Thank you! It has always been a MASSIVE pet peeve of mine when the art style of a series shifts wildly from game to game. I always thought I was just a bit odd for feeling so strongly about that.
The first was always my favorite character portrait-wise, and Frontier to a lesser extent. I liked the soft, earthy colors and I think it tried the hardest to emulate the official artwork, which I’ve always really loved.
Minako Iwasaki is the name of the artist. She has been the main artist throughout the entire Rune Factory series, all the way from Rune Factory 1 on the DS.
I agree with your opinion about the overworld. I actually too prefer the overworld of the older titels. It was so charming. It had a picture book quality too it. I wish delevopers could understand that not everything has to be open world, especially if its empty and the graphic is not the best. It cheapens the look of the game so quickly /: Nevertheless im still excited for the new game and i want to support it. Dont want them to go bankrupt again lol
I second this, but I think what I'm saddest about is the fact that the villager doesn't physically meet up when there's an event anymore, it's just a marker on the map and cut into the cutscene, I feel like the charm of the older game is the fact that you see a character running to gather somewhere mean that there's a town event going on.
I love your channel, it reminds me that my hobbies are not childish and that I don't have to change like people tell me I do! I love the steel book from the special edition Thank you for your channel!
Good on you - never let people tell you who to be and what to do. Advice is one thing .. but you decide who you want to be, and being happy is what tells you you're doing the right thing. 😎
I'm just in love with Rune Factory, grew up playing it and took me so long that I became an adult when I realized why we always start off with no memories of who we are, because the game is about making new memories, forming friendships and love. such a simple yet beautiful feel-good series. while i enjoyed Frontier and Oceans (japanese version) for being different, I much prefer the old school rpg style top-down view of the numbered titles. it just has a unique charm to it.
I'm the same - I prefer the old-school style. I know why they made the leap into open world 3D ... and I hope it pays off for them in terms of attracting new players. But it also makes it feel a bit like every other JRPG that's built on Unity out there (know what I mean?).
Rune Factory is such a great franchise and has potential to be so much more if the developers had more resources. I agree with you and genuinely hope it becomes a more mainstream game so we can see some more improvements on the graphics and optimization
it makes me feel so happy seeing other people who enjoy rune factory in the comments :)) i’ve been a rune factory 4 fan for years since i bought it for the nintendo 3ds and i was always lonely in real life because none of the kids around me have heard about it but now i dont feel so alone ^^
The kindness and warmth in each RF Game is so lovely... it always makes me feel calm and safe. I really love the feeling of Marvelous and Yoshifumi Hashimotos works!
Hashimoto has an incredible track record with these games, from the earliest Harvest Moon, to Story of Seasons and Rune Factory. I just yesterday did another feature on Twitter (my Appreciation Days) on an older Harvest Moon game of his.
@@Food4Dogs that's wonderful!!! I will have to watch it! I still play my 2012 Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns when I feel sad or lonely! The games always remind me how beautiful ordinary life is, and they are so comforting! I learned how to cook more, and garden in real life after playing them. Even if it's silly, they are such a comfort to me.
I absolutely agree with your point about the loss of "worldmaps" or over world maps in modern games, it may have been done originally as a technology limitation, but there's nothing wrong with using it deliberately, especially if you don't intend to actually put anything interesting on the long slogs from one point of interest to another in a "proper" open world game.
The age rating difference is really curious to me. I had no idea until you pointed it out. So hugely thankful that we were able to have a new entry in the series though. Ever since RF1 I've been totally hooked and RF4 will always have a special place in my heart!
I just found your channel, it's so nice to find an older adult who also likes games. I love Rune Factory & have played about all the titles with my kids while they were growing up. When my youngest adult son found out RF5 was coming out he bought me a copy. I've been loving the newest game in the series & I hope to see more of them in the future. I like Runes much better than the Harvest Moon & Story of Seasons series.
Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny was my first ever life sim and is still one of my favorite games of all time. When I saw Rune Factory 5 was returning to 3D, I knew I had to get it to try and recapture that magic of falling in love with a fictional cast like never before. I believe I can hear the Wind Shrine theme when you started opening the box!
Yay another fan of Tides Of Destiny. Ya I bought 5 for the same reason since Tides Of Destiny was the last Rune Factory game I played hmm maybe 3 but it was to combat focus for me. Tides Of Destiny had the balance for me to enjoy farming and combat. Really enjoyed catching all the monsters and trying to woo the samurai lady who insist they are a dude.just running to her with sushi in hope she will love me lol.plus the whole story part of your best friend stuck in the body than have amnesia. Plus it's nice you can woo your friend a little so you could merry her hm I think you can also play as her.
