Simon and Martina ive always wanted to go in koshien but i cant go in japan this year. I hope i could go next summer 😭😭 thank you for sharing your experience! I really appreciate it 🙏💕 more power to both of you 😘
I was having a bad day (yay chronic pain conditions) and this video cheered me up so when I read some comments saying similar things, I nearly cried. Something so simple can have a big impact for your viewers. Thanks for doing what you do.
i'm canadian and i visited japan recently! i was eating okonomiyaki at a restaurant and the hiroshima carp were playing on TV. it's so interesting that many japanese (and korean!) people are very passionate baseball fans :) thank you for sharing your experience!
Welp... another state I can't go to because I am allergic to weed... at least when it is illegal people are more likely to smoke in private so I can enjoy going out in public.
The first time I went to a baseball game in Japan it was nothing short of awesome! I went to the Hokkaido Fighters baseball game in Sapporo and it was so much fun! There was an older man and woman sitting next to me and my friends and they taught us all the chants :-) definitely more fun than American baseball if I do say so myself
Omg this is crazy! 2 years ago I traveled to Japan and I also went to a baseball match in the same stadium and we were supporting the Swallows! I had the little umbrella as well! The song is called "Tokyo Ondo" and near the end I was practically screaming it! Looks like we had a similar experience! Go Swallows!!!
I absolutely love baseball games myself because I'm a Chuunichi (Nagoya) fan and doing the fanchants and the atmosphere is really great! I'm glad you guys had fun! Btw, I wish Martina could do a video about her favorite japanese makeup brands! I'm just curious cause she always looks really pretty!
I went to a Swallows vs. Giants game last year in Tokyo Dome, and it was amazing! Completely unlike baseball games in the US! It was just like going to a hockey game at home (Nashville Predators). I particularly loved how there is a chant when a guy is on third, and you are trying to get the batter to hit a run and get that guy home. It was so, so fun, and was certainly a highlight of the trip!
I've been watching ALL of your videos since you moved into my hometown, Tokyo. So far this video is my favorite. Because I can see clearly that y'all are so happy and enjoying the moment. Wishing all the best.
2020 and still a favorite video of mine, I’m not even into sports but the vibe, music, all the people so excited that you guys are there trying to support the team. Ah my heart!❤️
What a heart warming cheering.👏 Japanese are very passionate when it comes to their work, so admiring. 😍😍😍 keep up the good work, your vlog is so informative. 👍❤
Just wanted to say that I am so humbled by the way you guys respond to any negative comments. As a viewer I feel really proud to be a supporter for such examples of positivity. Thank you for bring you!
lol I feel like Japanese baseball is more of an event than it is a sport. It's not the same just watching the game, you have to be there clacking the toy bats together and screaming your head off XD.
That's how I felt about baseball in Korea because in Australia we don't do baseball. They also had a song for every batter and there were dancers and it was so much fun. And everybody wore plastic bags on their head...Fun.
When the team was founded, the owner was JNR(Japan National Railways). It was named the Swallows from Tsubame, the name of a limited express train that ran between Tokyo and Osaka in the 1950s. On the weekends in spring and autumn, watch Tokyo Big6 Baseball league at Jingu Stadium, Waseda-Keio games(So-Kei Sen)are more fun in the last week.
You know skunked beer is a thing? If you expose beer to UV light the hops react and create sulfuric compounds which smell bad. That why beer is normally in brown or green bottles, Corona is sold in clear bottles so it's normally always in a box and has a wedge of lime to kill the smell if it's bad.
I remember seeing mention of either the Swallows or the Robins in several mangas I have read over the years. It's cool to finally see a Japanese baseball game in person, through Simon and Martina. Love your icon. YOLO (You Obviously Love Owls), just like me. Of course, I'm trading out the Philadelphia Phillies and the Bryn Mawr Owls (my college city and school mascots) for the Boston Red Sox and the Simmons Sharks when I start grad school next week.
I love you guys in Japan, I know it's been a while but you guys just seem so much happier and I thought you were happy before. Can't wait to see your next adventure.
Such an amazing vlog! It's amazing to see how the Japanese people openly adopted such an integral part of the American culture. And especially the American culture taking into consideration the history between those two greate nations. Amazing.
I played baseball when i was in 3rd grade. i didn't have too much fun until the end of the season where we got taken out for pizza. i love how enthusiastic everybody was in the stands. sports should always be that entertaining. Go Swallows!
I've got to say, I'm loving the ability to watch your videos and then listen to your podcast for a more in depth look. I take the podcasts to work with me and gives me something to listen to! I could listen to the two of you talk about train stations and cat names for hours. XD
I've seen a couple of Yokohama Bay Stars games and I agree with you that is a fun time. The songs, the cheers and the fireworks make it more exciting than a game in the US.
New fan here! So I haphazardly started watching your videos in random order. Then I relized start from your older videos. I have to say the thing that strikes me most, beside your wonderful banter, is how you both seem SO MUCH SWEETER, AND KINDER TO EACH other you've become. Its a beautiful thang! Lov u guys!
Wow! That's lovely of you to say. Thank you, and welcome to our videos! I hope to see you in the comment section again in the future! We have a new video coming up in less than an hour :D
