- In today's video, I am going to give you a tour of Philipsburg St. Maarten cruise port and city. This Philpsburg cruise port and city tour can be used as a guide for what to do at the cruise port and things to do in walking distance of the cruise port in St. Maarten.
I haven't done to many port tours because usually it's my first time there and it's hard to make a cruise port video and city tour while I'm still discovering the place myself. However, I think I came up with a cruise port tour format that not only gives you useful information but allows me to explore and learn more about the area without having to worry about shooting a video explaining where I am in the moment.

Oh! And any Dutch restaurant is going to have frikandel. It’s like a Dutch hot dog. But it doesn’t taste like a hot dog…it’s a mixed meat patty or (more commonly) sausage and it’s REALLY good! Served on its own or in between bread. 😊

Good info and helpful for anyone visiting Philipsburg by cruise ship. As long as there is a nice sidewalk, hardly seems worth a water taxi to save a ten minute walk. And seemed a very pleasant stroll. Enjoy!

When we were there last month, we just rented 2 beach bed and umbrella for $20 spend all day until time to go back to the ship. , we just grab snacks and drink from the store nearby and beaches nice and easy from. Chip walk back-to-back.

That is exactly what we did 10-11 years ago. Walked from the pier, looked at the shops, but we got a drink at the Blue Bitch Bar. And I got a can hugger that I still use with the BBB logo on it! And BTW, I really enjoyed this video tour!

Was there pre 1999 or so, soggy dollar bar in Simpson bay, take the tender and tie up, was a great time, loved the differences in the french side, topless or even nude bathing and great for international phone calls , when you are being paid to be there , it’s double quid in

This is perfect...I thought I had to take the long way around when walking into the city. I was there about 2 years ago and am going back in January...now I know about that path...so great recap....I think I will then catch a taxi to that bar by the airport to see that planes land by the beach.

Yes, please do more in this format!!! So many excursion companies to exploit cruisers when it’s just a simple 10 minute walk. We have an Alaskan cruise planned for next year and I hope you do one for ports in Alaska.

Next time you’re at a Dutch restaurant (because I’m sure that happens all the time lol) see if they have patatje oorlog. It’s so good!!!! It means “fries at war” lol. It’s an Indonesian influenced dish…it’s spiced French fries with mayo and peanut sauce and diced onions…it tastes better than it sounds. 😂 It’s good as HELL!!!

Im personally not a big fan of excursions. I hate not controlling my time :)
Great video. I would add that some of the bars have a deal where you can have a chair and a beach umbrella for the rest of the day if you pay for a couple drinks.

I've been there! with NCL, I believe it was March 2018. That Port really stands out.
Just heard a news item on a local radio station that there is now a ( 3 year, I think) world cruise that costs $2500/mo -- made the news because it's less than an "average" apartment rent in Vancouver -- no word if you can pay in monthly installments, however it seems that would be a big boost for them.

Been to St Maarten 4 times. Great places on French side to eat . The Blue Bitch Bar has the best chicken and ribs combo. Is touristy, but what the heck.

...and to be honest...most of the excursions I've done havent been that great...and Id rather have control over my own time

will be here next month. My husband has difficulty walking long distances or standing for long times so we booked a tour but what I can not seem to find out is how far from the boat to where you meet your tour guide? Do they have like golf carts to shuttle people to that area or strictly just have to walk it. Need to know if I should keep the tour or cancel. It does not allow mobility scooter so we would have to walk to the tour pickup. Thank you
