I do hope I have pull myself out of this burnout for good this time, it is not fun to deal with. But otherwise here is a video on a video game, enjoy! or dont- Im a youtuber not the police, I cant tell you what to do.

@@jgsource552 There are more than enough incentives in GW, so I'm not sure what you mean. The difference is in one game you chase a piece of gear- simple and basic, In the other it's just a lot less linear and skill based, rather than number based.

Little correction, Not all fractals are recicled parts of the story, some of them are events that took place at some point in the Lore of the game, like Urban battlegrounds that tells the story of the Searing of Ascalon.

The biggest thing about GW2 that I've liked is that I've taken literal years off the game, come back, and it doesn't feel like I'm behind or that everything I was doing is suddenly irrelevant. They to a GREAT job at making the majority of their older content still accessible and viable to go out and do unlike a lot of MMOs I've played. I think a huge portion of that is because you're not always running on the gear treadmill to try and keep up with everything - you can just grab some exotics and experience the majority of content as is. That's a hard formula to nail down. I never realized it until I was playing another MMO to show them something cool from an older expansion only to realize how fruitless and forgotten it was. GW2 keeps it fresh and you can really see how they've grown through the years going through the stories and content.

I'm a super casual gamer and that's why I eventually just dropped WoW. Every time I came back it was like a completely different game where I was starting from scratch again. Nothing I had done the last time I played mattered int he least.

I'm about 1month in and still playing through the story. I've played them in order, almost finished LW S4. I like to complete each map once I've entered it to satisfy my ocd. The game seems very active and it's not often you'll be left fighting a quest boss alone, someone usually joins in. I've not tried any of the instanced fractals etc yet.
I really like the horizontal progression now I have other commitments, family, dogs etc... Nice knowing I can leave the game for a few weeks, months or even years and my gear is still relevant.
Highly recommend anyone try it out.

16:31 This part should be heavily emphasized for anyone coming over from other MMOs or other time intensive 'main games'. GW2 does not try to monopolize your time and attention like most other MMOs do. Very little of the game's content is FOMO-style, and almost nothing is removed or made irrelevant intentionally. You absolutely can leave for weeks or months at a time without feeling like you're being penalized when you come back.

    About Matchmaking in sPvP:
I honestly advise everyone to get into Ranked matches. In the beginning, only unranked is available (to keep the bots away), where you'll get stomped. I've been playing pvp for years now, and I still get stomped in unranked (either total noobs or pvp-gods are playing there, who are expecting all of my moves, and cannot even touch them, they kill me in 0.5 seconds, and still have no idea how to counter rhem, I learn nothing... or I kill the total noobs in 0.5 second, and I also learn nothing).
But in ranked, you'll get paired with players on your skill level, it's more fun, and I learn a lot more. Furthermore, I found it to be less toxic, interestingly.

Good summary of GW2, glad you are enjoying the game. I've been playing since a couple months after launch, and haven't taken a break yet, but even after all of my time in the game, there's still plenty of things for me to do, that I haven't experienced yet, or goals I haven't completed. Just yesterday I found a new corner of a core map that I had never seen before. If any of your viewers reading this like exploration, then they should definitely give GW2 a try, as exploration is one of its strongest points. I also love the horizontal progression and the utility of Legendary gear, being able to swap stats any time you are out of combat, being able to transmute the appearance for free as many times as you like, and with the rest of GW2's build system and combat, being able to swap from a DPS, to a Support, to a Tank, or to a Healer almost instantly, makes playing a joy and allows me to do almost anything I want on each character. As you said, GW2 is very alt character friendly, and I currently have 26 toons on my main account. Looking forward to seeing more of your GW2 YT content, so I've subbed to your channel.

