I've been practicing aikido for most of my life and this is the best explanation of the strikes I've heard. I look forward to practicing with this in mind, thank you!
Fascinating! One of the many things I like a lot about your videos (and Podcasts) is how they help us think outside the box. When most people think 'violence' or 'fight' they *assume* many things - instead these videos help us question things critically, think outside the box, not play the opponent's game, or not play the 'common understanding' game.
Wow your common attack like boxing punches & kicking are good. Thank you for your insight into aikido attacks. It's so mind-blowing to me even if I'm aikidoka. I read a book titled "The Courage to be Disliked". It tells us about Adler Psychology approach to human society. If you really pay attention on the core concept on it, it's so much relate to aikido concept as not being no fighting or competition. As being harmony seeing the opponent as equal not as superior or inferior to us, and many more.
I've thought a lot about this issue. The problem is that there may be situations where it is either physically or "socially" impossible to maintain that distance. It seems to me that in those situations, if you believe that physical conflict cannot be avoided, then the only solution is to "enter" - in other words to initiate contact before the other person does.
very, very interesting. it is clear, Aikido is NOT for fighting, it is for surviving. Even if it means avoiding the fight. What better way to survive. I've never had it explained as clearly. Combat sports and arts are for combat. Aikido is not..but it is.. intriguing.

Well now I know not to insult this man's cooking, hot dang. He'll just freaking murder me.
These are great videos! Thanks for sharing this stuff! Maybe you should give Josh a cold brew, and maybe he'll stop insulting your fantastic omelets