What I like about NPB games is all the singing to cheer players. When 20.000+ fans sing together, it's really something. All famous players have their own songs and remembering all takes some effort, tho.
My daughter went to a Hanshin Tigers game in Koshien stadium last year (vs their arch rivals the Yomiuri Giants). She said it was an absolutely amazing experience. She's going to another Hanshin Tigers game on September 9th. She's not even really a baseball fan but it still was so enjoyable with the crowd cheers and enthusiasm.
I really love your videos. Thank you for existing and for making amazing videos that help me be positive in life and look for happiness even in the dark days. I want to travel to japan and visit all the amazing places 💛💛💛💛
I will explain the origin of swallows. Before the baseball team was bought by yakult, the team was sponsored Japan national railway(nowadays we called JR and it was operated from Hokkaido to Kyusyu). The national railway operated the train from Tokyo to Osaka before the Shinkansen operated. The train's name was Tsubame(=It means Swallow in Japanese). In Japan national railway, Swallow is the symbol of them. And the name was used for their baseball team. Now,Tsubame is used the name of Shinkansen operated in Kyusyu area.
My mom and I went to a Yakult Swallows game in May! It was the most fun thing we did in Japan. The woman in front of us let us borrow her umbrella when someone scored so we could do the dances with everyone. She helped us figure out the clapping rhythms! And they had Budweiser as an option for beer (my dad works for them so it was exciting to see it available at games in Japan too!) so it was just a perfect evening. Also the food. A+
Ironically enough, I just went and saw a St. Louis Cardinals game yesterday and booooyyyyy do they ever blow up the prices. Can't bring in outside food or drinks and a bottle of water is $5.50. Beer is $9 a bottle, $9.50 for a tall pour, or $12.50 for a tall pour in a souvenir glass 😖 but it's so fun and we always get a good buzz going at nearby bars before we go in 😅
The one time I went to Japan, my brother, who lived in Fukuoka at the time, took me to a softbank hawks game and it was one of the most enjoyable memories I made while I was there. Just seeing this video reminded me of how incredibly delightful and fun that experience was! Japan is awesome!
Simon and Martina I am flying up in 5 weeks to see 4 matches whilst I'm there. One of my friends plays for the Panasonic Wild Knights and another plays for Kobelco Steelers!
As someone whose favourite sport is baseball, that looked like the most wonderful experience! I already love baseball games, I would love to be able to visit and see a game like that ~ Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Didn't know if you guys already knew this, but Japan won the little league world series. I was amazed! they had 2-3 home runs in one inning. Japan is honestly op.
We saw a Swallows v Carps game. It rained the entire time and it was the best thing ever. We tried to see a Carps v Swallows game in Hiroshima but the game was sold out and we ended up in this amazing Carps bar. Ended up as us and another pair of Aussies as the only Swallows fans. Baseball is one of my favourite things we did in Japan.
You guise have NO IDEA how happy this video made me. Like very warm on the inside. I am genuinely SO happy that you are having good times, eating good food and encountering nice and kind people that make your experiences so lovely! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Two things: 1: MARTINA'S SHIRT IS MY EVERYTHING!!! I love sushi anything....YOUR SHIRT MAKES ME SO HAPPY! :D 2: This my favorite video you guys have done in a long long time! I love your charismatic impromptu comedic videos, this one was so natural, spontaneous and along the lines of the fun bubbly comedic videos that I fell in love with a few years ago! Recently the videos are too serious, and too "planned"...THIS ONE MADE ME SO HAPPY!!! Please more videos like this!!!
Ohh I think I remember you maybe mentioning him in one of your podcasts? That is so cool! I was like, I'm not German but that sounds pretty freaking native to me lol. I'll look more into his stuff!
That looks absolutely epic! I went to a baseball game once in Denver, Colorado and we just sat in the stadium for a few hours and bought stupidly overpriced hotdogs without having any idea of what was happening... There weren't even any cheers or applause or groaning, just a stadium full of people talking while the teams played 😅
It's so heartwarming to see you two being included and welcomed!!! You're such lovely people it's so good to see Japan being lovely right back to you~~~
This video made me so happy 😊 Your vids always do! You've helped me get through bad times before, and now you add some extra joy to the good days. Thank you so much!
My dream is to go to a baseball game in Japan. That looks like so much fun. I have goosebumps watching this video. I have to find a way to get there at least once in my life. Thanks for this cool video.
We went to our first baseball game in Japan and had a magical time. We shot a small video so we could show you what it's all about!
Simon and Martina do you know the muffin man?
Simon and Martina ive always wanted to go in koshien but i cant go in japan this year. I hope i could go next summer 😭😭 thank you for sharing your experience! I really appreciate it 🙏💕 more power to both of you 😘
Simon and Martina *Goood morning* y'all :3
was about to go to sleep but you know...an S&M video cant be missed!
Simon and Martina I love seeing the culture through your eyes for all these years! And I'm actually early today :)
The Japanese just everything with so much heart and soul! How wonderful!
海外のユーチューバが日本の野球文化にふれて動画を撮ってアップする小さなことだけど野球やってる自分からしたらとてもうれしいしもっと外国の人に知ってもらって日本の野球がもっと盛り上がってほしい!
5:49 is euphoric! I love how the whole crowd cheers and holds up their beers and umbrellas like there is no tomorrow.
It is such a lovely, happy experience. :)

