Had to really fashion a coat hanger on the end of a broom with speaker cable from Tandy running out the roof of my parents house in beckenham in to my bedroom, just to pick up Kool FM. Had the record running on the Piece of shit stereo tape player I had. 12 years old on the roof, just to hear this new music, and it was! Changed my life!
You know that 100%. Their impact and influence on youth culture and music culture was immense. We have tons of respect for this lot!! Respect for the comment!! We have a Brockie & Det playlist and 100s of Kool FM sets. Keep it locked!!
The crazy thing we know that Brockie would cut exclusive Dub Plates that would never be released. He used to spend hours at Music House, in Holloway Rd, cutting ten plus Dub Plates at a time. The likelihood is a big percentage of his tracks played might not even be released and are exclusive to him, or may only be exclusive to a handful of DJs.
@@mitchellgiffard1978 Yeah they moved from the old studio in Holloway Rd in the early 2000s to an industrial estate near Tottenham Hale. Big up Leon and Paul!!!
That's usually how it went, producers would come down to cut a dub and if Brockie wants it,you ain't gonna say no! I would have paid for the cut for him coz you kno it will blow!
You probably dont care but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my gf these days :)

I am not finding excuses but trying to understand why. The first track was a Lennie De Ice unreleased dub plate exclusive. Dub plates can be harder to mix especially if the tracks no mixed down. Also the radio set up could have been dodgy like many stations were. I guess at this stage Brockie was mastering his class. MC Det also hadn't reached his level of greatness yet. That was what pirate radio was about getting practice and earning your stripes.
@@TakeMeBackPirateRadio absolutely m8 as a DJ who played in many clubs and raves and one or two pirate stations I've done my fair share of clangs/knocking needles and stopping the wrong decks ;) D&B can be real hard to mix and the quality of dub plates varied widely in the old days. Then there is the being off your tits factor LOL. Yeah the mixing was quite raw throughout and like you say early doors but it was still good to hear !

Hi guys. I am trying to id a track from around 92. The only info i have on it its a possible white label. Early hardcore crossover track. Possibly network records or network recordings. At the start of the tune it says "the name of this story is rumplestiltskin" any ideas people???
I'll ask around to see if anyone is familiar with the track or anyone using that as a sample. I can't promise anything but I am glad you reached out to us to see if we can help you.

Lazerdrome down at the Rye was amazing! Did my first snowball in there , literally thought my head was going to explode 😁😁🤪
This is classic! Just raw pirate radio. I read that Brockie, Hype and a young Andy C used to go record shopping together in 1993/4.
This was religion to the youth of London 1992-96!! Massive part of the London jungle scene! Brockie and Det absolute dons!

Interesting to hear Dett’s more limited vocabulary in 1993; much more of a Hardcore MC style. By the end of ‘94 he was a beast on the mic!

Sounds young! Didn’t have the low end deep vocal just yet, still a good hardcore hype man. But yeah, the best was soon to come! Best MC for me x
