  • Not gunna lie, this past week was not filled with the usual awesome harvest rec activities...when the snow and ice came in, it kind of messed up my hunting opportunity and I cancelled a trip to the coast for some fishing due to icy roads.
The big news update for the week is WDFW finally revealed their regulations for the WA Coastal Steelhead season of 2022-2023 and OH MY, was it a massive disappointment!
I joined the virtual town hall and there was significant angler frustration, in particular about the Chehalis River being closed after Dec 16. There was some positives regarding expanded late coho on Grays Harbor rivers with minimal steelhead opportunity and Forks area river regulations got a bit better compared to last year.
We get into the data by focussing on the late coho update, and some rivers got a nice surge of chrome late coho. Minter Creek is off the rails with chum return and a few WA rivers are getting steelhead and have seasons to fish on them right now!
Crab and squid is promising in the central and north puget sound. Bird hunting is good and the weather for getting around this coming week should be much better.
I also share what's new with the PNWBestLife merch situation. I've got hoodie options, tech tee, and soon a 32 oz water bottle and travel coffee tumbler...
