Something you didn't mentioned in the rapier section is that you can shoot your side pistol while blocking and this does NOT breaks your guard. So you can go for those sweet crit headshots when shit hits the fan and you really need to block. And if this wasn't awesome enough, if you have parry, that shot puts you on parry mode after the shot WITHOUT having to lower your guard or use stamina to push. If you have insane aim (I don't xD) you can pair that with riposte to clear patrols while dodging.
One hour watching this is one hour less getting kills for the community event, damn you PartyKnife! However along with Sienna's this is the one i've been looking forward to most. Thank you for your hard work!

I'm afraid I haven't done the WHC yet because more people had requested Zealot even though WHC is my favorite salty man but I will get one made eventually. But when I'm running the billhook I mostly run this talent build 2-3-1-2-2-2 and a few important things are stamina on neck and stamina regen on trinket. You will be pushing alot! :) thanks for watchingn and asking my friend!
Honestly it varies quite a bit for but this is my closest approximation. On the WHC if im being serious about a run I always run flense. This is simply because you are much more likely to be in a life/death struggle when fighting a mixed enemy pool and this help you clear out the hige density trash on cata. Deathnell is by no means a bad talent but it's slightly overrated in my opinion for 2 reasons. 1. It's not hitting very many significant breakpoints 2. It's entirely irrelevant whenever you crit. But I do run it from time to time just because it's fun andwhen I am running it I always combo it with smiter. But generally speaking I would go mainstay since the billhook's pull puts the target on 2 counts of stagger instantly, except for bosses of course . And mainstay let's you deal the most damage with the overhead after you pull them Thanks for watching and asking friend!

For the most part yes! :) The primary difference is that the billhook no longer has infinite dodges and it also costs 1 stamina (half a shield) to use the weapon special assuming you actually hit an enemy minion! :)
8/12 cause you didn't go over Greatsword movement tech. Heavy attacks move same distance as a dodge and then dodging after that to kite hordes at the speed of infinite dodge. -Also didn't cover the cool BH Bop and Billhook combo that lets you bop, hook and heavy every elite, including wargors, but not CW. Combo ends with a melee kill so... chain elite combo kills.- -Cool alternative of just double bop elites with melee kill passive resets to help your team that are not right next to you and elites out of range.- -Can delete elites faster then Slayer with a hammer and BoP shot plus Hook both stagger the elites for the safest wombo combo out side of shade using ult.- [redacted]

Hello! I am pretty new to the game. I am currently using a Bounty Hunter with a Rapier. In the video, it was mentioned that a push-block should be added in, but it had the exact same effect as the light attacks. Is there a specific time to use push-block instead of just continuously slashing then?
Yes. Just to be clear since this mechanic confused me when I started out playing. A push-block attack is done by holding down right mouse button (block) and then simultaneously holding down left mouse button so that your push and attack becomes one move which is different from the first light attack. With that caviat out of the way. You are generally gonna be using push block attacks when you are surrounded by trash minions or whenever you fear that spamming light attacks won't be suffecient to prevent you from getting hit. This often occurs when you are fighting very high minion denisities. Hope that makes sense and thank you very much for watching friend! :)
With the flail, I'm struggling to make use of the attack sequences, too many buttons to press, like that light attack sequences you say light, light, push, cancel is so awkward. Also how do you do Heavy 2? I do heavy 1 and heavy 2 looks exactly the same, so o have no idea if it is heavy 2, is it hold, hold? Seems weird, I thought it would swing left then right but it's just doing left, left

