I stumbled on the tv series The Rising of the Phoenixes and was in awe with the costume and set designs and amazing cinematography. Got hooked with storyline and was able to watch the whole series in 4 days. Nini who plays the leading actress is one of the most beautiful woman in my opinion. I then googled the actors and followed them. I am currently watching 'Lost in 1949'. I must say I'm also impressed with the works of all actors. Bravo!
Chen Kun is primarily the reason why I'm watching C-dramas, lol. He's too beautiful, both on the inside and out. :D I first heard about him from the live action Mulan movie and Painted Skin, so now I'm trying to watch as many subtitled interviews and other media featuring him as possible.
I didn’t mind him too much until Rise of the Phoenixes. Man… you are correct, once you watch him you never forget him. His acting is one of the top that I’ve seen.
hi! This was really fun to watch and to learn about Chen Kun. I giggled when you said you haven't watched the complete Rise of the Phoenixes series... I am on my 7th time watching it!!! I absolutely love it! It is absolutely one of my favourite shows of all time
I’m amazed how this man can sell a handsome young, charismatic business-heir AS well as a beautiful eunuch! He really hasn’t aged a day, and keeps getting more stunning. 😍
The Rise of Phoenixes could have been a masterpiece having him and Ni Ni. It's a pity it suffered from hasty editing and rewrites probably due to external forces.
I'm on episode 19 of Rise of Phoenixes and after Nirvana in Fire and Story of Yanxi Palace I really needed this to continue my political intrigue. Hes such an amazing actor...I swear he goes from sexy and charismatic, to weak and soft to creepy badass
"He's an artist that once you're aware of his existence, you never quite forget about him." That is so true! I literally just discovered him this year (because I just started watching Chinese shows very recently), and I think he is very inspiring both as an actor and a person. And I absolutely love the deep and sincere friendship they have with Zhou Xun. And they have such a great chemistry on screen.
Chen Kun is amazing actor, so charismatic that man is. I admire him so much. His acting skill blown me away. I think he is one of the Best Actor in China, in the world even.
I watched him in The Rise of the Phoenixes and he's incredible. Of course its gorgeous and I wish it was stronger with more of the novel in it too but I get that there's censorship and just weird writing choices. I actually loved Chen Kun and Ni Ni's acting and chemistry. Legit mesmerized by them. I'm excited to go through his other works and I love that you gave a nice background to his life/work. Thank you!
Oh! Chen Kun is my favorite and very first ever celebrity crush! I’m 49 Native American (feathered “Indian”)and have never cared about any celebrities at all until I watched The Rise of the Phoenixes last year after only watching two previous cdramas. I’ve never watched them before. After watching TROP, I’ve became obsessed by learning all about him. The more I learned, the more I was blown away by how hard he works and the things he’s involved in. I watched as many interviews as I could find. I started learning mandarin because of him. I practice brush writing even. I doubt I’d ever get to see him in person, I know if I did, I would not even know what to say. I think he is probably the most beautiful man I’ve seen. Even more interesting I find that he becomes more beautiful as he ages. I’ve watched everything I could find by him and am dying to see The Yin Yang Master. His Power to Go movement is so powerful. I’m actually proud to be his fan. I read somewhere he plays the cello, I play the cello, I wish I could see/hear him play. I wish I could be a part of his Power to Go. The terrain reminds me of the areas I’m from. My tribe is from an area near Crater Lake. Ha ha I’m typing all of this as you are speaking. I’m just excited that you made this video because I admire him so much. I follow him on IG and there are times he posts images that just stops my breath. You’re right his beauty is far from being just about his actual face. It’s his bearing. His son is quite an artist. Smart that he keeps his son’s life personal. I’m part of a Facebook fan group for TROP, lol we are crazy in there. Lol maybe his name is attracting the female 🤣 thank you for covering him. 🙏🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕
Thank you for this deeper look into Chen Kun. I just finished watching him for the first time in The Rise of the Phoenixes and boy oh boy did he mesmerize me! I literally would hold my breath while watching him at times, he was that captivating. It is really good to know what a solid human being he is all around, totally NOT just another pretty face(though my GOD is he pretty and handsome too!) I can't wait to watch more of his talented self going forward. He inspires me to be sure I'm also moving toward living my fullest life because that's what I see him doing so beautifully! So thanks for the inspiring video and thank you Chen Kun for being an amazing embodiment of creativity and self expression.
So happy to have found your video on Chen Kun! I just discovered him while watching Rise of Phoenixes. Having watched many CDramas, I can attest that he is the most charismatic and seeious actor I've encountered. Just one look or even just the way he stands commands attention. Also he's breathtakingly handsome. Afterwards even more impressed with his charitable works and the way he has lived his life. Can't wait to go back and watch his catalogue of films and series.
