  • Edit 04/2022: Hi I have a website now with my UTAU stuff all in one place, would be cool if you could check it out! yoggoutau.wixsite.com/yoggosu...
    Quick(ish) and simple tutorial for creating a Japanese CV UTAU voicebank. This is not the most in depth and probably not the most well explained tutorial, but I hope at the very least it gives you the general idea of what you're going to need and have to do when creating your own UTAU voicebanks.
    If enough people are interested I'll continue with the tutorials, e.g. reducing background noise, adding pictures and descriptions to your UTAU, more in depth otoing etc. Please leave a comment if there's anything in particular you want to see!
    Sorry if I talk too fast!
    Also sorry to my old subscribers, if you're here, that this isn't the usual stuff I used to do.

    for the otoing explanation
    red line: separates the consonant from the vowel
    green line: where the sample starts basically
    pink part: drag it to the point where the consonant finishes and the vowel starts
    purple/blue part: cut-off
    -/+ boxes: zoom out, zoom in
    P box: preview sample
    s box: spectrum, you'll be able to see the spectrum of the .wav file, it's especially useful for vcv/cvvc voice banks if you can't distinguish the separate syllables since waveform looks the same. I mainly use it for nasal consonants like n and m since they blend fairly easily with the vowels

    • @V33EX
      @V33EX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kam Adrian I'd imagine that's why they described it as 'where the sample starts', most would fade right about there

    It’s good that there are people like you still making Utau tutorials that are closer to today. It’s hard to stay focused sometimes when tutorials get too ramble-y and you wanna have a tutorial to be straightforward.
    Good luck on your Utaus! It’s gonna be time consuming but it’ll be worth it

    Another suggestion is to hear a note in the background to match your voice to, to make sure everything is in tune (that way nothing’s off-key in the long run)
    I suggest doing C (it’s practically the go-to note)

    • @YogurtCorgi
      @YogurtCorgi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Have you done the oto on your samples yet? It could be playing silence from the beginning of your samples if it hasn’t been oto’d.
      Also make sure the lyrics are matching how you have saved the samples, e.g. if you want to say “ichi, ni, san” and your sample names are saved as hiragana, you would want to put い ちぃ に さ ん but if you saved it as romaji you would want to put i chi ni sa n
      Hope this helps!

    I’m trying to find the vowels but I can’t could you please tell me what website you used

    • @YogurtCorgi
      @YogurtCorgi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The vowels are あ(a, pronounced like ahh), い(i, pronounced like ee), う(u, pronounced like oo), え(e, pronounced like ehh), and お (o, pronounced like oh).
      The website shown in the video is just the wilipedia page for hirigana (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiragana ), but I suggest looking at other lists (they're called reclists) because they often include some extra sounds that can come in useful! The reclists that I usually reccomend were taken down by the author yesterday :( BUT! here's one by GrayOblivion that looks good! www.deviantart.com/grayoblivion/art/UTAU-CV-Japanese-Reclist-381067704

    Hello so i need a little bit of help here so i made my voice recordings and I recorded them twice i did everything that you were supposed to do i went to project and pressed the three dots and blah blah blah you know the rest and i inserted a ust i wanted my uatu to sing and when i played it it played the notes but I couldn’t hear anything and i checked my hertz and my volume but i still couldn’t hear anything I’ve searched all over the Internet to find a fix for this and found nothing so yeah can you maybe find a fix for this😅

    • @YogurtCorgi
      @YogurtCorgi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! :)
      If you double click any of the recordings in the voicebank settings menu, do they play there?
      Have you OTO'd them? It could be playing silence from the beginning of the sample if you haven't yet.
      Is the ust compatible with the type of voicebank you've made? E.g. a CV voicebank (lyrics look like "あ" with just the hiragana ) like in the tutorial won't work with a VCV ust (lyrics look like this "- あ" with symbols or letters before).
      The other thing to check is if your system local is changed to Japanese (this just allows your computer to understand Japanese programs).
      Let me know if any of these help or not :)

    hi!! so. there's a little problem here,,,
    well, i converted sounds from my phone because i don't have any mic on my pc. i did everything - folder, hiragana, .wav
    and utau still don't want to recognize anything,, (i mean play any notes) am i dumb? :D

    • @YogurtCorgi
      @YogurtCorgi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi! if you open your voicebank in UTAU, click tools and then voicebank settings. double click any of the sounds on the list and if it plays back to you there then dont worry, you've done all the recoring and saving right. If its not playing there, then it might be an issue with the samples themselves and you might need to save them again in a new folder. sometimes programs get fussy about how many folders they have to go through too, so try saving it directly into doccuments or onto your desktop to test if thats the issue.
      If the samples are playing in the settings but not when you highlight them and press play in the project/ust area, a common cause for this is not changing your PC's locale to Japanese (this just allows your computer to understand Japanese, it doesn't change everything into Japanese). to do this search control panel on your computer, open it, find the "Clock and Region" section and underneath that should be a setting that says "Change date, time or number formats". click that, then go to the administrative tab and the option to change locale is there. choose Japanese, restart your PC and hopefully it should now work! You might need to reinstall the voicebank into UTAU though, just in case.
      Hope this helps! Let me know if you get it working or not or need anymore help with it! And don't worry, you're not dumb at all!

      So I had this probalem and I found a fix:
      Go to your Control Pannel>
      Go to Clock and Region>
      Click on Region>
      Click over to Administrative>
      Click on change system local>
      And change it to Japan
      Restart your computer and unintall the program and then reinstall it
      Hope this helps!!!

      You need to change your system region to Japan in control panel. And if it's already about Japan, then turn off "UFT 8 for support for languages from around the world"

    • @niicespiice
      @niicespiice ปีที่แล้ว +11

      maybe you could, instead of naming them あいうえお kinds of things, name them "aiueo" and see what happens. if it works, you could try writing down other english sounds and recording all of them. this will take longer than japanese because there are a lot more english vowels than japanese ones

    • @lawrencewei3583

      same process but you would need a more complex syllable structure, but it would take a lot longer since english phonology is waaaaayyyy more complicated

      @IllegalsInMyYard it's actually not pronounced oo-tao, but oo-ta-oo! it comes from the japanese word meaning 'to sing'. 歌う = uta-u. you could put it on google translate if it'd help you! but either way, it's not like everyone does it, and that pronunciation isn't exactly the most comfortable for native english speakers. i have the upper hand of having spanish as my native tongue here.

Beware that it may mess up other areas of your computer though (e.g. decimal points and currency), but it is the only way of getting both OREMO and UTAU to work. They're called reclists, this link has a list with a bunch of differnt languages, but its a bit of an old resource now, so some of the links might not work anymore. Also note what voicebank type the lists are. My tutorial shows how to make a CV voicebank, and some reclists will be either CV, VCV or CVVC or other types that have different ways of reccording.
