This whole synergy of being able to jam with someone - it heals, I'd imagine. I wish I had a group of people to jam with. Just write funny songs or sad songs or whatever. Even inventing our own chords. Good luck in the future to Palberta!
It's not offensively bad like some people are making out but there's a dozen garage bands in every single town across the world that are on a similar level. More power to them for having fun and catching a break.

This is a genre of music called Noise Rock. It's a style of rock music that is designed to sound distorted, de-tuned, and imperfect. The Velvet Underground is credited with creating the first Noise Rock album in 1968. The Japanese call this Wabi-sabi and it exists in every art form. Sometimes it's nice to listen to something raw or unproduced. Keep doing your thing Palberta...
Contextually, If they had a better mix, I’m sure you could understand what they are doing better. But it’s together, it’s different, I’m into it. Emotionally, they got it going on. Keep it up gals!
Literally my only gripe is the guitar’s a little twangy for me, but I’m pretty biased as a bassist lol….other than that I WILL be checking out the rest of their stuff, they give me SUCH Primus vibes

I don't know whether to be refreshed by the lack of comparison to other bands with a loosely similar vibe (surprised none of the captain's devotees are hanging around the comment section), or sad that they seem to be missing out on a really fun sort of continuation of an under explored way of writing and playing. That said, maybe the fortune teller just gets faces and names mixed up and was actually on about these three instead.
@@RobertSlover "in the key of blue" how....quaint. it's really COOL that you "write all your own music," because no one else does that! you love everything from "bach" to "brian jonestown massacre?" interesting! all dudes. oops! all dudes! could it be that you are a MISOGYNIST? yes, yes. I think so. I can see the headlines now when NPR finally picks up your ALL original music, Robert: "Misogynistic Jazz Bro from Northern California writes ALL HIS OWN MUSIC!!!!!!!1!"
In the first song you could plug lots of distortion over the guitars, and shrieky vocals instead of clean singing - you get a 90's underground primitive black metal project :-D Anyways, love it! :-D
i couldn't say which part i disliked most but i do struggle to find sth i did like. the only reason i watched it *in full* is bc it's on tiny desk and i kept hoping it'd get better. whatever makes this good was completely lost on me.

thankyou so much for taking ur time to write them down
Thank you
I had the pleasure of playing with Pberta a few years ago and they were intimidatingly great. Couldn't be more psyched about their NPR debut!

me too. i can only imagine how much fun it'd be
There is something about this music. Tight, practiced and planned dissonance. I like it.
При этом отстроенный гармоничный вокал. Это сложно.
People: ugh I miss the 90s
Also People: nO NOT like thAT
Finally, a Tiny Desk Concert worth listening to.
It made me remember when we strummed as children
And instead of a hi-hat we used a cage with a parrot

Instantly loved it, thanks NPR for bringing this band into my life

Sound of the Beat is one of my favorite songs of theirs. Their music is so catchy and fun, and so layered as well.
I LOVE THIS. What a cool, unique sound.
Love Palberta, so happy to see them on NPR!
Perfect setting in the basement!

Very interesting and original. Keep up the good work, and keep having fun!

Huaaaaaah!!!!! This is it!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
12:46 - a beautiful piece of jamming near the end
As I wrote in a group some time ago, they sound a little like The Raincoats if they were formed in the 90s. Prettt good
YES!!!

i love it, its got a low budget 90s kind of vibe

Maybe we get it, but just aren't wowed 😬

Just found a new super unique band that I love: Palberta !!!! 💘😍
couldn't tune the instruments?
Off rip I was getting Primus vibes! Very interesting unique sound.
Thanks for the performance, it was what I needed. Play on. I'm digging the last number right now.
So fun. So cool ! 👏👏
I'm so disappointed that this band isn't from Edmonton.
Its great :D its like death metal without distortion
LOL
and slower.
@@abaneyone acctually its completly different, its like life metal

They're in Philly, I'm in KC and am kinda insulted by that......

You should start a garage band category.
If Peewee Herman had a house band. It’s odd and fun.
The first song Eggs & Bacon isn't that the Doug & Carrie song, Doug Hefferman wrote
Very northwest