Chen Kun is absolutely gorgeous and extremely entertaining. I was impressed with the clip of him singing an Indian song! Really great voice. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about him. 🤗
Fun fact: Chen Kun’s name “Kun 坤” is the same Chinese character as Cai Xukun’s 坤. It seems like something about this feminine name just makes its male owners absolutely EXPLODE in popularity, and having a kind of inexplicable charisma that is unforgettable and just attracts everyone’s attention.
Actually "Kun 坤” is a very powerful hexagram in Yi Jing, which represents the absolute Yin, the empress or the Earth, and is very firm and stable. People usually don't use "Qian 乾“ (The absolute Yang or the Sky)in their names, because only figures like emperors can take on the power of the Sky. But they will use "Kun 坤" if they are still somewhat ambitious. Of course, Yi Jing actually means "Book of Changes", the philosophy behind it is that "Things will develop in the opposite direction when they become extreme". Qian and Kun is a couple in Yi Jing.
I am so impressed by Chen Kun. He is living sculpture, the way he moves. I DID watch the whole Rise of the Phoenixes TWICE. Not just because he and NiNi are so wonderful, but the costumes and sets.. Very much influencing MY work as a visual artist. Right now, I'm watching Wind Blows From Longxi. VERY mature piece all the way. Thanks for this video!
OMG I never knew he sang Hindi songs ! I've always found him to be such a seasoned actor and yes he does look slightly Indian haha. Also his pronunciation and rhythm is really really good !
Chen Kun is one of my favorite actors in Mainland China. I watched him first with Zhou Xun in the movie The Chinese Little Seamstress and his acting blew me away. ❤
Thank you so much for this video and it is absolutely informative for a fan like me! I knew him from watching The Rise of Phoenixes and it's really long but a good one and last time I bought a book titled Balzac and the little Chinese seamstress and I can't believe Chen kun acted in the film version. I really love the book and also his acting in the film. He is such a talented and a great actor!
Thank you for this video. I cannot believe that I am cyber stalking THE Chinese Actor. I mean I have been brought up watching mostly American, European, Indian dramas. Then, The Rise of Phoenixes happened in my life and now, am completely hooked on C-Dramas. AND ON CHEN KUN. I am obssessed by his acting skills. Have rewatched the Rise of Phoenixes, Lost in 1949, Flying Swords of Dragon Gate for the umpteenth time. Am so in love with his acting skills and his TV persona. Can't wait for his upcoming the Wind blows from Luoxing.
Thank you for this video. Now that I found him, I can never forget him for sure. Going through so many videos to overcome the withdrawal symptoms (Just finished Rise of the phoenixes). He is such a charming person in real life. Wish to see him in modern dramas too.
I love Chen Kun!! I first watched him in Rise of Phoenixes and was blown away by him/his character. What an intelligent, charismatic, and beautiful person (inside and out). Thanks for this video - I learned a few new things about him. :)
It's also hilarious when you watch any "Chinese Best Actress Winners Best Acting Scenes" compilation videos on bilibili and its these powerhouse actresses going full on, and everything single different scene Chen Kun is in it. He's the constant in the storm
Became his fan after first seeing him on the Hua Mulan movie with Zhao Wei then on Painted Skin: Resurrection with Zhao Wei (again) and Zhou Xun (I’m torn).
Holy moly! I just recently saw The Yin Yang Master and it was an exceptional movie for me. And today I just clicked by curiosity on your video only to find out Chen's producing company produced this movie and it impresses me greatly to know that.
Imagine if Chen Kun played Hongli in Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace?! With Dong Jie as the former empress and then Zhou Xun! Man, it would've carried the production to newer heights! Not saying Wallace Huo ain't a good actor. But, imagine!
Chen Kun is THE BEST CHINA ACTOR👍🏿my fav idol😍 espexially on THE YIN AND YANG MASTER both film n actors were amazing👍🏿👍🏿i watch again n again that movie just to see my handsome Chen Kun OMG i am.starring at his face more n more 😁😍

His every expression is so on point and really draws me in. I will definitely check out all his other famous works you mentioned (I hope I can find one with subs!). Thank you and I love this video!
One of my fav actors in the whole world ,I watched different kind of movies and drama in different languages, I watched Chinese Korean Thai Japanese American Indian etc ,but he is one of my ultimate favorites, purely because of his amazing acting and expression, clear seen in the rise of the Phoenix, I know the drama was badly written but I cried for him so many times
Thanks a lot for Chen kun’s video. He is the most handsome Chinese actor I have seen till now. his acting career is soooo good. He sang Hindi songs I am very proud of him being a Indian. Like to see him in more costume dramas. I have his photos saved in my Album. Love him and dream of him always. Wishing him all the best for future.
