Achung Baby/Zoo TV era was the best and most innovative and complex era of U2. One, light my way, the fly, love is blindness, mysterious ways etc. Nothing else ever comes close.
good songd they were but they seem to go over board WITH zoo tv snd popmart but yhrtr esd alot of boring music out there in 80s and 90s RADIO WAS awful
U2 will never be satisfied with themselves. That explains why the keep re-inventing themselves, taking risks. Sometimes they have fallen flat on their faces but most of the time come on top. Their music speaks for it's self. Long live U2!!
Will ssomebody answer this question? No matter. I will. Bono broke his arm at a show in Foxboro. He slipped and fell. You can see him being taken to the hospital on the "Rattle and Hum Outtakes"
They stopped doing it for the money long ago. U2 has gone up and down many times and while they are at the end of their run they aren't done yet. ATYCLB had good stuff like Walk On and Kite. HTDAAB and NLOTH have been good albums as well, not as good as Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby but still okay. It had stuff like Moment Of Surrender, Unknown Caller, Miracle Drug and Original Of The Species.
The 80s certainly was not a decade full of crap music. And i would have said that in any decade. The reason Bono feel sthat way is because music become a bit glossy and less "raw" ..,raw music has a reputation of being in touch with the spirit.. sure, why not. But "produced", "glossy" experimental music (that is the 80s quintessentially) has shown to be more interesting and more nostalgic..form a distance of time. The 90s had some great records releaed, otherwise a decade of crap music, but Bono wouldnt think so, particularly because they themselves became crap music with the odd good song. The 2000s as well as the 2010s is an ear of true authentic pure crap "music" and again..Bono wouldnt think so because now he's trying to recapture the sprit of his punk roots and youth, and it falls flat to his music fans.. not because we dont have a distance of perspective as a result of time passing, but because the music itself is inauthentic and contrived for commercial appeal regardless if U2 sees it that way, or intends it to be that way or not. The moral of this comment is that just because you might be a rock star, it doesnt mean you cant be off your rocker.
@mcdstuff Are you kidding me? Achtung Baby is one of the best albums to come out of the '90s! And that's not just my opinion, it comes in on top in nearly every poll.
They did 2 good albums,,,,,,ill give em credit for that. But,,,,screw em. They have their money- they need to just STOP now. ,,,love "Boy". Awesome album. It meant a lot. ....then reality sinks in haha fk Bono

Back when he could sing
Short sighted remark. There was great music made in the '80. Just not in the mainstream.