Hey hey - loved the video and glad to see GW2 getting some praise! I've been playing over 10 years now and STILL have not run out of things to do since every time I log in I have so many choices. PvE, Living Story, achievement hunting, searching for all the little jokes/easter eggs, or just roaming around maps looking the beautiful environment design, crafting, etc. So many choices to fit practically any mood. The community (entirely agreeing outside of 5 player sPvP) is really great and super helpful, too.
That said, like your journey with sPvP, I went into WvW as NOT a PvP-loving player, but ended up returning to it until I grew to love it because it's such a dynamic game mode. I did eventually join a really nice, non-meta, WvW-based guild I run with a few evenings a week, but you don't need a guild. All you need is to ask in map or team chat if there are any tags running open squad and you can join a temporary group. Some are more experienced than others, so mileage will vary, but enough of those and you may have an experience that you might enjoy. I also found that being in Discord is a game-mode changer, even just to listen.
Anyway, I'm really glad that you enjoy the game, and again, good to see the game getting some praise!

My work is seasonal and when it's on it's 60 to 70 hrs a week for half the year, but when it's down it's 0 and I spend my time in GW2. If I were to play another MMO, I'd worry about how far behind I was and when back into it if I could find people to play with me to help get myself BiS.

At heart it's a completionist/collector game with A TON of content and fun public events you can join on the fly. Guild Wars 2 has 9 Core Professions all which have 3 Elite Specializations each which have unique twist for the Core Profession which means the game has 27 different class options.
I recommend looking up Meta Battle's leveling guide 👍 What it does is lower your time to kill which will make the game flow better.
One thing the Meta Battle probably does not take in to accounting is the resent buffs to core weapons 😅 for Engineer player's go Rifle and you will have fun. Rifle was buffed a lot. For a short moment it was the best Low intensity build
Sad truth about boons (buffs) is that you want Quickness and Alacrity. They make the game feel better. Alacrity lowers the cooldowns which allow you to click stronger abilities more often and Quickness makes you cast everything faster making using set abilities flow better 😁 after you start doing end game group content like Raids you will notice the difference ... best way to feel is to play condi berserker (warrior) 👍 you use long bow which is slow to use but once you give yourself quickness it feels so much nicer to use.

That's my biggest flaw with GW2, the class system and weapons dictating your skills. I want to be a 2H Guardian, but my firebrand build dictates for optimal performance I MUST use a torch and axe. Which really sucks. And there still is a holy trinity of sorts, but instead of it being hard locked to tank/support/dps it's like a triangular selector with each of those class types at each of the corners. You can spec more towards DPS or more towards support or being tanky. Biggest pro imo is the fact that no matter what your progress never becomes outdated. There's no constant rushing to keep up, once you have end-game gear, you have it forever and it'll never become out of date.

It's alright, with wow you feel like you're always working for something. With gw2 it just goes by so fast no real world story other then the 8 main quest every 10 levels but some of that is just stuff you picked making your toon. No real feeling that you worked hard for something, dungeons are dead a long with most the stuff no one does anymore. It's not a bad game tho something to pick up and put down without feeling like you're missing out on raiding and gearing like wow. But gw2 just feels empty to me, pushes you along to 80 in like a day then that's it. If you want to raid some still raid but it's just go back and do more of the same.

Dungeons are long abandoned, yeah, but there’s also fractals and strikes besides raids. I’ll agree with another comment - GW2 is for completionist and collecters. For me personally there’s no incentive to play CM fractals, but I do so bc I get shiny gold for my future legendaries and I can get achievements and titles for CMs. Moreover I can cycle through activities - today I play WvW just because I find it enjoyable, but then I grow tired of it and go raid with newbies in my guild, after that I can rest from raiding and do achievement hunting. There’s enough activities to keep me occupied when I want to take a break from one of them.

I second both KJ's and Balázs Kozák motions! While you wait for one of the game's frequent 50% off sales, the base game is free to play so you can get some characters to max-level and see if you enjoy the game's hybrid action combat/build customization before spending any money. If the game is for you, then like Balázs so eloquently said, you will begin to find other mmo's floaty in movement, unweighted in animation, tasteless in tactical positioning, and boring in build diversity compared to gw2's action combat. I wish I could enjoy other MMOs more, I've never been into WoW but follow both the Final Fantasy and Elder scrolls franchises but their MMOs' combat just can't satisfy me after GW2.