Isn't it obvious? Why would we possibly want to do that?!?! When we can... Dual Wield Halbards !!! I mean sure, you would be dead in no time with 0 effective dodges and -10% distance but DAYM you would look badass for thosse first 11 seconds! Worth :D
Wait, I think I got it..... Why use just 2 halberds or maybe billhook + spear? Instead I think..... WE QUAD WIELD! Just think about it, Kerillian spear in 1 hand, halberd in the other, billhook attached to 1 foot and kruber spear attached to the other! The ultimate weapon! Oh and obviously you would have no effective dodges and a 75% movementspeed penalty, but c'mon it's totally worth!
Out of saltzpyres 7 melee weapons it had the 4rth highest score which is smack in the middle. It was very close though between A+F and the flail but not evenn close to 1st and 2nd so best case scenario it's in 3rd place. Lets call it Mid+ tier. People vastly over estimate the strenght of A+F (not saying it's bad by any means) because it's very easy to use which can be hard for people to differentiate from the actual overall viability of the weapon. Yeah ! Thanks for the guide ! I have a question about the rapier : does firing the pistol breaks my blocking state for a short period, or am I still able to block incoming attacks ? I love using the rapier on bounty hunter thanks to Blessed shots which can guarantee a swift slaying trigger with that pistol.
Very good question! And yes there is a short window during the draw/re-tract animation where you aren't blocking. You can in fact decrease that window with a qq cancell as soon as the pistol has fired it's shot to skip the re-traction animation. But I have to admit were getting into very high effort for low reward optimizations on that one hehe :D Anyways thank you so much for watchinng and asking!

