Keep pumping these out. Always full of content I can't afford but your narration is literally the best to listen to in boats or prob anything else haha
Multiple owner of gradys over a few decades. Quality of product, and the feeling it got me home in some rough seas at least 3 times , I feel its best when the going gets tough. No disrespect to the others, but I loved my Gradys. Battle tested, battle tough
If more safe fishing is the target. Buy a Grady. You will learn that you can fish on days in a Grady when in other boats you learn to stay home. It is not as fast, You cant get a different color except for the hull. But it will want to go play when others dont. and it will always bring you home.
Unfortunately Ive never gotten to sea trial a Grady, almost bought a 330 express three years ago but it sold the day I was supposed to look at it. Just looking at the videos they're awesome, see them at the boat show I absolutely love them
Good choices, but you got to look at the Cobia 301 CC... comes with twin Yamaha 300 with helm master, awesome high quality build and loaded with family friendly feature for just over 250K! Serious boat @ a great price
Nice video. Personally, I feel Whitewater’s 28 and Conch 27 should also be mentioned in this. Both are more narrow, but tremendous all around boats purpose built for offshore fishing. Far more storage than anything you mentioned. Price points more reasonable as well. If price wasn’t a factor, I’d say SeaVee 290 all the way
I have the Boston Whaler outrage it's a 25 foot boat with twins and actually fished overnighters 80 miles off in the canyon. The hull is absolutely amazing! And I have been out in things that I've had no business being in. I've also had the Grady but I'll take the whaler any day over the Grady-White the whaler is a foam-filled Unsinkable boat on top of everything else
The whaler outrage is awesome. That's what I would like to get eventually. I have the robalo 242 right now. I have grown up offshore, I live right on the water and Freeport Texas, and I have ran a lot of guided trips out of here. I have lived here 30 years, since I was 17, fishing at almost every weekend and I know every bump on the ground out there. My favorite trip is 69 miles out to stetson Rock. The tequila rigs are 80 MI but they are loaded with tuna and wahoo as well as some huge grouper. Anyway I get talking fishing and I cannot shut up. I just saw that you have my dream boat.
@@rogrambo I actually saw my R260 and got the Outrage. The r260 was a nice boat I can't complain it was easier to clean than the whaler. So many fishboxes now. But it was a 2003 and I had a lot of issues with yamaha's 225 four strokes I think it was the first year they made them that size. The Robo alo was great but a few times I went over a big wave going very fast and it almost threw me over kind of unpredicted.
Two engines are safer. Unless there are two separate fuel tanks and electrical systems your safety margin is greatly reduced. You are left with a engine failure that is not caused by the fuel or an electrical problem. The engines have to be totally isolated from each other. Also, never fuel up both tanks from the same source. Otherwise you will have both tanks with bad gas.
Can’t believe I see this comment, way to go! Been around boating for 50 years. Back in the 80’s at Sailfish Marina, North Palm Beach FL, if their ever was an old sea dog crabby ass man it was their fuel doc. guy. The tanker guys hated him as much as they respected him. Soon as the tanker pulled in he was out there testing the #2 diesel for water & contaminates. Same for gasoline. Miss those old school fully mechanical turbo diesels. Those Cats & 2 stroke Detroits were every gear heads symphony come to life! Great video!
Interesting comment and a smart one though sometimes filling gas from two different sources is impractical. I have twin outboards with a single fuel tank and I filled the fuel tank 150 gal, then didn’t run the boat much for an extended period of time, developed some fuel varnish and requiring some serious expenses related to fuel filters and injectors and the emptying and replacing of a lot of fuel. Now I try to use my boat more often and don’t fill up with more fuel than half a tank unless I really plan a long trip.
Orion Boatworks 29. Just priced one out, to my liking, with twin 200 Suzukis etc etc. Based on the Formula / Sea Vee, et al hull design. Not a wide boat but super high quality ride w 24° in transom. $174,800 is my price. I know it’s not a production boat, but build quality is excellent.
Worldcat Center Console 295 cc it’s an outstanding boat for fishing most efficient hull for the ultimate in smooth, stable performance. And, when you’re not fishing, this sleek power catamaran is ideal for offshore day cruises with family and friends. It’s the one boat you need for virtually any boating activity.
Yea, they're bad ass. I was debating on putting their 28 as my #3. It's just so many great boats out there narrowing it down to 3 is extremely difficult and opinion based. I thought sea hunters 28's versatility without losing offshore capabilities is the reason I put it on my list instead of the Regulator.
I run an Ocean runner 29’ with 257 gallons, she comes in with twin 250 Yamahas, wet in the 10k range , just 8’ beam. I love the ride and at 4000 rpms and below in Caribbean waters US Virgin Islands. Fish boxes are too short, for my size Wahoo. I am not in love with the leaning post, and not enough rod holders. On a rare flat day at WOT she is scary fast for my liking. New price range hull< CC, leaning post is 445k rigged in the $125k and below. All foam core and plenty boat for this area. But I do like your 29
Add a Polynesian canoe made out of wood to the list. They traveled thousands of miles across the Pacific Ocean. Without it many islands including the Hawaiian would have not been settled when Captain Cook arrived in the 18th century looking for fresh water, food, and some leg.
Foam filled does not automatically translate to unsinkable like most people think. Unsinkable, means some portion of the boat must remain above the water. In many cases all that is, is the tip of the Bow of the boat. There is only one manufacture that has an unsinkable guarantee in writing. Whaler. They are also the only manufacturer that list the swamped capacity of each model in writing too.
