When you re-dip, use cold water. It allows the hair to cool quickly and set in its new curly shape.

I use cold water I won't advice hot water when splitting because hot water will straighten the curl.

Nope it doesn't turn straight automatically,and if you use detangling brush it will give you another curl.you can use leave in conditioner to maintain it.
