Love this. Went to Hastings for a re enactment of the battle in 2008. My sister had it as a "surprise" on my itinerary. About 95% of the crowd were rooting for the Saxons. A real treat to have been there. Well done producing this.

I share my birthday with the battle of Hastings… I wish we could have a glimpse into the ‘what ifs’ of history, I would love to see how England would have developed if the Norman’s had been unsuccessful!
His wasn't the first army to lose when defending a strong position by chasing what they thought was a defeated enemy. I would be interested to know the number of armies that lost because of doing just that! Great stuff again! 👍😁
Very good depiction of the Battle, I remember I was at the Bayeux Tapestry Museum in Bayeux, France that depicted this Battle. I think this battle is also on Age of Empires if I'm correct.
I cant help but think Khaleed Ibn Al Waleed, would have sent a fast, elite, detachment of the Mobile Guard cavalry regiment to search for a way to circumvent the natural obstacles in the flank, and ambush Harold at the most opportune moment by spearheading a surprise rear cavalry charge, while the main army launches a full scale advance. The sheer shock value would deplete significantly the morale of the Saxons and undoubtedly make the Fyrd (made up the largest part of Harold's army) try to flee. Now this is the best moment to send in all units, since a fleeing enemy wont fight back and are easily decimated. This is how Khaleed wiped out elite Roman armies that largely outnumbered his.
Hello, can I request you to make a simulation of this war for us? "Battle of Pelusium" Since it is a war in which the Persians used cats, and I think it is a forgotten war, I don't want to read the complete information and see it in a video, maybe it will be interesting.Thank you for your valuable channel 📍
Ooof ... the Oriflamme was not a Norman banner. That was a French Royal war banner that allegedly went all the way back to Charlemagne. It was always housed in the royal chapel of St. Denis and was only taken out by the French king himself when he marched to war. Duke William and the Normans invaded England carrying a papal banner sent to William by the Pope who blessed his invasion. Very disappointing inaccuracy.
also how do you make your mouse go away and not be in the middle of the video please answer if you can I've been wondering for a while, and you are so good at making these vids I want mine to look like them some time
Not French. Norman's were northmen oh yh that why that land was named Normandy. From vikings that originally came up the river siene and siege Paris. Eventually got granted the land to settle. Rollo was the man. Definitely not French
His name was not William at all but Guilhelm, a mix of Guillaume (my first name in France), Wilhelm (in German) then William (in English) but he never spoke English
Harrrroldddd ! Gives away a penalty in the first half, then does the same again after equalising. Same tactic gone wrong, up steps Norman from the white side and its 2-1. No subs back then so the English leg it.
There's varies accounts ffs. You do realise by this time most stuff was documented. From both sides. Yh there's always a bias depending on who's side is telling but from all the perspectives you can slice down the middle. If you're doubting it happened I'd go back to sleep

What an amazing presentation. It’s like listening to Simon Pegg read historical events.

Why could they not flank with Calvary to weaken the front to begin with ?
Because there was more saxons protecting the reerguard

Why did william nog let his calvary go around and come in the back
Poderia fazer um vídeo mostrando uma guerra entre os elfos da floresta e os anões das colinas de ferro
But for the ill-discipline of the few, the many perished, and the rest of us have a load of French words in our dictionary.

I caught that as well. The French brought out the Oriflame at Crecy, Poitiers and Agincourt all to disaster!
But did you die?
You forgot to mention the French victories at the end of the war of Formigny Castillon and the French winning that war.

I don't think so. the French has the most victories versus defeats along with winnings of wars than any other nations of Europe

Game Name?
Why didn't William outflank the anglosaxons with his cavalry and attacked them from the rear, while his infantry was charging at the shield wall?
The anglo Saxon have an uphill position and heavy armored soldiers, the horse momentum would not be enough to break that.
And a seperate charge would endangered his unprotected cavalry
