I'm not a Smart Doll girly but I'm so excited to see her! This year and next year really seems to be the year for more diverse bodies for the bigger dolls
My cocoa pear arrived yesterday, and so when I tell you I understand, I mean I understand! I had to leave town, but not before I had to spend time fan-girling over her just like you. The shape is just something so new to the vinyl doll world. I couldn’t be more pleased with her and I’m happy you’re enjoying yours.
Your excitement is contagious and I totally understand where you're coming from. I've been an artist all my life, and a big reason why I enjoy art is the craftmanship and challenge of creating something beautiful. I spent most of my youth drawing cartoons and anime style art, but I recently got into sketching realistic people. I started out with anatomically correct men and women of average builds, but after a few years of that, I realized I much preferred drawing children and plus sized characters because their shapes were so much more fun and challenging to replicate. Don't get me wrong - there's value in the peak muscular man and curvy hourglass woman, but those are the drawings we are conditioned to seeing from superhero comics and anatomy classes. It's so much more liberating when you start drawing realistic kids with all their missing teeth, baby fat and gangly knees and elbows of the awkward tween years, and then going into chubbier teens and adults with the lovehandles and ethnic features. Just the differences that cheekbones and noses make in the appearance of someone is truly astonishing. I'm considering going into dollmaking not just because the craftsmanship is so much more challenging, but because I want to do exactly this: make dolls with realistic proportions to capture all the subtle details that truly brings each person to life. So seeing plus sized dolls like this that aren't rail thin (especially 1/3 scale) is encouraging and inspiring!
It's so incredible to me how life-like and how beautifully sculpted this body is. I'm really happy with the care and attention they put into the creation of this doll.
I hope you do get into doll making, it sounds like you have such a rich appreciation for the spectrum of beauty that human features are, and the resin and vinyl communities would be enhanced with an artisan of your taste.

I also purchased the .live and let live in tea, I usually videotape the unboxing but I wrapped her and opened her at Christmas with my family but I feel the same way as you do. She is amazing and I can’t put it in to words how much I loved her. I have her sitting in my TV room instead of the doll room with my two other smartdolls dressed in Christmas clothes. She keeps staring at my because like you I purchased most of the clothes except the brown sweater but I still have not put shoes on her yet and she keeps staring with contempt, Haha. But she sits so well. I was going to make her a mini me but the freckles throw it off so like you I an hope to purchase emerald, change her eyes and wig to look like me. Congratulations