@@ThePro-ng4yt I lost my life to rune factory 3, I've played them all except frontier and I didn't really get into it until 3. My total play time was around 400hrs....then Rune factory 4 came out and I lost my soul. 832hrs total play time.
Seeing an old woman like you play video games melts my heart, this is how it should be. Video games dont have an age limiter, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the fact that you dont let that bother you, in fact, here you are making a video about it, which is amazing!! One day when I grow up and get married, I will be just like you! Thank you for everything, and keep on being an awesome woman ! ❤
I thoroughly enjoyed this review and unboxing! Not many people can speak so eloquently without a script! You are absolutely delightful! I just picked up Rune factory five recently and I am enjoying it so far. 😃😃
I’ve heard Rune Factory (especially RF5) described as a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ - But I’m fine with that. I can forgive the game its frame issues or other bugs, and I find myself loving running around doing whatever I feel like - fighting monsters, farming, preparing gifts for villagers, etc. It really is a joyful formula with so much potential!
I'm a 28-year-old guy and even I want to see more games with great old people characters, especially as protagonists, I find old protagonists so interesting. I can think of at least 1 or 2 games where you play as an old man, but never old ladies! What's the deal with that, I wonder? Excellent coverage as always, the release day slipped my radar. Will be picking this up full price because I am just glad to see this series back.
I've been a big JRPG player for years, but some reason I'd never tried out the RF series until I picked up RF5 a few months ago. I've heard from lots of people it's not the best in the series but I've really enjoyed it so far. There's something so comforting about running around a small town farming and hanging out with the townsfolk that you see every day. I might have to pick up RF4 at some point!
I was introduced to Rune Factory by a friend with RF frontier and RF 2 and fell completely in love with the franchise/genre of game. So happy to see the franchise coming back with RF 5
Thank you so much for sharing the unboxing of the especial edition! A really beautiful box. I was a bit dejected that I couldn't get it but, I was tickled pink when found that my standard version has the 15th anniversary illustration as second cover.
I'm pretty new here but you know more about games than most the youngsters on the platform. You're very fun to listen to. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Rune factory is one of my favorite series of all time.
Rune Factory 3 was my absolute favorite title as a child, I played an absurd amount of that game. Characters were charming, the gameplay loop was compelling and the farming sim/upgrade system was years and years ahead of its time. I thought Rune Factory 4 was also fantastic on the 3DS; I have very fond memories of being quite sick when it came out and it kept me good company while I was bedridden. To this day I have hundreds of hours on the original 3DS release, and have completed a playthrough on the switch DX version as well. Very excited to see what the newest release has to offer and indulge in a little bit of nostalgia
Did you get the switch release? RF3 got a switch release recently. I LOVE 4 and only played 4 and 5 so I was interested in 3 when I heard about the switch release approaching but I wanna play as a girl. I've played games as a male protagonist (like Batman in Arkham Asylum and a few of the Far Cry games) but because Rune Factory is very much about relationships you build with the villagers I just want to play a girl.
This is going to be my first Rune Factory game, I wanted to say that this is the most detailed review that I've seen of RF5! GREAT VIDEO! Your content is awesome. I've been watching since you reviewed Atelier Firis(my favorite Atelier game)
Rune Factory doesn't have a lot of content out there but the fans hold it very dear and will seek out any content for it. I'm very happy the series has returned and that it's as loved as ever (even if RF5 graphical performance is lacking).
What a wonderful channel. An honest opinion and insightful reviews with out bias. Just on pure love for the games. Thank you very much for sharing with us. Love from Tx.
I didn't expect such a comprehensive and chill discussion/review about Rune Factory 4 and 5 when I clicked on this video. Absolutely wonderful, thanks for the content!
As always, it was a delight watching your video! I think I was the one who asked you if there's a difference between the cardboard/packaging of RF 4 and RF 5 LEs..? It's interesting that Marvelous/XSEED didn't change the packaging for the Europe edition. I just received my Earthmate Edition today, and straight away, I noticed that the cardboard was thicker. The box itself is slimmer and a tad wider than RF 4's Archival Edition. It also opens through the bottom, not on the side as per your video. :O
Used to be completely in love with Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny as my fav wii game of all time, and have been so excited for the RF5 release! Your points are all so thoughtful and totally on the mark re: the 3DS, quality of life improvements, and RF4, and it was such a joy to see your video release today!
