    Burgess calling on St. Augustine vs Pelagius is so brilliant. The Wanting Seed is a phenomenal book and this question about the morality of mankind will forever be debated!

      Start with Gimpel and you wont stop until you will have read everything he ever wrote.

    Singer is thinking, "Who is this man and why is he talking to me?"

    Which language are the subtitles in? A Scandinavian language like Danish?

    • @tenno1981
      @tenno1981 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is Swedish. You can google interviews with Don Bartlett (for example the one in the LA Review of Books - it has open access). He is a brilliant translator from all three Scandinavian languages to English. Interesting thoughts.

      @@tenno1981 Anthony Burgess is a sadly neglected writer who would appalled at the dumbing down of Western civilization going on now.

      @@kierangallagher315 Yes, it already began while he still was alive.

    Just fascinating. But I think putting it in the Comedy category might reduce its viewership.

    12:40 "What did you say he was ?"
    A blasphemer.
    "He doesn't look like a blasphemer to me"
    "Well this is a good question", says Burgess disingenuously,
    "What do you mean by blasphemer ?"
    The subject is then changed. You couldn't make it up.