"don't come to japan just for the food "
but........ the past 7 minutes was just the both of you eating and drinking😂😂😂
Yes, but we're eating and drinking at a baseball game :D
Simon and Martina seems about right 🤷🏻♀️😂
Aromaröökibilbo I'm thinking there's a pretty good reason why weed is ilegal, dude. I'm down with reasonable work hours.
I don't smoke, but it's not illegal here in California and life is great
Welp... another state I can't go to because I am allergic to weed... at least when it is illegal people are more likely to smoke in private so I can enjoy going out in public.

"I can't believe we recorded a home run!" lol Martina was recording her face
LOL 😂
I cant get enough of you guys! ive watched your old vids many times over.
Go Swallows!!!
this is SO WHOLESOME and HEARTWARMING
I absolutely love baseball games myself because I'm a Chuunichi (Nagoya) fan and doing the fanchants and the atmosphere is really great! I'm glad you guys had fun!
Btw, I wish Martina could do a video about her favorite japanese makeup brands! I'm just curious cause she always looks really pretty!
you guys should check out her channel - open the happy; she discusses some girly things there

Omg! I'm not into baseball at all but this looks like so much fun! 😂
Our friend isn't into baseball either, but he had a great time :D
lol I feel like Japanese baseball is more of an event than it is a sport.
Believe it or not, Japanese people do know how to have good fun.

I do indeed! :) But I heard beer being called "skunky" when it was on tap but the lines weren't clean so the beer has a gross smell and taste.
Simon and Martina That's the worst and you can always smell it a mile off.
It is wonderful to see you both happy and healthy! Enjoy!
Wow... it seems lots of fun.... I really want to go to Japan someday.....
I've been waiting for a baseball video in Japan for a long time! Thank you so much Simon and Martina~
I hope you like the video!
Simon and Martina it was sugoii!

