Those giants seemed scarier to me than the Helheim force in the region, and were very very tanky. It took me a long time to try and build something that I thought could stand in front of them even if it was trying to retake an underprotected area while they chased thrones.
Yeah, it ended up being a predictable play, and all my commanders being pale ones was a mistake. The fight itself may have gone better in terms of attrition to Helheim if I'd just had the Pale Ones in the main formation rather than way behind. Sure they'd burn up from the Abysians, but that may have taken longer than what Helheim did to them flanking around.