Plus, getting same sex marriage and not having to play as the opposite sex character just to to romance the characters I want to romance is such a needed and welcome step forward
It's amazing how knowledgeable you are! To be honest, I dont particularly care about Rune Factory, but I feel I could listen to you talk about any topic and would find it interesting haha Your passion for this hobby shines :)
You're going to hit 200k before the end of the month! Congratulations. 30k in just a couple weeks. So glad that your most popular video came up as a recommendation!
I'm so thankful that TH-cam recommended your channel. I can't find the exact words, but thank you for uploading videos and creating such a happy and safe space here. Its honestly cathartic hearing your story and relating to the blissful escape gaming can provide. You've made my day and I'm excited to watch more of your videos.
I live in Kentucky, USA and pre-ordered the Earthmate Edition. The box is smaller and opens differently. We only got the steel book and it came with a manual Seed Handbook which is very nice. On the cart are 13 costumes. It is rated T for teens. I really loved your video. After seeing your Rune Factory 4 video, I went out and got my own. I loved it. I am enjoying Rune Factory 5.
I think that 2008 picking up Rune Factory 2 was my first JRPG and farming sim! I really loved it, played Rune Factory 3 as well because of it. What struck me about it, even now- is that it still keeps the heart and soul of the franchise alive. I mean, the fact that I remember the style of the art from so long ago that I recognize it instantly says a lot to me. It's a very charming little series and it does such a great job of setting out to do exactly what it means to. I tend to play games that are more intense nowadays- stuff like Elden Ring, Othercide, and other grimmer titles. Something about Rune Factory has me looking at getting 5 even after all of these years. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the game, I just subscribed! Also I love your plushies they're so cute!
Hi Claire and welcome. 😀 Always great to see another RF veteran and fan. Oooohhhh ... Othercide! Yea, pretty intense. I'm just at the start, grappling with how things work! 😁
@@Food4Dogs Thanks for having me here! I also saw your Fire Emblem and Fate stuff so I know you have great taste. And I feel that I always take my time with games so I totally get that. The good news is that games are great places to take your time with and explore. And just between you and me I actually missed a bunch of features in Othercide because I just had trouble with the menus of all things haha. Got it eventually tho. Thank goodness for people uploading walkthroughs of games!
Ahh... RF is indeed nostalgic. I only tried RF 1, 2 and 3 tho not finished all of them. I tried them after playing some Harvest Moon series. Very fun social interaction, fantasy and farming in one game. Thanks for the review. I won't even know it's released without this video, Ma. Im jealous coz Im young but I cant feel any strong passion on anything like yours. Keep on good videos.
Check out 4. It’s considered the best of the series (well until 5, but I haven’t played 5 yet so I can’t say what’s better). It might make you passionate abt the games lol
I just discovered your channel and I love what you do! This is so sweet and wholesome and it makes me really happy to see you enjoying these titles! I love Rune Factory but I agree with you. There were some things I wish were betting about RF% but I still enjoyed the title none the less :)
Hi there, I don't tend to comment, but I jsut want tot ake the time to say I find your content quite wholesome. With Harvestella coming up soon, seems you'll have even more farming sim up your alley, lol
I would love for you to do a video doing a "top 10" of your favorite RPGs. I too have great love for Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei, and Rune Factory, and am curious to see where they would land on your list. Your insights on games are much more deep than even professional video game reviewers, and you deserve more views.
I'm so excited to watch your channel. The passion and the expression that you have for video games and this media is quite impressive. It gives me confidence to make a channel I've been Loving video games my whole entire life and thank you for shining hope through your channel. Thanks for the passion that you bring.
I just discovered your channel and I’m deeply enjoying your videos, your love for your hobby and the beautiful way you communicate and ultimately connect! Looking forward to going through all of your videos and all those that come next! Thaaaank you for the awesome and dedicated content! ❤
man i just found your channel and man lady your awesome, i’ve never expected someone your age to have youtube channel especially since you sound super well informed too. your a legend have an awesome day : )
I love that you brought up the nostalgia of Rune Factory 4. I wish I could wipe my memories and experience that game for the first time again. I remember being a girl playing Frontier on the Wii, and was in love with the game. I'm so glad this series is getting the recognition it deserves, because I still remember a time as a kid when I would try to talk about the game to other people and no one had ever heard of it. Although I have several issues with 5, after reading articles years ago about how unlikely it was that it would ever exist, I'm just so happy to hold it in my hands. No matter how many years go by, this will always be the most special franchise to me. Thank you for appreciating it how it should be appreciated
Hi Chantel and thank you for your comment. I'm a long-time RF fan and you may perhaps also enjoy my other RF video, which is more of an overview of the whole franchise history.
