- In this instructional pottery video I will talk about easy ways to center and trim a bowl on a foam bat that you can make yourself. I will provide some really helpful tips for a perfect lid fit and I will take you through the entire trimming process. I will explain why I use certain tools and how to determine the diameter of the foot. One very important consideration when working with this much clay is the finished weight of the piece. I will show you how I check to make sure my pots are light and evenly weighted. Enjoy!

Great tips Adam! Thank you
Thanks great tutorial
Do you have tips to rehydrate greenware if it dries out too much to trim? Can you do a video specifically on that?
Thank you very much! actually I struggle soo much trying to center my pieces to trim, there is where I tend to mess it all and end up cutting the whole buttom. Now I'm looking for a piece of foam!!!
I'll use the pushing metod to check, usually I pick up the piece and used a needle to check the thickness, it was more work than the necesary.