@@the2inchspecial829 there is a very small window where you arennn't blocking :) but it's probably not something thatsa gonna be an issue you reach the point where berserkers can 1 shot you if they headshot haha xD
They nerfed Axe and Falchion?? It was Victor's first good weapon and they nerfed it, yet the elf has a javelin that kills just about everything on body shots, has cleave, can use as a melee weapon and has infinite ammo??
1st Billy, 3rd Flail and 4th A&F? AXE AND FALCON FORTH??? Okay, let me explain instead of just leaving the question like that. I otp Zealot instead of WHC, but I don't see how this makes sense any way I think of it. For my opinion on them: I looked at the numbers and did some small tests myself and from a damage perspective only, there's not much to argue. Against Armor A&F just has the most damage. These heavys hit hard and are fast, giving A&F unmached dps. Billy comes second with the easiest headshots I've ever seen (not like they're hard on A&F). Flail damage obviously isn't as high, as it's not what is the weapons strong point. Against trash enemies, A&F still shines with the combo you already explained in the video. That extra crit% on the push attack helps with keeping SS up all the time and the good cleave makes dealing with the horde a breeze. The combo is also almost long enough to keep the stamina consumption at a low rate, even with bonus attack speed from SS and Zealot ult (with the 30% stamina recovery you can keep the combo up indefinitely on WHC I think, as it's the case for Zealot when not using the ult). That makes it better then Billy, who can definitly not keep the weapons highest cleave combo up as long. The quicker combo means, you have to change it up every few seconds. The change up option is still really good for cleave, though the one stab in the middle doesn't stagger the horde, making you just a bit more vulnerable. Cleave wise, flail is the king. You can keep pretty much everything staggered all the time, as long as it's not a CW or boss (or that one beastmen unit). That can stall some of the most difficult situations, giving your team a lot more time to deal with the patrol they just pulled, but has less damage overall. So I can see it up there in the list, though at no 3? I mean, "stalling enemies until your team can deal with it" is a viable option for a tank, but why play Salzpyre when you want to be a tank? Lastly as it didn't fit anywhere else, Billy and flail both have one more thing going for them. For flail, it's the ability to shit on shields. With any character and any build, shielded stormvermin are always a pain in the ass. They mix into the horde, stopping otherwise high cleaving weapong and don't die since they fall back into the horde when you can finally stagger them enough to drop their shields. Most of the time I have to clear the whole horde before I can take them out and even them 5 or more of them still won't go down easily. The flail does not care about shielded bullshit and kills everything equally righteous. Billy, while not equally strong as flail, has at least an easier time against them. When the horde is thin, two pulls and the shield is gone, a few heavies and the job is done. So you at least don't have to wait out the entire horde, but you can't just mindlessly "flail" at them and you will get punished when you're not carefull, as you have to concentrate on a single enemy for that time. Overall the pull is great in A LOT of situations that I surely don't have to explain to you. That said, in my opinion A&F still reigns supreme. Bonus crit% for SS, good horde clear, two hitting SV, 5-6 hits for a CW (on Zealot), good dps for bosses, ... No weapon is as viable in EVERY situation as the Axe & Falcon, making it my obvious number 1. As for Billy and flail, it comes to your own preference, though Billy does have the upper hand. I'll try out the combos for flail though, as I never really gave it a chance. (Even with the double heavy bug, it sadly still only felt good instead of op as it probably should have felt.) I really wanted it to work at some point, but always felt the lack of damage. Also as a bonus since this comment surely isn't long enough, already: For WHC I actually prefer rapier. I ignore every single attack that isn't the first two light attacks and go for headshots only. With the maximum crit chance and attack speed you run, this actually makes it a decent weapon against SV and the likes. The stab vs everything you can't kill with your passive isn't bad, either! The 50% bonus headshot damage makes them really hurt.
Well first things first. Have you seen my weapon tier video? Cause the thing is. My tier (whilst not perfect by any means) is not based on my own personal opinion and/or preferences. It's based on math, which is the entire point. I agree that the A+F is better than the flail and I also agree that to a certain extend prefference matters. But prefferece can only get you so far and the end of the day this is just 1's and 0's and there is a right and wrong answer to which weapon is statistically speaking performing the best overall when used to perfection in relation to all the possible circustances, even if that is an answer we will never know. And your are entirely skipping the defensive metrics of the weapon/weapons. If you are fighting solo vs a stormvermin patrol on cata with the A+F you havev no options. Damage output isn't everything. I like can relate to most of your post with one major exception. But please watch this first cause I don't mean this in a bad way. th-cam.com/video/tBK33hStUKY/w-d-xo.html The Billhook is (in my opinion) objectively better than the A+F and not just by a bit... but to such an extend that you would have to find a serious flaw in either my reasoning or mathetmatical approach to change my mind on the placement of these two weapons specificly. Not just that but I have never ever seen anyone doing very high level weaves who werent using either billhook or the rapier and for very good reasons. I'm not trying to convince you to stop loving the A+F or even that this difference matters that much when playing leged/cata QP. But if you were to give thosse 2 weapons to a selflearning A.I and let it play as you increased the game difficulty. Id be willing to bet the gab between how hard it could handle with either weapon would be very significant and not in the A+F's favor. Even if we for a moment assume you are 100% correct in terms of the weapons damage versus enemies assessment and it can hypothetically clear everyhing faster if we assume you get to spam a non attacking enemy. It just doesn't possess the same capabilites and utility functions and would struggle in so many scenarios where the billhook would persevere. As a man of science I'm alwayss willing to change my mind in light of better evidence, and you are always welcome to disagree with me! A+F when shit really hits the fan. Anyways I appreciate the love and thought put into your comment and thank you for watching regardless! ;)
@@ThePartyKnife I am hereby letting you know that there is at least one 1k+ Saltz main that places A&F over Billhook. :P I've watched your other video and as much as I belive that the tier list you got is indeed at least 90% objectively right (which is already damn impressive), I can't see in detail why Billhook is better after watching it. After all, you mostly focus on the tier list overall and the work it was to get to it, not how certain weapons scored over other ones. Some points are very understandable for anyone who watched the video like "15% dodge distance = 2 points" or whatever, others aren't as clear like "Cutting through platemail feels like slicing bread with a lightsaber. Doubles as a toaster! = 5 points". What does this translate to in numbers? What numbers do specific weapons have? I'm sure you got a ton of excel tables with pure data, but as they weren't shown in the video, I can't tell! :( I will definitly show the tier list itself to friends who recently started to play the game to know which weapons are generally better and which are generally worse, but for my case I would have to have a look at the cold hard numbers itself. After all, any tier list like the one you made are more or less based on personal opinion, made easier to work with and present. Why did you chose to value armor dmg from 0 to 5 and not from -1 to 4? Why does it have to be 0 and 5 when maby 0,395 and 4,748 are closer to reality? Obviously the "perfectly objective" tier list isn't possible and even though you are probably really close to it, there is always a certain margin of error from ones perception. Hence why there is no problem that we disagree on the "best" weapon. Anyway, I am sure to use more Billhook to try to make up better arguments aswell as counter arguments for either side. After all, I might have well over 100.000 kills on my main A&F, but just a measly 10.000 on Billhook (thanks weapon kill counter mod). By the way, could you also explain to me how Brace of Pistols got so high? I love the weapon, but it always feels like a sorry excuse to me when compared to Crossbow. I exclusively build (and almost exclusively use) ranged weapons for specials. According to my self made ranged weapon breakpoint calculator (you're not the only one wasting hours of your lifetime for some statistics that probably noone is ever gonna see xD) crossbow can, up until cataclysm (1), oneshot-bodyshot almost any special in the game and oneshot-headshot anything except the packmaster/twoshot-bodyshot anything else on cataclysm 3 (with a little help of the zealot passive of course). So using BoP feels like wasting ammo, needing two or even three shots for basically everything. Am I overlooking something really big here that makes BoP viable?

