Excellent video. I encountered it while checking out a fatbike/packraft tour in the region. I'm thinking of riding in on the trail south from Keinovuopio/Kummavuopio and moving to packraft somewhere in the beginning of Tavvaätnu. Back on the bike in Övre Soppero. I found a river description from a Swedish site, which I guess is the same that you showed the glimpse of in the beginning.

Great video! Did you start from the beginning of Tavvaätno? Which time point on the video you arrive at Lainio?

Great video and super adventure! ;) may I ask what is the brand and model of the yellow packraft? I noticed it has removable spraydeck and I am looking for such a feature in a packraft. Not easy to find one od those ;) Many thanks in advance

Hiya, it's an old Alpackaraft model called Unrigged Explorer

@@erajokia1083 Many thanks for your answer ;) heading into Alpacka website to look for this rollable cruiser deck options. I intend to use it in sea waters, with some waves splashing foreseen, but also on slow, flat water rivers and lakes. Hence I guess I could use some universal solution like this one, rather than permanenlty fixed deck. Have a great day ahead ;)

A great adventure! We are going to the Lainio River on identical pontoons in the summer of 2019. In what month were you in such low water? Do you have any instructions for us, mayby :) ? We plan a lot of flyfishing and swim in the Lainio until we reach the river Torne. Cheers!

We have a similar plan for the first week of August 2019. Packraft the Lainio from the confluence of Tavvaätno and Rastaätno, until the bridge of Jarkastakka. And there will also be a lot of fly fishing involved.

We were there 2.8.-10.8.2018 for about 120 km in total, and there was a rare long dry+warm period in the weather before that so water levels were really low and that affected the classifications.
There was supposed to be two IV level rapids on the part of the river we came down, but they were closer to class III. The two tough spots (red lightning icons) that's seen on the google map (link below) were the IV's at Liedakka (Upper Liedakka rapids and Lower Liedakka rapids). You can take a right turn at the Lower Liedakka rapids (Liedakkakurkkio) to take the IV-route instead of V-route around the island. You can see this and the Liedakkakurkkio at th-cam.com/video/yBYJrBN8SWM/w-d-xo.htmlm50s (the left route that is V is barely visible and we took the right route).
Here's our resources for the trip :

Kallax Flyg (helicopter) was about 216eur per person (5 persons) after they calculated us+our gear and it turned out we had a lot of overweight. Glamping at it's best..! 😂
Have fun, and keep an eye on the water level!
