Can rad techs transition into medical physicist? I thought you had to start from the beginning to become a medical physicist.

Thanks for your question, Detective Awesome! The short answer here is “yes”. However, becoming a radiation physicist does not require an undergraduate in radiology. But many RT’s move into physics because it is a natural progression from their clinical experience. As in anything, the RT certification augments the skill sets of physicists.

Hi Jake, thanks for your question. For sales, it’s easier to break into the dealer market. These are your local x-ray companies, also known as third party resellers. You can literally google x-ray services or equipment companies and introduce yourself. For apps, those are usually next tier companies like manufacturers. For that, you might try like searching x-ray, DR, CT, or c-arm manufacturers, and submit your resume. It is very competitive, but be persistent.

Jerardo, RT’s can easily transition into this direction, BUT they must still meet the prerequisite requirements of then graduate program. I don’t think that easy would be a term any physicist would use for their career track. Hope that helps!