These are those kind of games that I tried but didn't really click with, and hearing Brita talking about them makes me feel really comfy somehow, I'm glad you like them!
I just started playing runes factory 5 it’s definitely something I’m loveing so far I’m still at the very beginning and I like to take my time so i will probably be playing for a while
I absolutely loved hearing your insights about the game (very well-rounded), especially how you mentioned Hashimoto and his admirable dedication to the series over the years. I'm looking forward to another update from you after you've played through the game!! :)
Your channel brings me so much joy, it's really been my comfort channel to come back to when I'm feeling down, you always bring a smile to my face. I've discovered your channel a few months ago after TH-cam recommended me your Steins;Gate video (which is my favorite VN). Thank you for doing this, it really shows that gaming has absolutely no age limits! Have fun with Rune Factory 5, and have a wonderful day! 😊
Oh my goodness! I came across your videos months ago and you're the reason that I finally took the dive and got into the Atelier series. It's nice to find you again. I've been a huge fan of the Rune Factory series and was very excited for the new game. It is fun, don't get me wrong. I was up way too late last night playing it. There are a lot of little issues that add up though. The overworld is very empty. I'd spend a minute running from one destination to another with nothing between point A and point B. Fighting a boss was a struggle because there was a second or two of lag when pressing the combat button. It is so disappointing how buggy it is, at times it feels like I'm playing an indie game that a developer put out for testing. I played Rune Factory Frontier back in 2009, which was on the Wii, and it ran much better than this game. The world was contained and so pleasant on the eyes. It was very green and earthy and beautifully made. Complaints aside, RF5 is fun. The characters are charming, the game play is enjoyable. It is a Rune Factory game after all. I'm really hoping they make more games in the future and don't go bankrupt again. Side note, I didn't know friends across the pond have different interior art! It looks like the earth dragon? My copy has the lovely image from 25:07.
Hey Lumpy - I don't normally ask people to "Subscribe and hit that notification bell" .. ya know 😎. But if you're having problems finding my channel (or forget about it ... eeeek! 😬) may I respectfully suggest that using "Subscribe" will fix that problem? Unlike other social media, it does Not mean you'll be inundated with anything. In fact nothing! And if you press the little notification bell, all that happens is that you'll get a popup notification when I post a new video. Which happens about once every 2-6 weeks. I just mention it because I get a fair number of people leaving a comment like "I lost your channel and am so glad I found it again .. after 2 years!" And that's something that's easily preventable. 😃
So happy to see your unboxing of RF5! I’ve been so involved in the game that I didn’t notice you had a new upload. I’ve been playing this franchise all my life and I love it so much. It makes me so happy to see fellow fans
I had never thought about the menu-ing in Switch games as opposed to DS/3DS until you mentioned it, but now I'm thinking on it. I think a big advantage the dual screens had was that you could put some of the heavier menu-ing on the bottom screen, while keeping the top screen free and clear for actual gameplay, or vice versa.
Hi! Thanks for sharing this unboxing, It was enjoyable! Hearing your experience of the Rune Factory series was very wholesome - I found it to be really informative, containing just the right balance of information to get an understanding of what the franchise is all about without spoiling it for newcomers or people such as myself who haven't played a game like this in the long while. I've dabbled here and there in the Rune Factory series so I'm no aficionado just mostly tried it out of curiosity and found them to be enjoyable games overall. Your video has inspired me to go out and try Rune Factory 5 especially with the transition towards full 3d Graphics this time so I'm excited to see how this will affect the overall feel and look of the game. To draw a reasonable comparison I'm gonna get Rune Factory 4 also. Thank you so much and here's hoping you really enjoy the fifth entry and in turns out to be a proper gem of a game for you. I really appreciate your videos so I hope to hear more about the Rune Factory series and any other games you enjoy or are diving into at this point in time. Some of this will definitely require me to backtrack and scour through your previous videos and I'm anticipating doing that. Thank you so much and hope you have a pleasant day. Best Wishes!
