This has been my dream since I was young, upto this point in time I'm struggling to get in a workshop with adequate machinery to show my skills... Go forward guys, utilize the opportunity. You are brilliant
Depends on the fuel. Methane, that has about 50 MJ/kg in energy content, is actually rather cheap. Something around a few dollars per thousand cubic feet (28 cubic meters). So let's say these are Gas Turbine engines, then running them for this amount of time is not expensive at all. However, the turbines would likely cost a pretty buck.
I saw the Go-Fast Jet pack fly in San Carlos California about 15 years ago. It flew for 25 seconds I think. It's max was 33 seconds.....I think. Seeing it in person is beyond description. A man flying with no wings.....no helicopter blade above him. No glide ratio. He's just out there. Again, you have to see it in person to really appreciate it.
Here is my two-cents to ya'll: this product has way more enhancement and usability potential than Richard Browning's "Gravity Suit." With this JetPack JB10 there is the potential that the user can free up one of his arms while the suit keeps him air borne. This can be an emergency worker, search/rescue, photographer, maintenance worker, surveyor, and on and on. However, it seems the Gravity-Suit's team is winning the publicity/marketing war. Hopefully, Mr. Browning gets more aggressive with his investment and marketing campaign and not just rely on the product to sell itself (I'm sure he probably is doing that). These are both great products, but I'll like to see more viral/robust/stiff competition between these and other upcoming [innovative] makers.
This is an awsome video and what i truly respect is that wherever he flies out in the sea the boats are there to protect him should incase any difficulty thats really cool 😎
schools will soon appear, where they will teach the rules of flying in the air on small devices. and besides the driver's license, there will also be a flight license.
Most people can barely make it out of their driveways without getting into a wreck. You want Joe millionaire (who crashes his Lambo going around a corner) to try and fly one of these??
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" ... next step would have to be making a calculation for carrying a survivor (from a rooftop on building on fire, etc..) , and this would be EXTREMELY useful.

As opposed to the Bell and Howell design this one actually uses 2 mini jet engines because you know we have had functional chemical jet packs since 64 . Remember that Bond escape ? That was the Bell and Howell . The Go Fast JP is a variant on the B and H.
Perhaps you mean Bell Aerosystems, later Bell Aerospace. Bell & Howell made movie projectors. Our co-founder, Nelson Tyler BUILT the rocketbelt that flew in the James Bond movie, and many of the other jetpacks you saw such as on Lost in Space.
I wonder how much fuel it carries? I have always heard that one of the reasons why jetpacks or rocketpacks have never been practical because they can't carry enough fuel for long flights.
Yes they so very fuel gazzler but they are very practical on high speed and cutting roads.but for now speed is limited because of how air behave in a standing position(aerodynamic), but still small engine but big power and lighter engine it is. This is a beautiful G.T.E.
Saw something similar at Lake Havasu in Arizona, only the guy flew faster and the jet pack was much louder. Also, I did not see any backup like this guy had.

can you belive if they have had this in the 9/11. They could have deliiverd som parachutes and saved some people. I hope the ceep develop this so it can be used to save lifes.
Looks like fun BUT this video is ABOUT 50 YEARS BEHIND in tech. I can remember in the early 1960's a flight just like this at the World Famous, Calgary Stampede. Every day during the afternoon bucking performance a military person would fly into the centre of the arena using a pack like this but larger. It was an amazing feat, the only ones that objected were the live stock. The cattle, horses were very skittish and frightened with the thunderous roar from the jet packs. The flight was short probably less than 30 seconds, do any old timers remember this?
David Mayman has done the vertical take-off and landing, but this could be inefficient for long distance flights. Maybe he could provide for thrust vectoring and a foldable wings that extends and usable for long distance human flights...my ten cents..
really incredible. this should be on the news. looking forward to the electric version. however, it will be very difficult to make it legal for the general public.
Remember how cool everyone thought hoverboards were when they came out. In 10 years or so something like this may be affordable like those and we will have to watch people fly over our heads when we're walking to places

Out of all personal jet flight it's probably the most comfortable to fly and lesser sketchy controls than others .just can't see how if a motor shut down how you would get out of it as it just send you in a spin plus no way of a rescue recovery system can be fitted ,bell found that from the rocket pack to the jet pack with having high exhaust nozzles gave the best stability plus a chance to fit a rocket deployed rescue chute as induction and exhaust faced down ,to deploy the rocket would push the chute out as you desended ,then open . Bell worked out the induction could cause the chute to suck back into the jet if induction was from the top of the pack .obviously not a controlled canopy as you'd have to run brakes by the exhaust and would melt ,but steel cable section from pack to past the exhaust and then connect the rig was probably what they had the idea to do ,with long lines to a round canopy .its not the best as you might land somewhere dodgy but it give you at least a chance of survival

I wonder how much fuel this thing needs and for how long it works.
The jetpacks they use in Dubai are reported to only last for about 15 minutes because of the weight limitations on that size of jet engine.

But this is obviously more than enough for a casual person to go to work and back. Or to the store or something...
