INTRODUCTION
Our body is a wonderful machine. It goes on working, sometimes even without our knowledge, especially when we are asleep. It helps to walk, run, eat and think.
WHAT IS OUR BODY MADE UP OF?
Our body is made up of cells. Cells are the building blocks of our body.
ORGAN SYSTEM
An organ system has many organs which work together to perform one action. Many organ systems are present inside our body.
Skeletal System
A skeletal system is made up of bones. It gives shape to the body, helps in the movement of the body parts and also protects the inner organs of the body from getting injured. An adult human being has 206 bones in the body.
Muscular System
All the muscles of the body together form the muscular system. They along with the bones help us to move different parts of our body. There are more than 600 muscles in our body.
Circulatory System
The heart, the blood vessels and the blood make up the circulatory system. The heart pumps blood and blood vessels carry it to the different parts of the body. Blood vessels are thin tubes through which blood flows. The blood carries nutrients to different parts of the body. We can feel our heart pumping by listening to our heartbeats. The average heartbeat of an adult is 72 beats in one minute.
Repository System
The breathing in and out of air is called respiration. The air enters through the nostrils into the nose and move down the windpipe and goes into the lungs. This process is called inhalation. The air then moves out from the lungs into the windpipe and then is let out through the nose. This process is called exhalation. The nose, windpipe and lungs together form our respiratory system.
Digestive System
We all love to eat. The food that we eat gets digested inside our body. The process of changing of food into a simpler form so that it can be used by our body is called digestion. The digestive system helps us in the process of digestion.
Nervous System
The brain, the spinal cord and the nerves form the nervous system. This system controls all our actions. The brain gives instructions to the nerves. The nerves carry these instructions to the muscles, bones and other body parts.
Reproductive System
The process of living beings producing young ones of their own kind is called reproduction. All living things reproduce. It helps life to go on.
Excretory System
Our excretory system removes harmful wastes from the body int the form of solid waste, urine and sweat. The kidneys remove urine, the skin removes sweat and the lungs throw out used up air. If these wastes are not removed from the body, they may cause many health problems.
TIPS TO STAY HEALTHY
All our body parts need food, water and air to work properly. So, make sure you eat healthy food, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly.