I watched 金粉世家 The Story of a Noble Family when I was very young. But to this day, I still remember Chen Kun being extremely, extremely handsome and dashing in that drama. Just the PERFECT portrayal of a naive and spoiled rich boy. I can’t think of anyone who has topped his performance (of this type of character) in this following decade of Chinese dramaland. Contrary to many young girls at that time, I actually never liked that character of his even before the plot took a turn and...I won’t spoil the ending for anyone...if you know, you know... (I read the original novel and he was even worse in there. The scriptwriter already lightened up this 渣男 character a lot.) I have always been kinda allergic to cute rich boys😂 but still, I completely 1000% understand why that poor girl in the story would fall for him and marry into his (very problematic) family. He was just so charismatic in that drama. Like a prince walking straight out of a Disney princess fairytale.
TROP was my very first Cdrama(first Asian Drama) and became obsessed with CK!! I binged TROP in less than 7 days!! It was so good! I had recommended it to friends and family and they all LOVED it! After TROP, i watched a bunch of CK’s movies, dramas, what ever i could find! I was a little too obsessed!! Lol
I first saw him in Rise of the Phoenixes and I’m hooked! He was so good. I’m learning Chinese and I watch a lot of his interviews. He has a great voice and he doesn’t talk fast. He takes the time to think before he speaks. He was so good as Ning Yi and I’m mad he and Ni Ni didn’t get together in the drama. I can’t wait for The Weary Poet!
Thank you for making a video about Chen Kun!! I fell in love with him after watching TROP. And later realized that I had seen one of films in a film festival many many years ago, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress. He is an amazing actor and an even more amazing person, with all the charity work he's been doing. His extremely good looks is the cherry on top! 🥰
I have discovered him a long time ago in the Chinese -french film Balzac and the little Chinese seamstress... he was young and amazing, after he was stunning in Bends of Flora Lau and the knot , Painted skin an 49 and so on, great versatility....Bravo🌜🎵👏🎶🔥
Wow, this is my first time watching your video and I loved it! I absolutely loved it!! I am a fairly new fan after I watch #RiseofthePhoenix on #Netflix in 2019. I feel that he is one of the most unique and wonderful actors I've ever seen. and when I discovered that he could sing so beautifully it was just amazing. I love the way you narrate Chen Kun's history, career, charity, close collaboration, and other important facets of his life. I hope you and him can collaborate on future visits to the US or Europe. You did such an admirable job in explaining this wonderful actor and singer and philanthropist and author!!! Thank you so much for sharing and posting. I hope you have a wonderful New Year and please feel free to post more Chen Kun videos. ❤️🙏👏🎬🎥💕☯️
Thank you so much for this video about Chen Kun. Got to know him from TROP on Netflix and was obsessed with him for quite a while! I understand you can't mention everything but i really like Chongqing Hotpot and I later realised Qin Hao was in that movie as well. And did you know he won a scholarship to study graphic design in Germany? See, I was't kidding when I said I was obsessed. So may talented ppl from Chongqing like Xiao Zhan and you as well.
The Rise of Phoenix was the first C-dramas I watched in more than a decade. Chen Kun looked very familiar & I realized he was Romeo in the Pink Ladies, comedy drama I watched in 2002. Now I know he is a superactor. Congratulations for your achievement! The acting in the Rise of Phoenix was amazing, I really enjoy the drama despite of the number of episodes.
By hearing that clip, I can say he has a good voice and sang nicely.....but his pronunciations were not good enough to understand his every words 😅 By the way, he was singing in HINDI language (in case you don't understand)
Hey ! I'm from Pakistan and I must say 'yeaah his pronunciation is not good enough but honestly i was surprised by the fact that he can sing in hindi/Urdu' 😂
About half an hour or so ago, I finished watching Lost in 1949 starring Chen Kun playing twin brothers. It is part tragedy and part comedy. I watched Chen Kun in absolute awe, if you haven't seen it as yet, please do, it has so much to tell you about life! I am now a Chen Kun fangirl@@ I should also mention that I first saw him in the film The Knot. You must watch that too!!!
I immediately clicked on upon notification ! Was waiting for this one from your point of view ! Thank you so much ! He & Zhou Xun are kind of a mythic couple in my opinion... And I think he's a great actor because whoever he pairs with it's always a good match. No need to say I'm a huge fan !
Yes I was waiting for this Chen Kun is one of my favourite 😍😘🙌 Thank you for letting me know the meaning of his Name makes me so happy 🥰 I wish to meet him once in my life time
I agree, I was late knowing Chen Kun in Rise of the Phoenix. I cannot forget him, he was very strong character and charming and very gorgeous. He’s just very appealing and mysterious as well. I hope to see him more in dramas or movies
I would be happy if I knew I could have possibly been in close proximity with my favorite celebrity as well. Cause I know that's the closest distance I'd ever get with them. But Chen Kun is also like Zhou Xun, where they elude this sophisticated aura that no one can seem to touch. It's no wonder they are such close friends that are working together. Thanks again for all this information on him and recertifying why I enjoy his presence on screen!
