You’re omitting Kuanglu, who came to his life almost at the same time as Jin Mi, but from very beginning she shoved him love, support, devotion, she shared all his art and magic as well as his life style. What did Run Yu? He choose to compete with his half brother just to continue his personal agenda of vengeance. Kuanglu was not just a lowly servant, she was a daughter of some important person in that kingdom. Unlike Jin Mi was considered just “ nobody” until her origin was discovered. I do think that Leo Luo did a great work of presenting this character in its complexity, but for some reason people do not want to see the negative side.

Even though Kang lu was there for him and loved him, he wasnt romantically attracted or interested in any intimate way with her....he was also aware of her infratuation for him and he made it clear he had no feelings for her, he even wanted to eventually marry her off so she may live a good life and she begged to to atleast keep her by his side to serve him as she refused to get married. Where Runyu went wrong was that he tried to forced someone to love him back whos heart belonged to someone else, and as Jinmi was his light from the miserably life he had, he became obsessed and refused to let go and literally turned into a monster just to keep her by his side. Phenix wasnt also blameless as he knew the treatment his brother got from his mother and all the horrible things she got involved in yet turned a blind eyes to her atrocities....Also he and Jinmi should have wait before being intimate as she was still the fiancé of his beloved brother as he claimed....They are immortals, marriage was set for the two first born by both parents....atleast let them break it off first....that was a low move done by both, just after Runyu even lost his mother so that messed up his mental stability even more.

If she had her senses she would have always chosen Xu Fung... Even with the elixir her heart was moved only by Xu Fung, it cracked and almost broke because of him. Yet Runyu secretly fixed it. Runyu had xu Fung and that guard girl always on his side, Xu Fung was the best to him, he knew from the begining that Xu Fung loved her and she loved him. He just wanted to compete with him. He manipulated her and her family, lied to her and then. I understand runyun for most parts, but when it came to Jinmi, he did himself dirty, he didn't deserve her From the begining Xu Fung was always ready to jump into hell for her or with her, his love was always purer and deeper than Runyu's love for her.
