  • Two orchestras, two choirs, and on top of that, an additional choir singing the hymn "O Lamm Gottes, unschuldig". The introduction for what is one of Bach's most compelling sacred work could not be more ambitious, more complicated, yet so approachable by everyone.
The video is a collection of movies from the Apollo missions, found here: archive.org

I had some pretty bad news delivered to me today. The first thing I did after walking for 2 hours in circles and shedding some tears, was to play Bach on my piano. Now I'm going to bed, but before that I listened to a few of your videos, as I have been doing once every week or so for a few months now. I had not commented on any of them yet, but today I had to. It also felt right to comment under this one in particular, given the special place this piece holds in my heart. Thank you so much for the work you have put into this channel OrzoMondo. Bach will always be there when we need him.

Thank you so much for your support and for your message. I am sorry you are living a difficult moment, I understand the pain that some events are bringing to our life and I know there's little I can say to make it less painful for you, but nevertheless I'll try: I found that you just need to focus on doing one step at a time, and before you know it you're half way through the bad times and already seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
I think your choice of listening to Bach is the perfect one. I always say that Bach's music is never sad. It can be joyful, or tragic, but never sad. The immense force of his belief in the power of an ever healing God just does not let sadness to prevail. You might cry listening to "Ich ruf zu dir, Jesu Christ", but if you don't feel consoled by it, you must have misunderstood the message.

I was going through recent recordings of "Kommt ihr Tochter", as one does on a Friday night, and I can't believe this wasn't on my list earlier! Stunning, absolutely stunning and with headphones the range and depth of sound is 😘😍. Modern twists on Bach are so delicious. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much!! I've started to do this only two years ago and this was one of the first pieces I tackled. Listening to it now I feel like it's a bit immature. Probably I would do it differently now. If you check out my other videos, especially the recent ones (I did the sinfonia from the other passion not long ago) I wonder if you'd like them better or worse. I.e.: am I going in the right direction? :)

Honestly can’t describe in words how amazing this piece of music is. Notice when you listen to music songs always have similarities to other songs eg similar chords ect. There isn’t a single other piece of music out there that sounds similar to the Mathew passion. It is a one of a kind, impossible to replicate piece of music. Almost something divine about it…

Signore, I just realized that I liked this post a long time ago but never left a comment. I like that this (and so many of your realizations) capture the gravitas both in musical character as well as in the realistic nature of the ensemble. It has that substance one gets from live acoustic performances. I fin that lacking in so many other electronic realizations of Bach. I miei complimenti!

Thank you so much - to be honest I feel like in the meantime I changed so much my approach and my process, even my tools, that it feels like this piece was made by another person :)

Thank you so much! In these early videos I did not really know what visuals would work with the music, so I experimented a lot. I'm glad you liked this one!

This is awesome... I hope very much you'll do the other arias of this passion as well, especially those like 'so ist mein Jesus nun gefangen', 'Komm süßer kreuz', and of course 'Erbarme dich'.

Yes! For the moment I only did this, then "Erkenne mich", and "Gebt mir meinem Jesum wieder", but I plan to do many more.
