Hi Michael, I've watched your video and and you do a great job explaining how to wire a 220 motor. My motor is a Leland Farady. My motor wiring numbers are a little different than your video. My motor diagram is like this. P1 Line, P2 Tape, T4 T5 Line, T2 T3 T8 are taped together. T5 and T8 change directions. Look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks in advance. My name is Keith

Great tutorial . The only issue is my motor is a Leeson 2 HP with overheat protection switch. The wires are coded differently T4,T8 L1 & L2 are the same, I have a T5 and P3 as well. No T2 and T#

Why does 220 wire differntly in the same 6 switch drum??. Why no jumper wire. Or was it a diff switch? If not how would you wire 220with the same switch as the 120v video

My two videos on drum switches are different styles of drum switches. I personally like the switch in this video better and I would use it over the other one. I made that other video because I did a job for a friend with that older style of the switch and I thought it might help. I no longer have the other switch but let me look at it and I'll see if I can figure it out for you. It might be a few weeks because I'm on vacation but let me see what I can do

Hey there. I’ve been trying to help my buddy hook up a set up very similar to this, same 6 terminal drum switch, and a 1 phase motor on 240v power. It turns in forwards but when the drum switch is flipped to reverse, nothing happens and there’s humming. There’s arcing on the T6 terminal of the switch which makes me think it’s a bad contact issue, but do you know any other reasons the motor might not be engaging in reverse? Or how to troubleshoot it?

I’ve fixed one that hummed and wouldn’t reverse but it was wired wrong. Sorry I couldn’t help more. I hope you get it figured out.

@ hey there, could I contact you somehow and send pictures of the set up (motor plate and switch layout)? As far as I can tell it’s the similar to yours, I can’t figure out where the issue is.

Hello, I have a drum switch just like the one in this video. And I have a motor just like the motor in your last video ( how to wire a drum switch to a 6 lead motor to build a reversing circuit) That was for a 110 volts hook up. My question is. Can I use this drum switch in place of what you used in the last video? And wire it the same way as you did in the last video.

Yes, you can! I’m planning on making that video for you guys this week or next. But you can probably figure it out from my other video. Let me know if you need any help.

Hello Mike, I have a switch (Cutler hammer) like in your last video for 120v that I want to use on a 220 v Vevor 9 lead motor U140156C. I'm looking for some help with a diagram.
    Thanks
    Johnny

I'm trying to find the wiring diagrams for the switch and motor but I'm not sure they are right. Want to take a picture and send it to me?
Don’t quote me on this but typically the nine lead motors are a six lead with the addition of an overload/bracker switch. The P1 and P2 are are connected to the switch. I did a job with a nine lead motor and we just removed the switch.

Here’s an explanation of where the wires go. I started a new job so I’m taking a break from TH-cam but hopefully that helps you.
6 and 8 will go to the center two terminals. 1 and 3 will go to the top two terminals. 2 and 4 will go to the bottom two terminals. The 120v is much very simple.

    Hi Michael,
I have a drum switch that has 9 pins /screws or 3 rows of 3 can you help thanks Jim, here is how drum is wired starting from left side top counting down to 3
Next row top 4 thru 6 next row 7 thru 9 . Number 1 goes to 2/7/9 and other side of wires are 3 to 6/8 number 5 does not seem to be used it is single phase motor wired to 220 volts the motor has 7 wires 1 is not used on 220 setup

All the switches I've made videos on should run a 5hp motor. Some I like more than others.

You did not show where L2 goes on the Switch. Likely on to bottom right as it was the only left open.