Seems super fun and lovely how everyone gets together
I laughed so hard when Simon said, "I just pulled out my umbrella" XD
You're videos are just so beautiful.
I don't understand why but when I'm like super depressed watching your vids make me so happy...
I'm glad our videos can help. We'll be here whenever you need em :D
I hope you're okay

I love you guys in Japan, I know it's been a while but you guys just seem so much happier and I thought you were happy before. Can't wait to see your next adventure.
Ah how nostalgic 4:57 Whiteberry - Natsu Matsuri. It's nice to hear you again~
Guys.
This is why National Japanese baseball team won WBC for a few time.
Great Atmosphere with great fascinating fans.
Such an amazing vlog! It's amazing to see how the Japanese people openly adopted such an integral part of the American culture. And especially the American culture taking into consideration the history between those two greate nations. Amazing.
I love the mlb, but the atmosphere looks so much more fun in Japan

I love their enthusiasm for baseball. it's addicting
I am really not a baseball fan at all, but this looked like so much fun!! I have to go to a Japanese baseball game now!
Watching y'all have fun and enjoy your lives is so enriching

I enjoyed watching this so much!! Thank you guys! 💕💕🤗
Also, NOTIFICATION SQUAD! If you've ever been to a sporting event, how much does the food cost there? Is it cheap or is it expensive?
I've never been to a sports event :S
Simon and Martina it is always very expensive! We can't bring food from outside!! Hello from Ariannah in colorado USA
Simon and Martina you could morgage a house for what I've spent in nachos at American baseball games...😥😫
They're usually overpriced
Scary expensive! Burger, Fries & Drink easily $30! Thankfully they've relaxed a bit on bringing a few sandwiches in but OMG!
Looked so much fun, everyone is so pleasant too
I really love your videos.

This was awesome! Looked like so much fun!
SIMON! Love the new do!! Also, Martina I got Psychology today with your article in it, you're such an inspiration. Love you both!
I love your curiosity for culture and fun! Thank you for sharing and making me smile😉😘
This was such a happy video, I couldn't stop smiling :')
Always make me feel so good, helps so much when I need to feel better, thank you again! 8)
Ironically enough, I just went and saw a St. Louis Cardinals game yesterday and booooyyyyy do they ever blow up the prices. Can't bring in outside food or drinks and a bottle of water is $5.50. Beer is $9 a bottle, $9.50 for a tall pour, or $12.50 for a tall pour in a souvenir glass 😖 but it's so fun and we always get a good buzz going at nearby bars before we go in 😅
Oh wow. Yeah we heard the Blue Jays prices are pretty nuts too. :0
Simon and Martina that's nuts! Tbh I figured it was an American thing. Ya know, because murica 😂
Nah, pretty sure that's a Western thing. Might not be as bad everywhere, but the North America is particularly profit-based.
it s 15$ CND for a beer can in a Montreal hockey game. lol
Kenzie Thomann yeah america is foking shitty when it comes to this
The one time I went to Japan, my brother, who lived in Fukuoka at the time, took me to a softbank hawks game and it was one of the most enjoyable memories I made while I was there. Just seeing this video reminded me of how incredibly delightful and fun that experience was! Japan is awesome!
_love you guys_
You can get good beer and food at US stadiums. Stadiums will specialize in regional foods, like you can get great barbecue at a stadium near me in NC.
日本に興味を持ってくれて本当に嬉しい!😍

You should also go to the Rugby in Japan as well!
I'd love to!
Simon and Martina I am flying up in 5 weeks to see 4 matches whilst I'm there. One of my friends plays for the Panasonic Wild Knights and another plays for Kobelco Steelers!

I heard that baseball are very big in Japan, just like how big Badminton is in Malaysia!
Fuyu Ryuji really Badminton? xD thats so random but actually really nice to know also:D
Can it beat the crowd during SEA games' football tho? tbh I prefer cheering for badminton match 😂
Z-Dog Zeko yes, badminton xD
Nanao S I prefer badminton too haha
I'm always super pleased to see a video that shows more if the culture than a food video can.
