    The Hombu Dojo (Seibukan) is located in Fukuoka-ken, Fukuoka-shi, Japan. Not "Hakata-shi". "Shi" means city. I live in Fukuoka city. My younger brother learned this style when he was a teen-ager. And I , myself, talked with Mifune sensei twice.

    Hi can someone please explain the difference between jujutsu and aikido? ... it seems very similar to the untrained eye like myself

      Jujitsu uses the push when pulled/pull when pushed principle.Aiki styles use the turn when pushed/enter deep when pulled principle making it a more circular and wave like method.Jujitsu is much harder on the body for longterm practice than Aikido.But none of the differences can be properly explained without your own experience.It's like trying to explain the color purple to someone who's never seen purple.

      Del Solar. Simply, Aikido is a much softer and limited form of Jujutsu that also focuses of Spiritual enlightenment. Older styles of Jujutsu and their modern Jujitsu versions, do teach enlightenment to one degree or another. However, their primary focus is on combat and self defense. The techniques ( there are many more and complete techniques in Jujitsu than Aikido) are much more damaging as a whole, including the techniques that both arts have in common. Shiho Nage, for example, is generally applied in a large circle, projection motion in Aikido and Sport Jujitsu (YES there are modern Jujitsu competitions. Looks like MMA lite to observers). In non sport applications, the Jujutsu Shiho Nage is applied in various methods, all of which end with a serious injury. Jujitsu / Jujutsu can be adapted to many different uses (military, law enforcement, security etc.) Aikido has a positive but narrow focus. Just depends on what you are looking for. Train hard and be safe! 💮

      @@senerzen With all due respect, there are modern Jujitsu competitions and many competitors do come from " traditional " Ryu ha. The techniques do have to be modified in many cases, but the Jujutsu is still there. Live sparring, absolutely! Yes , some technique sets are done at slower speeds when traing for safety, but they are still proven effective. Many LEO's, security personal and military like myself, can attest to this. Judo is integrated in the sparring as well. Just leave out the rule set. (ie no turtle position to stall, fighting from your back if knocked down, leg and ankle locks etc.) Aikido is a modern , softened version of Koru Aikijutsu. Find a good school, train hard and be safe😎

