    We have an 02 Limited with 176k. It's our only car. When I talked about getting another car and the Montero would be my car, my wife said it was her car. So i am going to be looking for a 2nd Montero. I love the 1998. I am going to be looking for one of those!

      The projector retrofit is worth the upgrade....better light and you won't blind others. You can do it on the original OEM headlights. When I do my next set I will most likely make a video of the process, but that will be in a few months.

    Love your Montero and we just bought a 2002 a few weeks ago and love it We moved here to the Philippines last year and over here they are called Pajero's and most have a turbo diesel. Also if you want the flared sheet metal version they offered the Fieldmaster version. We did get this version in the 2002 model year but it is just a 4x2 and has the 4m40 inner cooled turbo diesel engine. I do plan to get another one of these Pajero with 4x4 and hopefully the Fieldmaster version as I really love the body's on these 2nd gens. I had a 1969 Camaro when I was in the US and sold it when I retired here to Philippines last, maybe that explains why I like the lines on these Montero's/Pajero's.

      Well...it's a bit of work and coordination with a friend and sometimes family that visit there to get parts. The bigger parts are harder because of the expensive shipping costs so sometimes my friend or family will transport it with their baggage.
      I do have a side business page on Instagram called Nostalgic JDM and post parts for sale that I have been able to get through friends and family and sometimes myself with a couple contacts I have through the years when I was finding parts for my Galants.

    I'm purchasing a '98 Winter Package later today after test driving it this weekend. I had no idea there was this sort of sub-culture fandom around them, I just sort of stumbled into it, while looking to downsize from my previous full-size pickup. You keep mentioning "other Members", are you referring to a Fourm somewhere? I'd like to glean as much knowledge as I can and would love a place to talk with other owners.

    • @BattleshipSailorBB63

      A lot of these upgrades shown are already done to this truck...3" lift with Old Man Emu springs, on 33" BFG AT, manual hubs, etc. Shockingly little rust, having been Midwest driven its' whole life, after a complete fluid change I'll slather the underside with Fluid Film before re-mounting the ADD skidplates that come with it. There was a bit of suspension wobble on bumps during my short test drive, my wild guess is worn shocks and/or torsion bars not set up the same on each side. A small number of niggling problems, but the things that NEED to work do. Pretty stoked to pick it up later today.

      @@BattleshipSailorBB63 First congratulations on the Montero...even better a Gen 2.5 with the Blister fenders. Yeah ..the Montero community is pretty solid and a great group of owners. Majority of awesome and are willing to help, there are a few bad ones, but that's any type of group.
      I meant to say "Owners" but yes there is a FB group called Mitsubishi Montero Owners USA which is mainly U.S owners. ADD had a forum but it shut down to lack of activity. No one goes to forums anymore....I prefer it but it's not a thing anymore these days. You can also check out Expedition Portal. Their forum is kinda active and they cater to anyone. How you feel the 33/12.50 on the low gears?...and normal 2wd are you lost a lot power?is true that with 33 you go to loose 1 gear?

    • @itsaboutfam
      @itsaboutfam  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Monteros/Pajeros/Shoguns had different gearing in different markets so I am not sure what gear ratios you have on yours. Mine have 4.27 gears and I am in lower elevation and Florida is pretty flat so running 33's isn't much of an issue for me. If you're in higher elevation and again based on what gears you have...running bigger tires can affect performance. I haven't had an issue so far but there have been fellow owners that live in higher elevations and have to deal with mountain inclines and declines that struggle with 33s.
      I am not sure what you mean "lose 1 gear" but I never had that issue.
      Running bigger tires will affect performance for ANY vehicle. Now with off-road 4wd rigs that have heavier tires it's more noticeable.

So a lot of the stuff I did previously wasn't documented video wise and even most of our adventures.