I'd go so far as to recommend GW1 - the girlfriend and I played the entirety of it last year, in preparation for starting GW2, and it was a blast. The AI henchmen/heroes mean that you can play the entire thing, expansions and all, either solo or in a very small group, and it works flawlessly.
As for GW2... it seems to be more active than ever. If you head over to any of the "meta events" where big world bosses spawn on a regular basis, you'll find a spontaneous raid-load of people fighting it, even on a weekday when... ahem... we should have all been doing something productive instead.
Big tip for new players though: Follow the story on your first playthrough. Don't aim for zone completion. If you aim for zone completion, you'll find the story content way too easy, and your exploration will have meant that you see things kinda out of sequence.
Also, try to avoid using the mounts in the core campaign first time - they're great mounts, but they mean that you interact with the world in a very, very different way, and lose some of the sense of adventure (because you can bounce over all the enemies and ignore them).

Don't be afraid of WvW you can go into the map and look for a commander tag and join the group just like in meta trains. You Do Not need a guild to go in. you can roam solo small group or zerg. all depends on how you like to pvp. Just go in and again like all other game modes go have fun.

GW2 is my personal favorite mmo... never really managed to get into WoW, just not my thing, and ESO is... nice but i really dislike ZoS' monetisation alot. Plus even GW1 still has a somewhat doable playerbase, and ArenaNet said they'll keep it online for as long as GW2 is online, as GW1 barely costs them anything, and only two dudes are maintaining that gem.
One thing i generally really love about GW in general, that no other game really has for some reason is the Mesmer class. it's just kinda unique to Guild Wars.

It's always fun to see a newcomer impression, hope you enjoyed the game, btw the problem it's always the same, they see the things in a wrong way :) so if a veteran say that this game is worth getting into it's ok but if a newcomer start playing and after few months he say it's (or it's not) worth getting into, well ... simply it's not reliable because most of the time he only has a very small partial vision of a game and often he doesn't even really understand how it works, which takes time, a lot of time.
Many things in this video are quite wrong, but it's ok because you are a new player, I don't expect more, but I can say that as in PvP (structured) you understood the basics by just going beyond the first impression and at some point something clicked, the same is with WvW or fractals or raids etc. You must go beyond, even veterans that play a specific game mode do not really understand the other game modes of GW2 until they REALLY spend some time going beyond their first impression.

The sad part about WvW, is that all the content is behind "joining guilds". It is going to be hard if you solo roam, but joining a guild, and trying to improve within the dmg/cleanses/strips of that guild and maybe do some GvG just puts a whole new spin to PvP. It is basically like you said about PvP, once you get what is going on, from the "bombs". after you bait out their dmg or before, to the boon giving to heals/strips/movement etc. It is an insanely fun game mode. But as a new player, it must seem like a hot mess, with no strats and completely chaotic. Sometimes is, but most times people understand that either strips, dmg or cleanse/heal/stab is missing

Compliments for acknowledging that the story of any game is only interesting once. Any MMO is about the repeat content and in that regard GW2 is second to none. If you have all expansions and Living World seasons there are currently over 30 LVL 80 maps to do, which means that when you get tired of one thing you an simply do another.

  • @CelticScale
    @CelticScale ปีที่แล้ว

For free to play players, your only allowed 2 character slots, which means you can only create 2 characters. If your interested in the mounts, you MUST buy the expansion. The graphics are very outdated. In my opinion GW2 is not as good as a lot of TH-camrs make it out to be, they duck and weave around the real questions. If your not willing to put money in, your not gonna have a good time.

i hit cap 4 years ago on 6 characters and there hasnt been any meaningful progression in the game since then. everything new just awards the same type of gear. if you want ascended gear which is barely an improvement over exotic gear, you have to grind achievements and fractals. Gw2 has a metric shit tonne of grinding. event rewards are pathetic at best to the point where nothing feels meaningful.