      Judo is a softened and hybrid form of other old jujutsu families. It looks like Aikido because we are all humans so the same techniques are often found in many different martial arts, just like many different guns often look similar. Judo was developed after the end of the Samurai to preserve the old battlefield jujutsu in a world where martial arts were or had been made illegal at the time. Samurai were banned and some hunted down and killed. So the masters made various "do" schools of the traditional battlefield "ju" family fighting arts. *Aikido* is actually *Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu* which is _the oldest or one of the oldest royal samurai fighting arts_ from around *1100AD* in Japan. According to Wikipedia in 1600AD there were over 2000 schools of traditional jujutsu in Japan. Every technique in Aikido can be done softly or to break/mame/kill, the higher level is being able to diffuse an attack without harming the attacker.
      _"Minamoto no Yoshimitsu, son of the Chinjufu-shōgun Minamoto no Yoriyoshi (988-1075), was a Minamoto clan Bushō (Military Commander) during Japan's Heian Period. His brother was the famous Minamoto no Yoshiie. Minamoto no Yoshimitsu is credited as the ancient progenitor of the Japanese martial art, Daitō-ryū aiki-jūjutsu. Yoshimitsu is also known as Shinra Saburō. The nickname Shinra comes from the Shinra Zenjindo Hall of Mii-dera Temple, where he had his coming-of-age ceremony. His Dharma name was Senkōin Shuntoku Sonryō. According to Daitō-ryū's initial history, Yoshimitsu dissected the corpses of men killed in battle, and studied them for the purpose of learning vital point striking (kyusho-jitsu) and joint lock techniques. Daitō-ryū takes its name from that of a mansion that Yoshimitsu lived in as a child, called "Daitō", in Ōmi Province (modern-day Shiga Prefecture). For military service during the Later Three-Year War (1083-1087), Yoshimitsu was made Governor of Kai Province (modern-day Yamanashi Prefecture), where he settled. Yoshimitsu's son, Minamoto no Yoshikiyo, took the surname "Takeda" and is also known as Takeda Yoshikiyo, and the techniques Yoshimitsu discovered would be secretly passed down within the Takeda clan until the late 19th century, when Takeda Sokaku began teaching them to the public."_ - Wikipedia
      The founder of Aikido just also studied a Christian-like religion called "Omoto" that's why there is such a heavy influence of religion and peace in Aikido. In reality O'Sensei change the name of the art he learned which was called "Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu" and changed it to "Aikido" in order to not have to pay his teacher more fees, Takeda Sōkaku, who he also avoided in person meetings with after receiving the black belt from him (or full transmission.) O'Sensei knew that Sokaku was the best martial artist in Japan but also knew he was a murderer with a rough personality and since O'Sensei was into being "spiritual" he wanted to improve the brutal and murderous "Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu" and make it more peaceful because Sokaku had killed so many people he was always on the run and looking over his shoulder for people looking for revenge. O'Sensei says he had a divine moment and from then on a lot of his teaching changed to be more spiritual and create a martial art that wasn't a martial art. You can see the photo of O'Sensei with his black belt "full transmission" (they did not have the belt system at that time in Aikido, to be clear) certificate and there is one copy, the original that says "Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu" and the other where it has been airbrushed to say "Aikido." After O'Sensei died Aikido became more commercialized and hyped by O'Sensei's son and the heir to the art, Tohei Sensei, split off from the main branch of Aikido and started his own school because he promised O'Sensei that he would always look out for the financial well being of O'Sensei's son and family. I did informal online study for a number of years with the founder of Aikido Journal, Stanley Pranin Sensei and I also did my own reading and training where I learned this information.
      _"Kodokan Judowas founded by Kano Jigoro Shihan, who as a youth began practicing Jujutsu as a way to strengthen his frail body. Kano studied both the Tenjin Shinyo-ryu and Kito-ryu styles of classical Jujutsu, eventually mastering their deepest teachings, and supplemented this training with an avid interest in other combative forms as well. Integrating what he considered the positive points of these with his own ideas and inspirations, he established a revised body of physical technique, and also transformed the traditional Jujutsu principle of "defeating strength through flexibility" into a new principle of "maximum efficient use of physical and mental energy." The result was a new theoretical and technical system that Kano felt better matched the needs of modern people."_

      and there is no connection between this school and Aikido or Daito ryu Aikijujutsu

    • @RaymondYan007

      @TheGoogler77 As you can see, the founder of this school learned "Yoshin ryu jujutsu.". The school of Jujutsu which Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, first learned is "Tenshin-shinyo ryu jujutsu." And "Tenshin-shinyo ryu" derived from "Yoshin ryu". They have the same root. That's why this style looks like Aikido.

    • @RaymondYan007
      @RaymondYan007 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheGoogler77 But it isn't similar to Aiki-Jujutsu at all. Aiki-jujutsu and Aiki-jutsu is completely different from ordinary Jujutsu.

      @Michael Terrell II Aikijujutsu is a mixture of Aiki techniques and joint techniques. In aikijujutsu, you first put your ki into your opponent's body or take ki from your opponent to immobilize them and then you can throw or let them fall down using ordinary joint lock techniques or leg sweep and vice versa. In aikijutsu, you can throw or immobalize your opponent(s) using only ki not using any joint techniques or leg sweep.

    • @RaymondYan007
      @RaymondYan007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Да или нет. Как видите, основатель этой школы выучил «Ёсин рю дзюдзюцу». Школа дзюдзюцу, которую Морихей Уэсиба, основатель айкидо, впервые изучил, называется «Теншин-блесто рю дзюдзюцу». И "Теншин-блесто рю" происходит от "Ёшин рю". У них одинаковый корень. Вот почему этот стиль выглядит как айкидо.

      逆だよ。合気道が、ほとんど柔術なだけだ。合気道は、古流柔術をリフォームしたモノに過ぎない。第一、自得天真流柔術は、合気道が出来る前から存在しているんで、これを「ほとんど合気道」だと言っている君は、かなり不勉強だ。一部を除いて、単なる関節技ではない「合気技」を使える人達は、合気道の高段者でも、殆どいない。自得天真流柔術が合気道に酷似しているのは、同じ楊心流系統の要素が取り入れられているからだ。
