I REALLY like and respect the Porsche shop owner. Genuine, sharp, and quick-witted wasn't enough. He had to be an honest mechanic as well!
A pal of mine had some work done there, a top notch job by all accounts. 👍
@@samuelgarrod8327 Sadly a dying breed :( One that was already rare to come across as it is it seems =/
Gentlemans you have no clue how badly i was waiting for this episode :) THank GOD !!!
Me too!
They have almost 340k views on their first real content video on a freshly created channel. I think they have a clue:)
Love these lads charisma together keep the uploads coming
@Denny-Nien there is a difference between good content generating new viewers and any random content that most from old channels will check it out to just see what's attempting to fill the void
this guys wife must have gone on a forum or reddit and asked “my husbands been cheating, what area of his porsche do i need to petrol bomb to write it off” 😂
I wanna see you repair the loom, some suitably sized wires + open barrel crimps + crimpers + adhesive lined heat shrink, and stagger the joints so you dont end up with a fat loom where all the joins are, white wire to white wire, black to black, purple to purple. How hard can it be ? ;)
Unfortunately at the moment they all black tho 🤣
@@stewyj2893 Well that'll just make it easier then!
@@stewyj2893 Probably easier to clean it up, then go through one at a time, don't cut the whole set.
Cut a section out, replace it and move to the next one. Repeat ad naseum until done and cross your fingers when you turn the ignition.
Means you dont have to worry about keeping track of which is which.
@@stewyj2893Yeh cut back to each side of the burned mess till you get back to good wires and then join them back with some fresh wire.
@@Fazer_600 thats it , that is the correct way to do it , lets hope that the heat didn't go to far trough the wiring and mess a lot
Love it lads, I’m shocked Edwin ain’t cleaning things yet😂😂
I was expecting at least one part to have been wiped over by now haha
Yup .Pass the brake clean.
Edwin cleaning is fun and satisfying
hes a goober
😂😂😂😂😂
£6000 for a loom is crazy… I’m sure old eBay will have a few knocking about!
£6300 plus vat ....... its £7500 before fitting
Bespoke you can get a loom made for 1200 quid so they will be ok ....
with the other damage they have - they might be best off trying to source a bad wreck that has the passenger side in good nick. Not sure how common that interior combo is though!!
They're less than £500 on eBay...
I'd start seriously considering just splicing the hell out of the old loom with such a price tag on a new one. Sure, it's ridiculously tedious and error-prone work, but I reckon it'd be worth it if they can't source one for less.
Vauxhall quoted me a similar price for a gearbox, for my 2015 Combo, just before Christmas. Double what I paid for the van 😂
Surely your best bet is to find an accident damaged/written off 911? Interior and wiring from a single donor car? Great vid by the way
Yeah I don't think this is a bad job or more than a weeks work if you find the right donor.
Can confirm that Will is capable of tearing out an interior! Can't believe that it *looks* like a solid car?!
Any chance we will see you pop up with will in one of these videos love your guys energy together
12:02 'Good thing we've got it on film' - starts filming Edwin
Yes I noticed that too doh 😂
my two favourite car youtubers finely joined together love this keep it up
excelent editing. particularly like the edition of example images of what specific damage you are talking about looks like from other vehicles. i bet that was difficult to find
How nice is Matt? Like, honestly, what a great guy!
I get the feeling this is gonna be a good series 😂 best of luck with her lads 🙌🏻
Great to see you concentrating on the cars and not shitty forced "banter". Great build for the channel and Matt is a gent.
I agree, too much AA could easily ruin this channel.
On the wiring its not all burnt out and will be different colours - The pics showed it in one length - go just the other side of the burnt wires and bridge one at a time matching colour to colour - Easy peasy - Autoelectrician would take a couple of days max. You could even do this yourselves guys, c'mon man up! That 6 grand was only for the loom, you'd have to dig into it anyway? Looking forward to the next vid!
You know it's a real shame my old boss isn't still kicking about, he had over 35 years experience working for Rolls Royce and specialised in wiring, he could make looms from scratch in an afternoon, a real skill and I know would have loved to have helped you rebuild this one. RIP Steve.
I am so happy you both starting the are channel. You are starting it with an absolute banger mate. 100% on board
i was so happy when i saw how good the car is despite the damage. Had a quick look and running 996s pre '98 seem to be in the region of £15k to £30k. that's the range of all models, without specifying ones with the aero kit and LSD.
I can't believe it's just the 2nd video you guys make but this serie has already grown on me
Good job lads
I love Matt’s positivity. He would make an excellent teacher!
Big fan of Matt, we need more of him on the channel
nice job guys seeing you 2 back on youtube is fantastic!
I loved this! First TH-cam video in a while where I've been genuinely excited for the project.