It's probably what suprises the most people but it''s true. It''s a good but not great weapon. The reason if feels so amazing is because it''s very easy to use. So you make very few mistakes. The ''great'' weapons might be much worse if you dont know what your doing but when used correctly they are better if that makes sense. :) But it's still a rly good weapon so dont stop using it if you like it!
ThePartyKnife you are probably right but still the fact this weapon is easy to use let you also more time to think about all the surroundings. I’m way far to have your actual mastery but the fact the weapon is easy to use helped me to achieve cataclysm missions. Hello! I am pretty new to the game. I am currently using a Bounty Hunter with a Rapier. In the video, it was mentioned that a push-block should be added in, but it had the exact same effect as the light attacks. Is there a specific time to use push-block instead of just continuously slashing then?
Yes. Just to be clear since this mechanic confused me when I started out playing. A push-block attack is done by holding down right mouse button (block) and then simultaneously holding down left mouse button so that your push and attack becomes one move which is different from the first light attack. With that caviat out of the way. You are generally gonna be using push block attacks when you are surrounded by trash minions or whenever you fear that spamming light attacks won't be suffecient to prevent you from getting hit. This often occurs when you are fighting very high minion denisities. Hope that makes sense and thank you very much for watching friend! :)

With the flail, I'm struggling to make use of the attack sequences, too many buttons to press, like that light attack sequences you say light, light, push, cancel is so awkward. Also how do you do Heavy 2? I do heavy 1 and heavy 2 looks exactly the same, so o have no idea if it is heavy 2, is it hold, hold? Seems weird, I thought it would swing left then right but it's just doing left, left

But wait, A&F is mid-tier? Pretty sure it's high tier, isn't it? Especially on Zealot.
Out of saltzpyres 7 melee weapons it had the 4rth highest score which is smack in the middle. It was very close though between A+F and the flail but not evenn close to 1st and 2nd so best case scenario it's in 3rd place. Lets call it Mid+ tier. People vastly over estimate the strenght of A+F (not saying it's bad by any means) because it's very easy to use which can be hard for people to differentiate from the actual overall viability of the weapon. I have a question about the rapier : does firing the pistol breaks my blocking state for a short period, or am I still able to block incoming attacks ? I love using the rapier on bounty hunter thanks to Blessed shots which can guarantee a swift slaying trigger with that pistol.
Very good question! And yes there is a short window during the draw/re-tract animation where you aren't blocking. You can in fact decrease that window with a qq cancell as soon as the pistol has fired it's shot to skip the re-traction animation. But I have to admit were getting into very high effort for low reward optimizations on that one hehe :D

@@the2inchspecial829 there is a very small window where you arennn't blocking :) but it's probably not something thatsa gonna be an issue you reach the point where berserkers can 1 shot you if they headshot haha xD
What the hell is a push block attack, is it holding down the attack button or just pressing it once while blocking?
You need to hold down block, then proceed to also hold down left click without release right click. Hope that helps! :)

They nerfed Axe and Falchion?? It was Victor's first good weapon and they nerfed it, yet the elf has a javelin that kills just about everything on body shots, has cleave, can use as a melee weapon and has infinite ammo??