Nice video. The North American Earthmate Edition comes with a unique booklet in the game case called the Seed Handbook, and it's got all kinds of notes on the game and some quotes from certain characters as well as at the very back the language of the werebeasts because one of the characters does not speak human words.
@@Food4Dogs she is. Also fair warning the game does suffer from lag so keep Dynamic Resolution on because it helps by lowering the resolution when it needs to reduce lag. And some romance events will prevent you from sleeping or leaving town, and some will hide the in-game clock until completed.
I have so many thoughts I want to express, but will try to be brief. Mostly I have to thank you for making a welcoming and relaxing space for people to enjoy your videos. You always share excellent insights and information while being joyous and full of humor. You are a treasure and reminder that human creativity and community are our true strengths in this world. Once again, thank you very much!
I’ve just found your channel and thought this review was so thoughtful and detailed that I’ve subscribed. Can’t wait to see more of your work! Thank you!
RF4 on Switch was my first and only experience with the series. I’m about to start on 5 myself, and look forward to hearing your thoughts and experience on it!
I like your point about the issues with open world games. I haven’t been able to articulate why I can grow tired and impatient when I play in an open world game. I think your point has brought to light the reason. It is tiring and unnecessary if it is not well designed and does sometimes feel like filler. I have not played enough of Rune Factory 5 to comment if it is the case there. So far the environments are smaller in scope. Nice video. It’s always enjoyable to see you light up about a loved series. That very glow is what inspired me to discover the Atelier series.
I agree that games with a robust inventory and menu system (like Rune Factory) works really well when you can have one screen for gameplay and the other for more UI stuff!
For anyone still interested: This Edition is in stock at Amazon France for 50 € + 5 € shipping within EU, bought it from Austria a few weeks ago. You can play the game in English.
Hello there, this video was recommended for me (I'm assuming searching things about rune factory 5 did the trick) and I'm so glad it was. Thank you so much for your content, I love that you're championing the gaming industry for it's merits! I'm in my 30s myself but it's so refreshing to see more and more diversity for fans of this hobby. ❤ I hope that you've been getting more respectful comments (I also watched your "How I got into gaming" video) and that when you do read something scathing that you're able to shrug it off. 😊
For me,RF4 & RF5 on Switch are the some of best games out there! You are right, the story progression is great. I like the way there is always something to do, so there is always something to work towards.
I'll be honest, I have never been a fan of this series, but as someone who loves romance in his RPGs, I am very interested. You and I actually have a very similar introduction into these types of games, as Persona 3 FES was what awakened me to visual novels, games like Mass Effect, even Record of Agarest War. I even deeply agree with you on the 3DS design! Anyway, you got me to look into this game and it seems right up my alley.
Harvest Moon was my first game on my Gameboy Pocket and naturally I picked up Rune Factory (I think for the NDS..). This video makes me want to get one of the Rune Factory games for switch! The art is just marvellous.
I loved RF4, but never tried the older titles. I've already got 70 hours in this one and love it. Still gotta marry Ludmila, but got the 20 floors cleared in Rigbarth Maze. I know it has it's framerate issues etc, but deff a great game and recommend it. Great discussion and unboxing!
I’ve been playing this series since Frontier, they’re great games. My SO is playing this rn and she’s loving it so far. I’ll be giving it a go once I’ve exhausted Elden Ring.
Just now found this channel through this video and was gobsmacked at how many games you play! I always get told that I better grow out of playing games like this before I’m on my own bc it’s childish but here you are playing your best life! Glad to say I’m subbed now!
Thank you. I hear this so often - it saddens me. Games are such an enriching and wonderful form of entertainment. I also talked about this topic more on a podcast I did (here on TH-cam) with Backlog Battle Podcast.
I was thinking about getting into the Rune Factory series after being a fan of the Harvest Moon series long ago. I'm happy to know that it keeps the farming and socializing elements that I really liked about the series that I couldn't get with similar games like Animal Crossing!
I don't make YT comments, but I just love your channel. I found you through this video, sure, but after going through some other videos and your twitter I just really appreciate how deep you get into the history of games and your personal history with them. Love your channel, super positive vibes and you've made me smile

In a way it feels inspiring imo.
I thoroughly enjoyed this review and unboxing! Not many people can speak so eloquently without a script! You are absolutely delightful! I just picked up Rune factory five recently and I am enjoying it so far. 😃😃
Glad to hear it!
