Bring Bryan Caplan back on to discuss the economics of complete capitalisation, privatisation and de-regulation of everything including land and therefore non-private 'borders'.

Where the heck is "Poverty: Who is to Blame" book? That was supposed to be out in 2022. Are we still going to get that?

1:29:55 Funnily enough, I found that ChatGPT, even though it's basically programmed to provide the midwit view on everything ("there are merits on both sides, and we should strive to strike a balance, blablabla...") often tends to provide pretty clear-cut responses when it comes to the benefits of free markets over government intervention.

Really good discussion, good back and forth. You're both very articulate and perceptive

To be honest Bryan is so good in articulating himself that he is not in need of writing books. The only idea i disagree with him is a bit about inequality. I think there should be a UBI of some kind especially if you want to reduce government as much as he wants especially

There is zero difference between left and right. Both love big Government, hate markets, hate each other on camera.

"theres two kinds of accepting it, theres accepting your kid doing it which i dont think anyone doing even today"
Ok so i can say thats pretty clearly false? I can buy the statement "most people arnt happy with their kids being trans" or "its very rare that people truly accept trans people or their kids as trans people"
But the statement that no-one buys or is happy that their kids are trans just seems flagrantly wrong? Ive met several trans people and altough some have parents that disown them, or many have parents that thinks its weird, there are still plenty that are seem very supportive and happy to me and most outside observers
To be honest im very confused by bryans apparent disregard of people genuilly being trans or experiencing gender dysphoria: He seems otherwise very happy to say that Mental illness is really just weird preferences that are outside social norms, so why is believing that some people are happier with expressing themself as another sex then they were born as hard for bryan?
To be clear, im not saying that he is wrong or right about the growth of people identifying as trans is suspect, or whether society has a mania around it or not
Im expressing confussion about his expression of some people not really liking being trans

Left wing people who like markets - Chris Dillow - Stumbling and Mumbling; Paul Krugman; Simon Wren-Lewis - Mainly Macro.

On Musk Saudi Royals comparison . Right wingers are more concerned about Hilary Clinton than the president of Venezuella or China, Mao thingy thingy..... Of course people care more about things in their country/culture. If you actually ask them which is worse of course they say the actual bad guy.
The truth is that reasonable, informed people who disagree with Brian like markets they just don't like them as much as he does and have other reasonable concerns. Maybe right, maybe wrong but with in the bounds of reasonable disagreement.
But no, I, Brian am the One and the Only Man of Objectivty and Truth

I think why we're seeing so much pushback nowadays from the left is because they kind of see the writing on the wall, perhaps subconsciously, that their stuff doesn't work/doesn't resonate with the voters so they go for the next easiest thing: become more radicalized. Like a very desperate caged bird.

I also think that once Woke Gen Zers becomes the main adult demographic in the US, we are fucked, just like Weimar Germany.

To be honest I think that leftists are like let’s change shit and right wingers are like shit used to be better. I am leftist but I love markets so I think it doesn’t apply. Though it annoys the shit out of me that the left hates markets
