- Based on Homer's "Iliad," this epic portrays the battle between the ancient kingdoms of Troy and Sparta. While visiting Spartan King Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson), Trojan prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) falls for Menelaus' wife, Helen (Diane Kruger), and takes her back to Troy. Menelaus' brother, King Agamemnon (Brian Cox), having already defeated every army in Greece, uses his brother's fury as a pretext to declare war against Troy, the last kingdom preventing his control over the Aegean Sea.

I saw it in the theater and liked it a lot but looking back now, and thinking about how movies have become so basic, it's practically a masterpiece. I prefer Brad funny but this is one of his best roles. Sean Bean is one of my very favorite actors. And I don't know why but I always find Orlando Bloom unintentionally hilarious.

Watched this in the theatre and it was the trailers leading up to the release that got me pumped for it. That intro when Brad Pitt quickly killed that giant really set the tone for how dangerous a man he was. Loved it.

I love this movie except that Achilles the baddest dude to ever live according to this story gets killed by the most coward dude ever. It makes me just cringe so much. This could of been one of the greatest movies ever if it wasn’t for that one thing 🤦🏽♂️
