4K Japan Walk - Kenbuchi Shopping Street in Hokkaido - Sep 2023

This time, I walked around the shopping street of Kenbuchi Town, Hokkaido, Japan.
Kenbuchi Town has a population of about 3,000 people located about 50 km north of Asahikawa City.
A few minutes walk from JR Kenbuchi Station will take you to this shopping street.
In 1988, this town started a project called ``Picture Book Village Creation,'' which has come to be known as ``Picture Book Village Kenbuchi.''
For this reason, you can see the word "絵本'' written on street lamps and everywhere in shopping streets.
There is a shop on this street that is famous for its smoked chicken. There is a restaurant nearby where you can eat that chicken. It has become popular in recent years.
Unfortunately, most other shops are closed, and the roadside station along National Route 40 is far from here, so it feels lonely as a shopping street.
Picture Book House is a wonderful facility, so I think it's a good place to eat smoked food for lunch and relax while looking at picture books.

絵本の里として何かイベント等実施されましたでしょうか、小さな町なので知名度を、上げるのは中々大変かと思いますが行政、民間等協力して盛り上げて行って貰いたい物です。其れにして青空綺麗‼️