Okay, let me explain instead of just leaving the question like that. I otp Zealot instead of WHC, but I don't see how this makes sense any way I think of it.
For my opinion on them:
I looked at the numbers and did some small tests myself and from a damage perspective only, there's not much to argue. Against Armor A&F just has the most damage. These heavys hit hard and are fast, giving A&F unmached dps.
Billy comes second with the easiest headshots I've ever seen (not like they're hard on A&F).
Flail damage obviously isn't as high, as it's not what is the weapons strong point.
Against trash enemies, A&F still shines with the combo you already explained in the video. That extra crit% on the push attack helps with keeping SS up all the time and the good cleave makes dealing with the horde a breeze. The combo is also almost long enough to keep the stamina consumption at a low rate, even with bonus attack speed from SS and Zealot ult (with the 30% stamina recovery you can keep the combo up indefinitely on WHC I think, as it's the case for Zealot when not using the ult). That makes it better then
Billy, who can definitly not keep the weapons highest cleave combo up as long. The quicker combo means, you have to change it up every few seconds. The change up option is still really good for cleave, though the one stab in the middle doesn't stagger the horde, making you just a bit more vulnerable.
Cleave wise, flail is the king. You can keep pretty much everything staggered all the time, as long as it's not a CW or boss (or that one beastmen unit). That can stall some of the most difficult situations, giving your team a lot more time to deal with the patrol they just pulled, but has less damage overall. So I can see it up there in the list, though at no 3? I mean, "stalling enemies until your team can deal with it" is a viable option for a tank, but why play Salzpyre when you want to be a tank?
Lastly as it didn't fit anywhere else, Billy and flail both have one more thing going for them.
For flail, it's the ability to shit on shields. With any character and any build, shielded stormvermin are always a pain in the ass. They mix into the horde, stopping otherwise high cleaving weapong and don't die since they fall back into the horde when you can finally stagger them enough to drop their shields. Most of the time I have to clear the whole horde before I can take them out and even them 5 or more of them still won't go down easily. The flail does not care about shielded bullshit and kills everything equally righteous.
Billy, while not equally strong as flail, has at least an easier time against them. When the horde is thin, two pulls and the shield is gone, a few heavies and the job is done. So you at least don't have to wait out the entire horde, but you can't just mindlessly "flail" at them and you will get punished when you're not carefull, as you have to concentrate on a single enemy for that time.
Overall the pull is great in A LOT of situations that I surely don't have to explain to you.
That said, in my opinion A&F still reigns supreme. Bonus crit% for SS, good horde clear, two hitting SV, 5-6 hits for a CW (on Zealot), good dps for bosses, ...
No weapon is as viable in EVERY situation as the Axe & Falcon, making it my obvious number 1.
As for Billy and flail, it comes to your own preference, though Billy does have the upper hand. I'll try out the combos for flail though, as I never really gave it a chance. (Even with the double heavy bug, it sadly still only felt good instead of op as it probably should have felt.) I really wanted it to work at some point, but always felt the lack of damage.
Also as a bonus since this comment surely isn't long enough, already: For WHC I actually prefer rapier. I ignore every single attack that isn't the first two light attacks and go for headshots only. With the maximum crit chance and attack speed you run, this actually makes it a decent weapon against SV and the likes. The stab vs everything you can't kill with your passive isn't bad, either! The 50% bonus headshot damage makes them really hurt.
Well first things first. Have you seen my weapon tier video? Cause the thing is. My tier (whilst not perfect by any means) is not based on my own personal opinion and/or preferences. It's based on math, which is the entire point. I agree that the A+F is better than the flail and I also agree that to a certain extend prefference matters. But prefferece can only get you so far and the end of the day this is just 1's and 0's and there is a right and wrong answer to which weapon is statistically speaking performing the best overall when used to perfection in relation to all the possible circustances, even if that is an answer we will never know. And your are entirely skipping the defensive metrics of the weapon/weapons. If you are fighting solo vs a stormvermin patrol on cata with the A+F you havev no options. Damage output isn't everything. I like can relate to most of your post with one major exception. But please watch this first cause I don't mean this in a bad way.