Feels like you've got nothing to lose on the wiring - just get stuck in. Get a beer, replace them all with pink wires, job done. Worst case you have to find a new harness.
let's go! Second vid! And close to 150k already! keep up the grind!
Strip the interior and cage it!! Go hard, boy's!!
Honeslty that’s a good idea, strip it all out put some race seats in it and a custom dash and don’t worry about the interior.
100% agreed. Might also be worth it to do a full standalone ECU while they are at it. No need to fiddle with any of the aircon, heated seats or any other now pointless wires
Yeah I came to say the same thing lol
Carbon interior panels, flocked dash', basic buckets. That's all it needs.
I’d definitely be taking the loom out and repairing it myself. I don’t care how many wires. Better than spending thousands replacing.
Not with crimping tools and connectors though, that would lead to gremlins galore. It wants to have new wires soldered in and sealed with heat shrink
Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Yay!! In the last 3 weeks, you guys have dropped 3 videos!! CT not even 1!! 😂😂😂
I'm so glad you got this car, no other channel have it. I hope you put it back on the track!
I had to replace an entire rear harness (loom) for one of my BMWs a few years back, and I did it the hard way. Cut, strip, wire, solder, heat shrink, di-electric grease, etc. It was a lot of work, but I managed to do it all in less than one day when I was fully concentrated. Def repair it! You'll learn alot, and your soldering skills will improve greatly in 1 day!
Not the hard way, the proper and correct way. Good for you.
I am so excited for new episodes of this Porsche series. What an awesome channel start.
Considering the first main challange you are right: 'at the end of the day, its just wires'.
Porsche and their loom prices are weird. I bought the entire rear wiring harness for 2 928s from the dealer and they were only $150 each. Other harnesses like the short ones that run between the ABS sensors and wear sensors to the main ABS loom are more than that and they are maybe ~1 foot in length. There should definitely be some good used ones at a wreckers or else Kroon Wiring over in the Netherlands can make one for probably less than that. Plus if they have never made a harness before you can send them your old one and they will give 20% off of the new harness.
If you can get hold of a drawing you should be able to get a harness made for quite a lot less than that. Hopefully reuse all the old connectors if they weren't burnt?
Let's goooooo! So pleased for you guys, you're crushing it! ❤
So excited for this series! Subbed as soon as I saw you guys are back :)
My favourite thing about watching these videos from the UK and myself being from a relatively dry climate, is when looking at engines and parts that look shite house and corroded AF by my standards and you guys are like "Yeah these look alright, you've done well"
Brilliant, been waiting impatiently for this. Great video. An good to see Matt again. Its great to have more Brit car content to enjoy, just waiting to see what Ethan and Jack pop up in now...
Nice work fellas :) If I can offer one suggestion; can you put the episode number for the series for this car somewhere in the title?
I just watched Matt on Alex’s channel going down this 993 rabbit hole. Happy to see him again!
Amazing channel growth! Keep it up! Was looking forward to this!
I love the new videos! Great job with the new channel.
lads THANK YOU for this channel, I loved OVERDRIVE and I'm so happy to have more car content
Good update lads loving the channel
Im absolutely loving this series guys ❤😊
Still looks better than Edwin's M3
True tbh - Definitely from Edwin 😉
@@TopDeadC I saw actually Edwin driving his M3 back in the summer while walking the Dog, didn’t even realize it was an M3 at first, then was like is that Edwin? Searched online and confirmed it was him & honestly it looked good.
Edit: I found a picture that I took of my dog while Edwin was driving in front.
Tfw when car that’s been so ruined that it was bought to make interesting content is in better condition than something Edwin considers a car he wants to buy and own privately. He really is afflicted by cars like a curse/disease.
Next weeks episode can’t come quick enough. This is epic!
So hope we see Jack & Ethan on this soon 🤞
Succesful purchase considering you got it cheaper than jus a new loom. Good luck guys, sounds like you are going to need it with the soldering :D
Honestly I think you guys have made a very good decision with making these videos together, i like it.
Nearly every part you’ll need is the same as a Boxster. You’ll get a full interior, wiring and everything else you need for under a grand I’d have thought……in black hopefully. If the loom isn’t the same exactly (I have a feeling it is) you’ll at least be able to cut out the section you need and have all the correct colours for a nice repair on the old loom. I like this project, good luck.
Thanks guys for bringing a big wave of fresh air in the world of cars dedicated channels.
Absolutely loving the editing done throughout, gives the channel a load of character!
SOOO excited to see what projects and direction this channel goes 😃
I see new video, I click new video
Just finished watching the loom is more than I thought it would be, but it doesnt seem a bad car, given enough TLC it will be great. Still shocked edwin hasn't started cleaning yet but im sure that is soon to come. All things concidered it was a bargain, and the LSD makes it even better!
I was looking forward to the upload this week and it did not disapoint! Good luck with the soldering iron lads!
eyyy bout time lads, keen to see where this goes
Great video guys, I look forward to seeing more!
