Cityhuuhkajanpojan lentoretki

Helsingin Forumin katolla asustelevan cityhuuhkajapesueen yksi jäsen lähti omille teilleen 20.4.2011. Lehdissä kerrottiin tapauksesta mm. näin: "Kauppakeskus Forumin katolla pesivän huuhkajapariskunnan poikanen oli lentämään opetellessaan liihottanut Mannerheimintien varrelle - -". Oliko kyse kuitenkaan pelkästä lentoharjoituksesta? Videolla on kooste pöllönpojan lentoretkestä alkaen Forumin katolta ja päättyen pelastuslaitoksen haaviin.

@GortMcTabs Ye, the firemen took him back to the roof, where their nest was...and this wasnt the only time they had to do so. But from that day they all learned to fly, left their nest and are now learning to live on their own and take their own territory in the city.

@GodsGirl4everPro Ikr ;D. I believe they all had little difficulties at flying first, but they all learned eventually and left the roof. Now it's going to be interesting to see if the owls will return next spring to nest again at the same place ^^. This was actually the very first time ever that Eurasian Eagle-owls have successfully nested in any city here in Finland.

@GodsGirl4everPro Indeed ^^. And the owls are dealing our city-rabbit problem much more effectively than we humans ever could ;D. The rabbit population has grown too much, but luckily these fellows are now reducing it. But some fear that if the owls might attack cats or smaller dogs, hopefully that wont happen.
And btw our finnish football team is also named after this owl species, since one of them visited football match few years ago ;D. There is a vid "An owl visiting a football game"
