I'm not surprised by these findings. When I cruise, I totally relax and even my back pain eases a lot. It's the best medicine. A transatlantic crossing would be amazing.
Fully agree! Transatlantic with QM2 is the only way to cross. Seven days with first class service, no phone.....some special Cunard cocktails always help bring happiness too of course ! 😊
I believe it! I always unplug from the grid and LOVE the time off from technology, work and stress from life in general. Taking a nap every day and walking laps around the boat deck everyday! oh the joy! LOVE IT!
We had our first crossing on QM2 this October, it was wonderful. I was disapointed with our speaker choice but not all of us could be lucky to have you aboard! As someone that treats holiday's as invasion plans to see and do as much as possible, the QM2 and it's schedule for the first time in my life allowed me to actually relax. I was able to focus on my journal writing and enjoy taking it easy. My partner enjoyed much of the ship as well, we both relaxed and enjoyed the beauty of being at sea, having everything arranged where we picked what we would do if anything for the day. We plan on booking again for our next holiday.
I've done 3 transatlantic crossings on the QE2 and one sailing to the Panama Canal on the QM2. I enjoyed the crossings but there are times when the seas can be a little rough
I have not been on a sea voyage but I can well imagine that this is all true. Even a walk by the beach is very refreshing for me. Thank you for the video!
Far less input from multitudes of noises/information and no need to constantly be on the lookout for dangers, i.e. in traffic, public spaces etc. but having the time and opportunity to relax gives the brain the possibility to focus so much better. I could unwind and relax so well on my Transatlantic voyage. Unbelievable.
Is a Transatlantic Crossing good for you? Certainly not! As soon as you arrive in Brooklyn, you want to book another one. I did one just over a month ago, I didn't do half the things I planned to do
Hi Chris, I just finished your new book. Awesome! I'll be on the Queen Anne on January 18th to February 4th and the Queen Mary 2 for the around the world voyage in January of 2026. Is there any chance that you will be on other of those. It would be an honor to meet you if only to say hi and thank you in person. 😁
You’re so kind James! I’ll be on board Queen Anne after you. In 2026 I’ve asked for the Panama leg 🤣 tho I imagine all the other speaker are also asking for it too!! I’m so glad you enjoyed the book!
Hi Chris. Whenever I've cruised it does feel once you're at sea the hustle of departure skips away and then last day seems far away. I myself take a deep breath look over the ocean and actually relax. I've yet to take a TA but I'm sure this is true. Hopefully I get to hear a lecture of yours onboard G36 QM2

One has to ask how biased this could be on several levels. The study benefits both the Cunard and potentially any involved in the cruise industry. How were the participants selected? Were they first time or regular cruisers? How much, if anything did they pay for the crossing? Did they receive any special treatment compared to regular passengers? When was the study completed? Was is a westbound or eastbound crossing?what time of year was it? What was the weather like etc?
Hey Mike. These are great questions. I have a few of the answers from Cunard - The neuroscience study was conducted by Walnut Unlimited. 40 guests travelling on the Queen Mary 2 from Southampton to New York (westbound) on the 18th October 2024 took part in the study. Two tests were performed on either the day before or first day aboard and another 5-6 days later towards the end of the sailing. The study used a combination of self-report and biometric measures to monitor psycho-physiological reactions using a neurofeedback device to measure and record the natural electrical activity of the brain and a Galvanic Skin Response Recorder (also known as GSR) to measures and record the natural electrical resistance of the skin.
Thanks!
Oh wow! Thank you so much for the generous support.

Great video Chris, and I think that study shows that we should only do transatlantic crossings from here on in. I’m in anyone else?
Crossing the Atlantic on The Queen Mary 2 is very good for you . The sea air , healthy food , respectful friendly people around you . Just awesome.
They are long with no mobile signal - a true benefit these days
You’ve just justified my 6 QM2 crossings this year!
Hahah love it

Looks like I need to book a trip. 😊
The title was all I needed. Be right back - need to book a cruise!
🤣🤣🤣

Glad you enjoyed it!
I always enjoyed the many days at sea aboard the Union Castle liners between Las Palmas and Cape Town. The ocean itself seems to be invigorating!
Union Castle! My grandparents were regulars aboard!
A dream come true for me as I was supposed to be on the tandem QE2 QM2 crossing but I lost my job.

I think two of my dinner companions may have taken part in this survey? BTW, one of the Insight Lecturers on my voyage was Stephen Payne OBE
Always knew it.

She needs a sister ship, one that would become the world's fastest passenger ship.