Cannot wait to see this build complete. Good luck with the car and the channel as a whole lads.
Im so pumped for this project. I think you guys hit the nail on the head with your first car for the channel!
I found you guys! so happy to see that you are both continuing to make car media, I've dropped the other channels since you guys left
It's amazing to see your passion for cars has generated a growing channel in a short time keep it up!!!! We will be watching!
You guys and Auto alex are the content I'm looking forward to seeing.
Love the amount of GOOD car content on the internet now
This is going to be my favourite series, I can already see it!
Great videos guys! Matt’s the man!
Good luck on this build!!!, I would try to get a cheap shell and swap parts over.
Good effort! I suspect your best value option will be to buy another 3.4 car with a broken engine, then make a good car out of the two shells! Sell whatover parts are left over. Good luck chaps. They are great cars, I've had a lot of fun with mine.
1:10 if you look closely, you can spot a lot of crimp and seal connectors. I suspect someone tried to repair the loom, messed up and it caused the fire.
After this video, I think this is going to be one of my favourite car channels. I'm exited to watch you guys repairing such a beautiful machine :-)
Nice! Not bad a car after all. First mod if you’re going to track it should be a baffled sump to protect that sweet engine. Really looking forward to see what you do with it.
As an auto electrician and Porsche fan, an early aero 996 would be fantastic, especially with the LSD I would have snapped this up for 5k and enjoyed repairing it. Good luck, chaps! 👍
Supporting comment for you both. Starting off with a great series.
Can’t wait to see you ripping out that interior and start working on the wiring. Overall it’s a superb purchase and I actually love the colour combo, black roof, white paint and black wheels 👌🏻❤️
You two are a good combo. Porsche mech guy is really nice too!
Love to see it. Looking forward to watching y'all do it the hard way 😁
Theres a place in Standish near wigan that has tonnes of Porches stacked high for spares and parts. Douglas valley breakers ltd
Loving the channel guys. Keep up the good work
cant wait for more lads! keep going!
LETSSSS GOOOOOOOOOO - HAPPY FRIDAY
I really like the editing. including pictures of damage and footage of cars is really nice for those of us who aren't experts
This series is going to be so good! Look forward to the next one
This is great, bold first car, but 100% worth it. Looking forward to the next ep
Apart from the loom and interior not to shabby then. Get a used loom, should not be that hard to find and start stripping the interior.
If the replaced suspension is factory M030 or replaced with M030 I would leave it as is since that is very good.
I run my 1998 996 on Koni sport shocks adjustable in hardness with Eibach lowering springs, which is basically M030 with less spent on it and same qualiti. It complements these cars soo much.
Then also give it a good clean once everything is out.
Finally the episode arrived, thanks Edwin + Will !
The editing for this is awesome. Nice job boys. Entertaining throughout
Brilliant video lad's watching from Edinburgh Scotland UK 🇬🇧 👏 👍
Sooooooooo Happy you boys have finally done your ow channel, will be glued to youtube for the next eppisde
Keep em coming!! Best luck and much channel interactions!
cigar fire i reckon... ashed out the window didnt go out the window and the car caught on fire over night. Great looking car and good luck, i love the 996 series.
Cracking video lads. I have seen on other car shows, where they have had to get specialist companies to make new wiring looms from scratch, planned/mapped out and fixed on boards. That might not be "fun" enough though.
Boys, i know you have an upload schedule but we need more uploads! Love the content, keep it up! TDC and AutoAlex uploads are the highlight of my week!
I'm hoping now that this Porsche can be put back on the road. Please put a good plan together & get it going again with no crapping about.
If I still lived in the UK I'd be over to sort the wiring for ya. Probably only around 500mm that needs cutting out and replacing. Boring work is wiring but a few days work is better than 6 grand!!!
Loving this series Edwin and Will can't wait for more vids. Keep up the good work lads
WOW, great video. Most youtubers give all the story away in the thummy. I was genuinely shocked when you revealed JUST the loom was OVER £7k and I enjoyed the video so much more for it. 👍👍👍👍 keep it up
Great to hear a professionals opinion, chap clearly knows his Porsche ❤
Got to say edwin and will really glad u made this channel first cars already a challenge contents banging ❤
You can cut and re work the wires as it’s probably only a short amount of length that’s damaged.
Most expensive parts will be connectors etc
TDC is my new favorite channel. You boys are killing 💪
You could try and repair the wiring loom yourself just replacing the damaged section yourself and do each wire one at a time. Possibly a day or two to do then you’re laughing, you’d have to be good at soldering. If this was my project I’d do that for sure.
With the wiring + all the interior, they should look at wrecked cars to swap everything interior over, or maybe buy a broken engine one and swap the aero and engine and diff over
Let's go already love the series!
