should get the achievement
I dont get it... i did the "revive the double headed eagle" focus and qonquered turkey. But the option to revive byzantium didnt pop up. Btw kurdistan was around but i conquered it. What to do?
I didnt have the kurds, yet i still didnt have the option to revive it. anyone an idea?

in my run , i did exactly the same things, just romania brings about 10 units to help turkey, italy declares war on me (nov 1938) and bulgaria is looking for a piece of this cake as well..Time to return to the menu

It's a Paradox game. Things never really stop being bonkers. So far, I've seen Germany backstab me as a Russian rebel for reasons unknown, Germany change Russia's ideology during a peace deal and let the new brown party Russia join the Allies, Japan somehow losing in China thanks to American involvement and then team up with its former enemies against Communist China and the Soviet Union because America never invaded the home islands or drop nukes to end the war. All this and more on Historical Mode. Oh yeah! Current attempt at brown party US: Earhart survives and joins my Air Force, the Hindenburg survives its trip to New Jersey but then explodes when Rudolf Hess hijacks it, who parachutes to safety and now occupies the penthouse suite at the Tower of London.
Frankly, with the world always going off the rails anyway I might as well keep Historical off to begin with.
If ach is done on 1.10.1 it won't trigger but you can load the beta patch and play one ingame hour on savegame to get ach.

Funny thing : Venizelos died one day after I started the game in my first run xD
This happened to me 2 times in a row. Ive had multiple games where he dies in the first month and i had him die 3 times in the same game
Finally got the achievement after I don´t know how many attempts, went a slightly different route by taking out Bulgaria first then puppeting them before going for Turkey-Romania-Hungry. Joined the Axis after Russia declared on me, didn´t join in the war with the Allies, after Russia fell I puppeted them in the peace deal then left the Axis and declared on Italy then joined the Allies. Managed a 12% war score to get Italy in the peace deal.
The strat for Turkey doesn't work anymore, the supply is awful on the border so it is almost impossible to push through the Turkish line, build a port or fall back to Thessaloniki and do it there, I wasted so much time trying to do it around Edirne that Romania joined the Axis and dragged Germany and Italy in
Worst case scenario for Venizelos dying? BEFORE THE VENIZELISTS WIN THE ELECTION this game is bs sometimes lol
So much randomness that is nearly no guide.

Didnt work sadly, romania joined the allies, turkey went into a 3 stage civil war against ottomans and kurdistan, and i got killed by british marines. I feel like the only way of succeeding is having germany go unaligned so theres no ww2 and no world tension, otherwise its almost impossible
right, so just to be clear. the whole defaulting your debt thing costs the same amount of pp as getting rid of your debt the normal way, the only difference is you dont get a temp national spirit for 30 days called small or large debt payments. but then again i dont think it would matter in the long run because it would mean losing the 15% consumer goods factories debuff really early
You need the PP early on to ramp up your country for the early wars. Later on,you can afford the big costs.
Fun tip: Right after the election at the start of the game happens, you can crush the monarchists while you are doing your economy focuses and gain some war support and stability for later on. You befriend them anyway after you do compromise with the monarchists focus and get all the bonuses and minsters from that.
6:40 music is really telling you how much he's excited about reviving the byzantine empire.
For my divisions against turkey I make 6 or 7 fourteen fours for attacking. Then I remove reconnaissance from the horse division and use those to hold the islands and frontline.

I suppose I am the only one who had more fun with Greece and Turkey before BftB...

Because reasons. A specialised tool for the occasion. You don't have the luxury/manpower to squeeze out enough 10/0 and 14/4, so 7/2 is a shitty compromise to manage manpower and industry early on
And to dumb it down for people.
In my first attempt at restoring the Byzantine Empire, Venizelos died on the 3rd of January 1936... I was quite surprised to say the least...

turkey just goes ham and absolutely destroys my units and i can only defend as they attack so much then they just call in yugoslavia and i get rolled and they encircle everything
