I’m from the lovely Caribbean island of Barbados and I love you content. Lighting tutorials for coloured folks are so hard to find. Some techniques you use I also employ, but there is so much more info you give and “light” shed on this topic that I absolutely love. Please continue to make more content like this. I absolutely love it.
I do not but basically I created a color matte, then used the oval pen tool to create a circle. I feathered it as much as I could to make it look real. Then I used overlay from the blending options to blend it into the image so it looks real.
so for me even though we rent gear I always bring the essentials. I bring my sticks, I always have some expendables, extra batteries, I even sometimes bring extra lighting just in case . Like at least one powerful light that I may own, and then I'll bring like practical lights if I need them like bulbs or small mc-4 lights. I try not to go crazy but if I realize there we could have had one extra light I got that you know?
For me the key light was too dimm, her teeth are bright but the whole scene is just a bit too dark for what it was, too moody for a women talking about being a parent.
Thanks for your input. While I don’t agree I appreciate it. Most people always go for a lighter look because they are scared of mood. Being a parent is not always light, it takes a lot. The intricacies of it can be a lot. So I actually think it was a perfect mood to show that. Not fun at all. All my levels were correct. But again appreciate you. I love that we all would attack a set so differently. But client loved this and it’s what they wanted so we all were happy!
@@BrittneyJanae You are not really good with critics. :D It wasn't really even a critic, only a thought, and still it intimidates you. :D Your reaction is really telling.
Oh I’m very good. I appreciate your input as I stated and also said I love how every shooter looks at things differently. I just don’t agree lol. Please understand me explaining to you has nothing to do, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with being intimidated with someone I don’t know lol
💡 Something else i like to utilize when working with blank canvases, especially when the floor sq.-footage is big enough to accommodate more than 9 Greyhound buses, is cast color pools with pocket projectors, hiding them from view with props and/or additional thin sheeting that i put plexi-rods through to make them appear as softly illuminated mini-hills. [06:52] Why the "cheese" on that slapped-together, non-slapping faux-burger, look like a Simpsons Edition of Papermate whiteout? Then the tomato looks like a frozen puck of the kool-aid 😆 An amazing crew & an amazing industry pillar w/ her family, on set, complimenting each others work. Magnifique!
💡 Girl I love your videos. I love seeing a black woman crushing it in the technical aspect of filmmaking cuz it's so white male dominated. Keep doing your thang sis! 💪
All photography studio flashes I've used had a dimmable modeling light. Normally it has two modes full power or proportional to the flashpower which means dimming. So put it in proportional and turn the power down and you have dimming.
💡You are literally my film school lol I am very grateful for the content you make because It's a struggle out here in south Florida to find film mentors let alone a woman! These videos help bridge the gap!
Nice video like usual. I have been watching a few videos on book lights. Can't wait to try it one day. What white balance did you have your camera set to? With the first interview you went with really warm look, what white balance did you go with in camera?
So the lights were tungsten so probably around 4300 so my camera white balance could have been at 5000 to not have it too warm and crazy since the I bleached already made it warm, her skin tone and dress.
The science and math in this photography conversation is soo interesting. I love to hear you using all of the tech terms. This was helpful because my lighting is only ideal when I record in the daytime when the sun is out. I haven't invested in extra lighting to light me and my background when I record after the sun goes down. After this video, I will add extra lighting to my list to buy.💡
Great breakdown Brittney. I love it. Your space looks just *chef's kiss*. Love that interview too. The pink and blue background is such a great combo for her skin tone. Looks beautiful!
This video has come just in time. One of my clients wants me to do a 3 day videography project with a lot of interviews. I promise you are a lifesaver 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🫶🏼🫶🏼

@@BrittneyJanae I would loved to see the pictures they have taken. Were they also moody or they were brighter, with lighter tone.
They were using a white cyc so so the background was brighter but the images were still similar. But again, I appreciate your input!
