It's been a very tough year in the Antiverse, i.e. our Ant Room. My longtime yellow crazy ant colony has finally expired, with the final queen passing away just last week, however I do have some good news to share. #RIP #OG #GoldenEmpire

since the “golden empire” has been a fusion of multiple colonies over time, I think they should be called the “Golden Dynasty”. Their colonies have spanned generations and time, and if more fusions should happen in the future, they will be included under the “Golden Dynasty” title.

But the golden empire workers were first held captive by the new empire before being granted access into the new empire so I’m not sure yet how I feel about it. I feel a new name and a fresh start would be best.

The Golden Empire has had a long, rough journey. They have been my favorite colony since I joined the AC family years ago. Their passing hits me in a soft spot. I am glad the final members will be able to live out their final days among a new family.
Historically a horde was when several tribes were brought together under common rule and integrated. Seeing as this is essentially what happened to the remnants of the original Golden Empire, perhaps Golden Horde?

New name suggestion: The Golden Legacy
Side note: Although the votes for keeping the old name are leading by a wide margin, the AC Senate should have final say, and here's my case for a new name:
Unless their a scientific ability and probability that the old colony can pass their DNA onto the new colony, the new colonies will be 100% free of the old colony within a matter of weeks when the last member of the Golden Empire dies. Unless:
A) You managed to save at least one OG queen that made the merger.
B) DNA from the OG workers can imprint on the new colony in some other way, I.e. interacting with the queens or elates, or prophylaxis? This may require some deeper research.
But that's it. If their DNA is not passed on to the new colony, keeping the old name makes no sense.
I really hope more people see this, especially Mikey as I agree with you fully!

No. The ac senate should not have final say. Just because they paid money to support the channel and have a right to exclusive perks and early access doesn’t mean that they should be able to make absolute decisions against the majority, period.
Edit: and the name does make sense because almost by definition an empire especially a long lasting one has multiple dynasties and eras. Just look at Rome or Han China for example.

So when this first dropped I fled the channel for a few months. The Golden Empire was my favorite colony. Turns out my dread was overblown. I'm sad to see that our queens (especially the queen with the little hat) have passed, but its good to see them carry on.

How abour "Golden Retrievers"
Maybe the crickets could be called, “The Golden Mimics,” because they mimic the smell of the ants, and if the name did change, maybe it could be called the, “Golden Renaissance,” because its the, “rebirth,” of the Golden Empire, because he had fused another colony to revive the former Golden Empire.

They are probably dying out because they have been around for so long and no ant colony can live forever. Something is bound to happen eventually. It's the way nature works. The old colonies die to make way for new colonies and the cycle repeats endlessly as it should.