I agree with Sea Hunter and Seavee but I strongly disagree against Grady-White I would never buy a boat that's a two piece construction or has forward seating, and how did Contender not make this list.
I gotta give you props, I thought for sure this would be the typical fan boy pretty boat stuff (contender, yellowfin etc). I personally think the GW is by far the most solid of those three but I have to admit the Floridian is a very cool versatile boat. See Vees are nice but I think that may be the most interchangeable one of the three
Appreciate your content, good work. You tackled a big market; curious did you consider the 28T Contender? They adapted the deck to accommodate an updated console. Great fishing platform with a decent price point...appreciate your thoughts on this boat.
Go up northeast where guys roam far offshore to the canyons...seas get sporty frequently...and you will always see a disproportionate number of Regulators.
Call Mike Brown at Dusky Marine... Ask him to build you the 27 ft center console fish model... You'll get a great boat at about half the price of those other ones on your list and it will do anything those boutique poser boats will do... 'Nuff said!!!... Dwight. Good Seamaritan Rescue. Entertaining content thanks for posting.
I have taken several trips out in rough conditions in a friend's 30 6 Bimini Grady White, and the boat rides like a Cadillac. Goes thu 4 foot chop like it's smooth as glass. I've been on several budget boats but the Grady makes them feel like a row boat.Never been on a your other 2 picks but they look awesome.
I just finished building a whitewater, same shell as the seavee, honestly can’t be happier. They custom make it to your liking. Only downside is having to wait 1 1/2 year. But amazing boat!
Cape Horn, Grady and Regulator, Boston Whaler, Yellowfin, World Cat, Edgewater, Everglades, Blackfin, Cobia and Scout are also good choices under 30’. Scout has tiny fish boxes in the back though built like tanks. Cape Horn has the thickest hull I’ve ever seen and their consumers swear by them just like Grady’s. Cape Horn’s have huge fish boxes as well. If going used check out the 33’ Hydra Sports Vector. Built like a tank with Kevlar and their tournament style layout is the best I’ve ever seen IMO. You won’t care about fuel burn when the waves get rough 100 miles offshore. Go heavy and get home. There’s no substitute for quality out on the water.
For me personally- I need a ration of 3.5 to1 on the length to beam ratio for offshore- The ride is much softer on offshore trips- Plus you need around 300 gallons for canyon fishing in the North east, unless you carry a Fuel bladder.
LOA with pulpit is 32' 1" with a beam of 10' 7". Great boat, just fished it yesterday like I do weekly but it's weak in terms of wave penetration. Since it has no flare all of the water that gets broken up by the chines get sprayed all over the windshield not out to the sides, 4 foot waves out there and she weighs 10,500 lbs +/- fully loaded
Beautiful boat, my friend has a 2020 325 conquest and we hit Hydrographer canyon last month- We trolled and chunked at night, came back with 80 gallons of fuel . It has 300 gallons , too lots of fun- enjoy your boat!
These are all capable boats - and these are opinions. For my opinion, even though more cabbage is needed, you won't go wrong with a Whaler Dauntless or Outrage in this class. Dual Outboard is a requirement in my opinion also - even if you never have an outboard go down, having the potential for backup is smart Captaining. There are many excellent boats out there, but for my money, Whalers exceed expectations in fit & finish, handling, spray and "rough" chop.
Any thoughts on a Wellcraft 302? I’ve never owned a boat, but I watch a TON of videos on what I might like to buy. Just being honest. Great video! Subscribed!
I love my SeaVee 290b. Best boat on the water for combining inshore and offshore hardcore angling in style. Dry, solid as a rock, fast, efficient, great fit and fishing, and great company.
Yes, Scout would of been in my list if this was a top 5. They just didn't cut it for the top 3. Their 530 LXF is insane. One of the greatest CC's ever built.
All 3 are great, but to me, you can't beat the WorldCat 280. Both dual and center consoles are available, and it's a great all-around boat. Wide beam, stable and comfortable ride with the twin-hull, and relatively affordable compared to GW and SeaVee. Only downside is speed, but it's a trade-off for a great ride.
I want to give a thumbs up but there's no Boston Whalers on this list. I've never seen a boat that handles rough waters better and that's important, especially offshore.
Make sure to follow me and DM on Instagram if you have questions @Life.Offshore
Curious to know why you say that Grady White is your least favorite manufacturer.

I give this a thumbs up because this is one of the few guys that actually give price ranges. Thank you
Facts cuz most just lost a 46 foot seahunter that costs 700k or a big freeman for that price
You know why I like this guy? Excellent presentation, Unique perspective, Short and to the point.
I really like your straightforward, direct narratives. You do a good job with these videos. Thanks for the effort.

Regulator over GW everyday.

Regulator. Hard to not have regulator on the list when talking about wide and heavy
Regulator 28, can't beat it.... an awesome machine!
How are they in rough water?

Nice review. Its definitely time for me to get a boat being that im in FL and a couple mile from the water.

What About Intrepid Boats? Are They Still Making Boats, or Don't Their Boats Fit This Category of Boats?
Just curious. Why give advice on beam amd weight as things to look fpr, and then basically rank them exactly backwards from your own criteria?
Because the SeaVee is just that nice
Agree with the Grady. If only they marketed as well as they built the boats, they shouldn't just market to old people in polo shirts and khaki pants.
Great comment!
All 3 are great, but to me, you can't beat the WorldCat 280. Both dual and center consoles are available, and it's a great all-around boat.