The Billhook is (in my opinion) objectively better than the A+F and not just by a bit... but to such an extend that you would have to find a serious flaw in either my reasoning or mathetmatical approach to change my mind on the placement of these two weapons specificly. Not just that but I have never ever seen anyone doing very high level weaves who werent using either billhook or the rapier and for very good reasons. I'm not trying to convince you to stop loving the A+F or even that this difference matters that much when playing leged/cata QP. But if you were to give thosse 2 weapons to a selflearning A.I and let it play as you increased the game difficulty. Id be willing to bet the gab between how hard it could handle with either weapon would be very significant and not in the A+F's favor. Even if we for a moment assume you are 100% correct in terms of the weapons damage versus enemies assessment and it can hypothetically clear everyhing faster if we assume you get to spam a non attacking enemy. It just doesn't possess the same capabilites and utility functions and would struggle in so many scenarios where the billhook would persevere.
As a man of science I'm alwayss willing to change my mind in light of better evidence, and you are always welcome to disagree with me! A+F when shit really hits the fan.

I've watched your other video and as much as I belive that the tier list you got is indeed at least 90% objectively right (which is already damn impressive), I can't see in detail why Billhook is better after watching it. After all, you mostly focus on the tier list overall and the work it was to get to it, not how certain weapons scored over other ones. Some points are very understandable for anyone who watched the video like "15% dodge distance = 2 points" or whatever, others aren't as clear like "Cutting through platemail feels like slicing bread with a lightsaber. Doubles as a toaster! = 5 points". What does this translate to in numbers? What numbers do specific weapons have? I'm sure you got a ton of excel tables with pure data, but as they weren't shown in the video, I can't tell! :(
I will definitly show the tier list itself to friends who recently started to play the game to know which weapons are generally better and which are generally worse, but for my case I would have to have a look at the cold hard numbers itself.
After all, any tier list like the one you made are more or less based on personal opinion, made easier to work with and present. Why did you chose to value armor dmg from 0 to 5 and not from -1 to 4? Why does it have to be 0 and 5 when maby 0,395 and 4,748 are closer to reality? Obviously the "perfectly objective" tier list isn't possible and even though you are probably really close to it, there is always a certain margin of error from ones perception. Hence why there is no problem that we disagree on the "best" weapon.
Anyway, I am sure to use more Billhook to try to make up better arguments aswell as counter arguments for either side. After all, I might have well over 100.000 kills on my main A&F, but just a measly 10.000 on Billhook (thanks weapon kill counter mod).
By the way, could you also explain to me how Brace of Pistols got so high? I love the weapon, but it always feels like a sorry excuse to me when compared to Crossbow. I exclusively build (and almost exclusively use) ranged weapons for specials. According to my self made ranged weapon breakpoint calculator (you're not the only one wasting hours of your lifetime for some statistics that probably noone is ever gonna see xD) crossbow can, up until cataclysm (1), oneshot-bodyshot almost any special in the game and oneshot-headshot anything except the packmaster/twoshot-bodyshot anything else on cataclysm 3 (with a little help of the zealot passive of course). So using BoP feels like wasting ammo, needing two or even three shots for basically everything. Am I overlooking something really big here that makes BoP viable?

It's probably what suprises the most people but it''s true. It''s a good but not great weapon. The reason if feels so amazing is because it''s very easy to use. So you make very few mistakes. The ''great'' weapons might be much worse if you dont know what your doing but when used correctly they are better if that makes sense. :) But it's still a rly good weapon so dont stop using it if you like it!
ThePartyKnife you are probably right but still the fact this weapon is easy to use let you also more time to think about all the surroundings. I’m way far to have your actual mastery but the fact the weapon is easy to use helped me to achieve cataclysm missions.
