Well the S14 is manufactured during the era when Nissan was starting to get into really deep financial trouble, so build quality issues are kinda inevitable.
Alot of the issues seem relevant to sun damage. A friend of mine has worse sun damage issues with his BMW E30 in Ireland. My S14 is nearly 23 years old and the plastics are 100% high quality items. No breakages unlike my friends similar aged BMW.

I owned a s14 for 12 years . The only thing they dont tell you when you buy it . After 5 years they start to make a tapping noise when you first start up . The noise only goes away when you put your foot in gas pedal . It gives a kruck sound when gas is applied then sound is gone . But it does this each and everytime you start it when it stood for 2 hours or more .
This is normally the vvt sprocket if its the noise in thinking of. It's not a problem, just annoying. The only way to fix the issue is a new vvt system (sprocket)

Having brought a sr20det for my drift car if you do a turbo don't do it like everyone else please do it right put fuel injectors, fuel lines, custom manifold, intercooler, upgraded rad. Ect but the last thing you wanna buy is the turbo bc you have to be ready and if you buy a brand new turbo now then buy everything else that turbo could be over 5 years old and then instead of buying it last you have a turbo that's out dated and still new so it's a waste
This cars are 26 years old man. The brittle plastic is because it's old. The dash has been in the sun for so long, so it cracks. I got a 95 240sx. Got it with 72k miles everything is like new. The dash is not cracked. I got an Rb25det in it now it's dope!!!

S14s weren’t part of your era . It’s 25 years old + . In fact a lot of 90s golden era cars they have all these problems . The King spec Silvia would gave you a better impression coming with a DET . Alot of your complaints are easily addressed . The space for me was great cause at the time no cars really had that 2+2 configuration the rear seats isn’t much but atleast you got them . Owned my S14 for 15 years loved it! Hopefully one day you’ll change your mind with time .

Think about that, this is the car that started an entire auto sports scene. When people think drifting, they think silvias. These cars are rad. It was my first car. I bought mine when I was 18 back in 2002 in my senior year. Still have it, and still love it. No cracks on the dash either. People leave their number on the windshield with offers to buy it when I take it out. Just wish I woulda bought the RB26dett back then too, when you could get the entire engine and awd tranny and ecu for like 5500-6000k.

get some subs in yo trunk my shit beating . my speakers in my car was kinda ass too but the subs changed my life .. it kept me off the streets from selling drugs .. it keeps my head straight in school .. it keeps me from cussing my mom out everytime she tells me to do the dishes . they really changed my life for the better