Who is the wholesome lady talking about one of my favorite games of all time?! Goodspeed you wonderful woman; thank you for your video :)
Thank you. 🤗 I am Britta, known as Food4Dogs.
@@Food4Dogs I'll be sure to watch more of your videos Britta :)
That's exactly it! 😀
You clearly have the Rune Factory spirit. 👍
I'll be auditioning for the major protag "old lady" role in the next upcoming AAA RPG! 😁
Nice choice using Idra Cave backing track. One of my all time faves in Rune Factory.
RF4 is wonderful - you won't regret it. 😎
Oh, that is nice indeed!
@@Food4Dogs Yup! For sure!
I am so glad this popped into my youtube recommendations! I absolutely adore this wholesomeness! I am going to stay here please and thank you!
Thank you and welcome, it's a pleasure having you here. 😃
I'm pretty new here but you know more about games than most the youngsters on the platform. You're very fun to listen to. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Rune factory is one of my favorite series of all time.
Hi Nick and welcome to F4D.
Always happy to meet other RF fans. 😀
I also got the earthmate edition! I love you for featuring rune factory in your channel, it has been one of my all time favorite franchises!
Same, rune factory three was the gate way into the rune factory series.
Oh my God. How have I never found your channel before??? I love this review. I hope when Harvestella comes out, you will review it too!
Absolutely!
This is going to be my first Rune Factory game, I wanted to say that this is the most detailed review that I've seen of RF5! GREAT VIDEO! Your content is awesome. I've been watching since you reviewed Atelier Firis(my favorite Atelier game)
Thanks!
Rune Factory doesn't have a lot of content out there but the fans hold it very dear and will seek out any content for it. I'm very happy the series has returned and that it's as loved as ever (even if RF5 graphical performance is lacking).
ive always loved rune factory. looking for more breakthrough new features in future
So good to see you enjoying the series! I just got my copy yesterday. Happy gaming :)
Thank you so much for this video and your general coverage of the series!
You're going to hit 200k before the end of the month! Congratulations. 30k in just a couple weeks. So glad that your most popular video came up as a recommendation!
Thank you.
A gentle reminder: a number is just a number. 😎
@@Food4Dogs I know. I apologize. I am just excited for you. Thank you.
In North America, RF5 was rated T for teen. M seems high but 12 and up seems low.
Well, the problem is: there is no separate rating for in between 12/13 and 16! 😃
Always great to see another RF veteran and fan.
This is such a cozy video to have on in the background while I do mindless admin tasks at work
I would love for you to do a video doing a "top 10" of your favorite RPGs. I too have great love for Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei, and Rune Factory, and am curious to see where they would land on your list. Your insights on games are much more deep than even professional video game reviewers, and you deserve more views.
Thank you, Ranjit.
I do *not* do ranked lists. Ever. It is against my philosophy.
@@Food4Dogs I understand. Either way, great to hear from you and I look forward to your future videos!
The amount of amazing artwork from the games you have shared is SO amazing! I am glad there are plenty of videos to catch up on for a while.
I'm so excited to watch your channel. The passion and the expression that you have for video games and this media is quite impressive. It gives me confidence to make a channel I've been Loving video games my whole entire life and thank you for shining hope through your channel. Thanks for the passion that you bring.

man i just found your channel and man lady your awesome, i’ve never expected someone your age to have youtube channel especially since you sound super well informed too. your a legend have an awesome day : )
I love that you brought up the nostalgia of Rune Factory 4.
I don't even play RF yet I love watching your videos, your enthusiasm is contagious & very much needed in these times. Thank you 🙏
These are those kind of games that I tried but didn't really click with, and hearing Brita talking about them makes me feel really comfy somehow, I'm glad you like them!
I just started playing runes factory 5 it’s definitely something I’m loveing so far I’m still at the very beginning and I like to take my time so i will probably be playing for a while
RF games are very well suited to taking your time with them. 🙂
Great reviews & Unboxings! Love the Content! Keep up the great work! This is my first Rune Factory so I grabbed the CE as well.
Excellent 👍🏻
That RF5 Steelbook is very nice! Plus I think your videos are the best Food4Dogs. Keep up the great work and informative videos! ❤️
22:20 Thats such a lovely point to make. Representation should be applied to all colors of life and I am happy there is a genre out there doing that.