Whay is he so gorgeus, so wanderful ??? I love... I adore CHEN KUN. I didn't know him before 2019, when I watched the drama "The Rise of the Phoenixes". After then, he is my favorite actor (and singer) anywhere, anytile
...Anytime, any way, anywhere, He's my favorite actor EVER (...and singer...) CHEN KUN is really a great, great actor, and hi didn't have yet all the roles he deservs.
In my opinion it was one of the best role in his career, I appreciated because Ning yi was very complex character. He could make me feel sad, happy, sympathy, angry, silly, and etc.
True, It's hard to act a role like that , but he was so fine and professional. Ning Yi is one of my favorite characters of all time.

The scriptwriter already lightened up this 渣男 character a lot.)
I have always been kinda allergic to cute rich boys😂 but still, I completely 1000% understand why that poor girl in the story would fall for him and marry into his (very problematic) family.
He was just so charismatic in that drama. Like a prince walking straight out of a Disney princess fairytale.
Lady X! I am currently binging on the Rise of the Phoenixes and I have the greatest crush on him! OMG what an actor! What a beautiful man!
I love Chen Kun he’s one of my favorite actors.
Once I discovered Chen Kun, I have been completely sold on him.
There is no question that he's the most handsome, he's literally ruined everyone else for me XD
I just finished rise of the Phoenix, n this come to my recommendation
I came to know him after watching Rise of Pheonixes and now I am waiting for his production of Yin Yang Master. I also love his work in Painted Skin
I love Chen Kun he is soo handsome!
I loved him as Ning Yi😊
I have discovered him a long time ago in the Chinese -french film Balzac and the little Chinese seamstress... he was young and amazing, after he was stunning in Bends of Flora Lau and the knot , Painted skin an 49 and so on, great versatility....Bravo🌜🎵👏🎶🔥
He is a very good and effective actor. Love him so much in Flying Swords of Dragon Gate.
Oh my god!!! Just an hour ago I have been thinking why you haven't made a video about Chen Kun!!!! And now it's here..... 😍
Es magnánimo en lo que hace Chen Kun es un talentoso actor!!!
I would like to know who is Chen Kun’s girlfriend in this 2021. He is amazing.
@@normaibanez5542 : Whoever she is, that person is very lucky! ☺️❤️
Una vez que conoces un actor como Chen Kun no te olvidas más. Muy cierto el comentario 😊❤
I'm also a new fan but I don't speak mandarin. Where did you learn more about him ? I didn't find many videos in english or with subtitles.
@@Akyoa If you key in Chen Kun on TH-cam, some past articles about him may popped up. His instagram account is informative too.
陈坤,王凯,胡歌 are my top 3 favourites! I would watch anything they are in!
By hearing that clip, I can say he has a good voice and sang nicely.....but his pronunciations were not good enough to understand his every words 😅
By the way, he was singing in HINDI language (in case you don't understand)
Hey ! I'm from Pakistan and I must say 'yeaah his pronunciation is not good enough but honestly i was surprised by the fact that he can sing in hindi/Urdu' 😂
Hey, fellow indian guy watching this, hi!
@@rabiakanwal7365 same!!!!!!!
@@rabiakanwal7365 now i hav got more reasons to bingewatch his shows.
Gosh! He sings in hindi soooo well!
I didn't know that!!
About half an hour or so ago, I finished watching Lost in 1949 starring Chen Kun playing twin brothers. It is part tragedy and part comedy. I watched Chen Kun in absolute awe, if you haven't seen it as yet, please do, it has so much to tell you about life! I am now a Chen Kun fangirl@@
I should also mention that I first saw him in the film The Knot.
Me watching this from India, Chongqing being my fav place in china! *Mehboob mere* is what he sang!

Mom I love him 💕❤💗🤧💓😭💕
my fav... love him in rise of phoenix
After then, he is my favorite actor (and singer) anywhere, anytile
...Anytime, any way, anywhere,
He's my favorite actor EVER (...and singer...) CHEN KUN is really a great, great actor, and hi didn't have yet all the roles he deservs.
Chen Kun have a new film 「The Yin Yang master 《侍神令》」Begin on Netflix 19/3/2021.
I'm new to Chinese dramas. Been watching for about two years now so I love your videos. They're so informative and fun. Great job. Love Chen Kun. ❤
Love him in Love story of a noble family. He looked gorgeous in that drama!❤️❤️
I knew him from painted skin. But I admire him because the rise of Phoenixes. I couldn’t imagine if Ning yi played by another actor
I actually thought I was looking at Ye Hua when I watched the first episode of Rise of the Phoenix :) Oh that long hair, man ! 😅🤣😂
His Hindi pronunciation is actually better and understandable.. I really love this actor
He's so hot! Amazing talent and human...
