How does everyone know that it was Hawthorns decision and not Clarko's to not continue coaching the Hawks. We have no idea what was discussed behind closed doors. As a Hawks member for 22 years I could see this coming since 2018-2019. I believe all this has been planned for quite some time.
Can’t understand how everyone is so shocked, it’s been obvious that this was going to happen from the moment Mitchell came back to hawks. The Collingwood situation just forced their hand in making the decision quicker than anticipated
1. Not sacked. Simply decision early that current contract to be honoured then move on. 2. Outsiders won’t know for certain whether Clarko is ok with this or upset. 3. He will want to hand over a side that is not a bottom 4 side but one where a decent part of the foundation has been laid for the future 4. This decision will hugely destabilise all those teams where the coach is less than secure 5. This increases the chances that Hawthorn with a known future goes past those clubs 6. The Buckley Malthouse scenario is a bit different as Malthouse was being earmarked to become an underling and his ego wouldn’t cop that. 7. This is more similar to the Roos Goodwin succession which is looking successful

Buckley took over a premiership winning team and couldn't replicate that achievement = failure Compare that to Chris Scott, he too took over a premiership winning team but was able to replicate that success = win
I was more emphasising the point that while Malthouse and Buckley worked together they had success, which the media seems to forget and suggests that Clarkson and Mitchell won't be able to work well together either. Fair enough once Buckley took over Collingwood slid down for many years, but I don't think that's purely down to a failed succession plan, more just Buckley as a coach.
Fair call Larry. Most get distracted by Malthouse dissatisfaction and it’s all about me attitude and forget that even though he didn’t get a flag Buckley did a very commendable job and can hold his head up.
Egomaniac Kennett will always be remembered for not even allowing a guy who took us to five grand finals and won us four flags in 17 years to have any say in his future at the club. Poor Clarko. No way any other club in the AFL would have moved Clarko on.
Jeff is the worst thing to happen to our club in my life time. I can't bring myself to visit the club website. I feel terrible that Jeff is leading our culture

He will be an amazing coach but I just feel sorry for Clarko, he’s still the best coach of the modern era and it’s almost like he’s been given the flick. I j just wish he left on his own terms

Clarkson has been ignoring the draft for years, because he reckons Hawthorn can recruit their way to premierships. They are no longer a destination club like they were and are in the same recruiting disaster as Collingwood and North Melbourne. Clarkson is past his use by date.
He is going to be a great caoch if he is willing to go as far as pulling players off...

Sacked? If you finish a contract you don't get sacked. It means you finish your contracted.