Oh my goodness I'm so looking forward to my copy of the Earthmate Edition! Thank you so much for all this!
Absolutely loved watching you experience the unboxing and talk about all the fine details!
Am so happy i found your channel, thanks to Rune Factory 5, your so amazing, i love your videos, thank you so much for doing this 💕
Hi and welcome!
i love your commentary! you’re very wise. it’s cool to see how older people are into these games and collectible editions for them as well :)
So happy to see your unboxing of RF5! I’ve been so involved in the game that I didn’t notice you had a new upload. I’ve been playing this franchise all my life and I love it so much. It makes me so happy to see fellow fans
Yes, the US Earthmate Edition is different in several respects to the European version.
@@Food4Dogs It’s so nice to see they have little details to keep it unique to all of us
I had never thought about the menu-ing in Switch games as opposed to DS/3DS until you mentioned it, but now I'm thinking on it.
I think a big advantage the dual screens had was that you could put some of the heavier menu-ing on the bottom screen, while keeping the top screen free and clear for actual gameplay, or vice versa.
exactly! 😎
Ofc the 3DS screens are smaller than the Switch's - so there was a need to organise things that way. But still.
I've been playing the Rune Factory series since the first game and I'm thrilled your reviewing this tremendous release! Look at you go!
OMG! You are amazing! Thank you for adding class to the otherwise tasteless review community of TH-cam! I appreciate you!
Nice video. The North American Earthmate Edition comes with a unique booklet in the game case called the Seed Handbook, and it's got all kinds of notes on the game and some quotes from certain characters as well as at the very back the language of the werebeasts because one of the characters does not speak human words.
That is sooo nice, having a handbook like that!
That werefolk character must be Fuuka - she's so cute! 😀
@@Food4Dogs she is. Also fair warning the game does suffer from lag so keep Dynamic Resolution on because it helps by lowering the resolution when it needs to reduce lag. And some romance events will prevent you from sleeping or leaving town, and some will hide the in-game clock until completed.
@@Fayte_Liengaurd thanks - yes, I'm actually testing various settings atm bc a lot of questions and concerns cropped up on Twitter.
@@Food4Dogs as a slight spoiler, Fuuka has the cutest animal pajamas

You always share excellent insights and information while being joyous and full of humor. You are a treasure and reminder that human creativity and community are our true strengths in this world. Once again, thank you very much!
I’ve just found your channel and thought this review was so thoughtful and detailed that I’ve subscribed. Can’t wait to see more of your work! Thank you!
Hello and welcome! 😊
This is the best channel ive stumbled upon in years auto subscription
Welcome!
I LOVE THIS GAME!!!😍 I played a lot of RF4.....I just love the characters...I'm so invested! .. I'm almost 60 years old.btw
You rock, Lori! 🧓
Great video as always, hope you gave a great day playing rune factory! 😁
For anyone still interested: This Edition is in stock at Amazon France for 50 € + 5 € shipping within EU, bought it from Austria a few weeks ago. You can play the game in English.
You mean, it's now so rare in Europe, you need to look around various Amazons for a copy?
Interesting.
😊
Thanks, that's nice to hear that you found your way here through a Search for RF5. 😀
For me,RF4 & RF5 on Switch are the some of best games out there! You are right, the story progression is great. I like the way there is always something to do, so there is always something to work towards.
Was so looking forward to this upload! I also purchased the Earthmate edition and am excited to give it a try, technical issues notwithstanding.
So well researched and lovely voice to listen to. Like if NPR talked about Japanese video games, and I absolutely mean that as a complement.
I can't wait to play Rune Factory 5 for myself one day.
Thank you for showing it off!
Great video! I loved every minute of it!
I'll be keen to hear how you find your experience with it once you've played a bit!
Thank you, you videos make my day everytime i watch them. I hope you also keep well and in good health. 😊😊🌻
So pleased you're having a great time with it, despite some frame rate woes. 👍
I’ve been playing this series since Frontier, they’re great games. My SO is playing this rn and she’s loving it so far. I’ll be giving it a go once I’ve exhausted Elden Ring.
RF4 is one of my all-time favourites. I'm looking forward to finally getting into this one! Thank you, Britta, for your thoughts!

It sounds like you're the ideal candidate to try Rune Factory!
I don't make YT comments, but I just love your channel. I found you through this video, sure, but after going through some other videos and your twitter I just really appreciate how deep you get into the history of games and your personal history with them.
